Chapter 32
Abigail was so shocked that she let go of the cup of coffee she was holding. She thought that he was alone in his study, but to her surprise, there was also a beautiful woman there with him.
"Madam, are you okay?" The woman was up from the chair, her eyes falling on Abigail worriedly.
Abigail swallowed hard, no, she was not okay. But she couldn't say that.
Abigail used her eyes to gauge the woman in front of her, she was beautiful from head to toe, brown haired goddess was one way to describe her and her figure was to die for, just what she dreamed of having.
"I'm fine, I don't think I have seen you around, what's your name please?"
Abigail was dying to know the name of such a good-looking young lady. Even if she was not alone in the office with Asher, Abigail would have still asked her the same question.
"It seems that you have lost her memory, I'm Jade Turner, do you want to go and change your clothes, madam?"
Abigail looked down at her pants, which were splashed with a lot of coffee. Damned it. Abigail threw a glance at Asher who was watching her as well. Such a simple plan C, yet she did not even succeed in implementing it, if Mia knew, she would be really disappointed.
Deep down she blamed Asher for this failure. What was he doing alone in the office with such a beautiful woman?
"Are there any burns?" Asher's cool voice jerked her from her thoughts. Abigail pursed her red lips, looking at him. She wasn't burned by the coffee, but why does it feel her heart had been burned?
After looking at the charming Jade, Abigail shook her head at Asher, "There are no burns, I'll go change my clothes."
She walked out of the office calling for the maids to clean the floor. She felt really stupid that she couldn't even serve a cup of coffee properly, and she was still so fat, Rebecca was right, it was a humiliation for Asher to stand next to her. She couldn't blame him if he had another woman.
Abigail didn't dare talk to Mia, such a simple plan C was messed up by her. She went into the room, and picked out fresh clothes to change into. She was lost in her thoughts that she didn't hear the door open behind her.
Just when she was about to change, she saw Asher standing behind her.
"Fucking hell, Asher. You almost scared me to death." She said, placing a hand on her chest.
Asher's face was expressionless, "Sit down." He gestured to the bed.
She didn't know what all this was about, why did he suddenly want her to sit down, but didn't dare ask questions so she sat down on the small sofa behind her.
He came to her, and placed a hand on her thighs. Abigail's hands moved to push him away, but he didn't budge. "Thank goodness you don't have any burns," he said, getting up on his feet.
"After you are done changing, make me another cup of coffee," he said leaving the room.
Abigail's lips widened with a smile. There was still hope that Plan C would be implemented successfully. When Abigail picked up her clothes and changed into a short dress.
She went to the kitchen and made two cups of coffee instead. One for Asher and the other for the beautiful woman in his office, Jade.
Abigail carried two cups of coffee in her hands, this time Abigail didn't need to knock on the door because the door to the study was wide open. But the beautiful woman Jade was no longer in the office. Where did she go? Did she leave already?
She settled the tray on the table, and placed a coffee in front of Asher.
"That woman, did she leave already?" Abigail asked and Asher simply nodded without saying a word.
Now she felt awkward for having prepared two cups of coffee. To relieve the embarrassment, she sat down in the chair opposite Asher. She picked up the extra cup of coffee, and took a few sips from it.
She watched Asher as his gaze was on the computer, and he hadn't drank from his coffee yet.
Abigail didn't know what to say as the atmosphere grew more tense and awkward for her. What should she say? Should she ask him about the Golden award night or should she first start an unrelated conversation? But what about?
She contemplated if she should talk about the beautiful Jade Turner who was just in his office. Wouldn't it make Asher think she was jealous?
But she wasn't jealous at all. A beauty like Jade, standing next to Asher wasn't bad to see.
Asher lifted his head and saw the intense gaze Abigail wore, he opened his thin lips and asked her in a light tone. "Is there something wrong e?"
Abigail held his stere, sending back careless locks of hair that fell on her face. She said softly, "You haven't had your coffee yet."
She secretly decided in her heart that she would bring up the Golden award night when Asher had his coffee but the man was dead focused on his work.
Asher looked at the coffee in front of him and had no intention of picking it up and drinking it.
"What did you put in the coffee?" He furrowed his eyes on the coffee, before pulling his gaze on her.
Abigail felt like she was in front of a judge.
However, she could understand his concern, he must be thinking she had a motive for the coffee. Of course, Asher was misunderstanding her purpose.
She sighed and reached for his cup, she brought it to her lips and sipped from it, before placing it back in front of him. It didn't taste very good, but it was drinkable.
"Do you now believe that I didn't put anything in it? I wouldn't do such a thing, I'm a good person, don't think bad of me ."
Abigail said.
Asher's gaze narrowed on her. "I will drink it later," Asher remained silent as his eyes returned to the computer screen.
"Aren't you thirsty?" asked Abigail with a smile on her face five minutes later.
"No."
"Asher, the coffee is getting cold," she said with a slender smile ten minutes later.
"Hmm."
Abigail noticed that Asher's behavior was intentional and he didn't want to drink the coffee.
"Would you like me to get you a new cup?"
"Yes."
Abigail took the coffee and drank it while leaving the office, reasoning that the old one couldn't be wasted.
As she left his office, Asher turned his head to look at her. He watched her till she faded out of sight.
She hastily rushed into the kitchen and discarded the previous cup. She pulled another cup and began brewing a new coffee. Fortunately, making the coffee was simple and quick, so she would have it for him in no time.
A maid was standing next to her and appeared to want to say something, but she kept quiet.
Abigail noticed and turned to her. "What do you want to say?* Abigail asked the servant after brewing the coffee.
"Madam, the master has been consuming hand-ground coffee. He likes it better than instant coffee."
Abigail's eyes widened as she now realized why Asher didn't drink her coffee because it wasn't hand-ground; it was instant.
Fine! As long as he was willing to drink it, she would make it with hand-ground beans.
Abigail was very motivated despite the fact that hand-ground coffee required a lot of time and effort and soon she was done making the coffee the way Asher liked it.
She set the freshly ground coffee in front of Asher a half-hour later, but he was participating in a video conference.
Abigail sat down in the chair across from him and waited patiently, not reading the magazine or playing with her phone.
She watched Asher from afar, she couldn't deny it, her husband was attractive while he was working, but he was excessively attractive even when not working.
Abigail removed her eyes from him, afraid that she would not be able to control herself if he caught her staring.
After finishing the video conference, Asher picked up the hand-ground coffee in front of him and drank it elegantly.
Abigail's eyes widened. He drank her freshly brewed coffee.
Her little heart was about to pop out, and after waiting for a long time, she finally succeeded.
Asher looked deeply at Abigail before placing the coffee cup back on the table.
This made her even more nervous, and her voice trembled badly as her lips parted. She didn't know how he'll take her request to accompany him to the Golden award night. But she didn't care. She had to see Dave at all costs.
