He grabbed me by the waist, pushing me against the cold walls. His hard body and weight pressed against me with eyes as black as darkness itself. “Being hot-headed will only put you in danger Elena,” His intoxicating minty breath filled my nostrils and I fought the urge to break down in his arms.

I let the hate and rage burn my entire body. “So what do you expect me to do? Sit pretty and wait till they come for me and successfully kill me like they did with my parents?” I screamed, unable to stop the tears that rushed down my eyes.

His strong hold against my body loosened, but his eyes remained a dark Abyss and I wished I could see a flicker of emotion in his eyes, even if it was for a second.

“Elena,” Just the call of my name from his lips sent my heart racing, but I had to force myself to remember he was a devil and I'll only get hurt. “You are drunk,” He finally said, releasing me and walking to the table. “What you need is some warm tea to sober you up,”

“No, I don't want tea, Dimitri. What I need is to find my poor sisters and get the bastards responsible for the deaths of my parents. And then, I'll end their miserable lives,” I bit out with muffled rage.

Dimitri paused, as he shifted yet another cold gaze to me. “Well unfortunately, we are all out of bitter revenge tonight, so it's either tea or nothing, sweet Elena,”

Chapter 1

"Well, it hurts..."Abigail felt her body ache badly. She felt a sudden coldness in her body and opened her eyes quickly, which fell directly on the man who was close at hand.

Her eyes widened as she reached out to push the man away from her, but her wrist was gripped by the man's large hand and dragged above her head.

It looked familiar, very familiar. Where had she seen him before?

The man stopped moving but didn't move away from Abigail, his eyes staring down at her deeply.

"I recall now that you are Asher Reed of the Reed's Empire. My father's friend. You monster! Do you have no conscience? How dare you do this to my father? I will call the police and send a beast like you to jail…" Abigail's eyes became watery with tears.

How will she face her father now? And more importantly, her boyfriend, who was about to get engaged to her. More tears rushed from her eyes.

The eyes of the man became piercing. "You will call the police?" Mr. Reed asked in a low drawl, sending shivers down her spine with a voice cooler than the night's freshest air.

Abigail struggled to raise the volume of her voice. "Yes, I'll call the cops. You may be powerful, but that will be of no use to you because you've done something despicable. I swear you won't go unpunished. "

Mr. Reed's thin lips pulled up lightly with a plausible smile, but he still didn't budge. It was then that Abigail realized she shouldn't provoke him any further.

She swallowed some air, pressing her lips together. "Mr. Reed, please spare me. I have a boyfriend and we are about to get engaged. Let me go, please! "

The look of amusement and disbelief crossed his face. "You have a boyfriend?" He asked.

Abigail nodded without hesitating. "Yes," I have a boyfriend, and we're head over heels in love. We plan to get engaged as soon as I finish my studies," she responded, with her tender blue crystals glowing brightly.

"Who is your boyfriend?" His question caused her brows to furrow. Is Mr. Reed suspecting I have made up a boyfriend? She thought with her blue crystals of meeting him.

"Dave Andersen. He's my boyfriend and a senior at school. If you really don't believe me, why don't you have someone check it out?"

The man narrowed his eyes after hearing her speak. "That won't be necessary. I know him."

"You know him..." She repeated his words. Abigail's heart banged. Could it be that tonight's incident was premeditated? Her eyes shot up to the man. "Mr. Reed, could you be friends with him?"

Abigail tried to free her hand from the man's firm confinement, but she found out her strength couldn't wrestle with his.

"No," he answered back, sending her deeper into her thoughts.

If they weren't friends, then what was the relationship? Her heart shrank as she forced the words from her lips.

"Since it isn't friendship, it wouldn't be an enemy, would it?" She held her breath, awaiting his response.

"No"

She sighed in relief. "Then please, let go of me first."

Asher Reed looked at her quietly before his cold, magnetic voice rang in her ears. "So you and Dave Anderson are getting engaged soon?"

She nodded. "Yes we are. We have even chosen a date for the engagement already. It will be next month. "

She mentally made a request so the man would let her go since she was about to get engaged.

And Abigail's prayer was answered. Asher released her hands, and she snatched the phone from the bedside table, running straight to the bathroom.

As soon as she was inside, she locked the door, breathing deeply. Abigail leaned on the door with her eyes closed, and when she pulled it open, it landed on the tall mirror in the bathroom.

Unexpectedly, her eyes fell into it, and Abigail saw herself in the mirror. In sheer horror and disbelief, she screamed loudly. "Ah..."
