Chapter 28

Abigail was shocked by Asher's words. The serious look in his face informed her that he meant every word that left his lips. Abigail's eyes fell back on Rebecca who's face had lost colors and it seemed like Asher's words had terrified her.

"A-Asher, how can I apologize to her, she isn't even a part of this family," Rebecca spoke gently.

"Abigail is my wife, and thus part of this family," Asher replied his sister back, demanding she apologize to Abigail. "Tie her up, and throw her in the room first floor when she's ready to apologize, then you will let her out?"

"Okay sir." The bodyguard bowed to Asher, and pounced to Rebecca who's face was drained completely.

She rushed to Asher but the bodyguards held her back. She began crying, begging Asher to set her free, but Asher's cold gaze regarded her emotionlessly. Abigail's eyes went from Rebecca back to Asher, but he didn't budge. He still insisted that Rebecca apologized to Abigail.

Abigail for a second considered telling Asher to forget it, and set Rebecca free. After, it was more important to her that she won tonight's battle. But she changed her mind the instant her gaze fell on Rebecca who was glaring unremorsefully at her.

Abigail refused to plead with Asher, it wasn't a bad idea if Rebecca got punished for once, after all she has been bullying her for so long.

Rebecca kept on crying, pleading with Asher, but Asher didn't change his mindz even as the bodyguard tied her up and shoved her on his shoulder, Asher held a dark and cold look throughout.

"When you are ready to apologize, inform the bodyguards," he said as Rebecca was carried up to the first floor, leaving just Asher, Abigail and the maids.

Abigail dismissed the maid, her eyes involuntary darting to Asher who took out his phone and was scrolling through it. She wanted to head up to her room, but was unsure if it was a good idea to move from her spot.

She cleared her throat, breaking the awkward silence between them. "Asher are you still going out?"

Asher's green eyes fell on Abigail. "Do you want me to get something for you?" He asked, and she shook her head.

"Not at all, I was just asking. Well, be careful when driving, I still go upstairs and rest now," she rushed, standing up, moving as fast as she could upstairs. She didn't care when Rebecca will finally come to her senses and apologize. And if she didn't want to apologize that's up to her.

The previous Abigail would be afraid of the consequences that followed but the current Abigail didn't give a damn.

Abigail went back to her room and showered. She pulled out a yellow tracksuit and wore it, feeling more cooler and calmer.

The room was quiet and serene, so unconsciously her mind drifted off her family again. She couldn't fight the sadness that enveloped her and hot tears rolled down her cheeks. Abigail didn't bother wiping it off. She remained this way until Asher came back to the room.

Quickly, she shut her eyes, pretending to be asleep, even though she didn't feel like falling asleep. Everytime she tried to get some sleep, her mind will project images of her family from the time she remembered. The more she thought about it, the clearer it became, and the more her heart ached and waters sneaked from her eyes.

Abigail didn't open her eyes, but she could hear Asher in the bathroom showering, and soon, he was out. Asher sat on the sofa, one hand rubbing his hair, the other hand picking up his tablet that was on the table, his slender hand, sliding through the screen.

Abigail's back was turned to him as she thought about her life once again. With her father's suicide, and her mother in a vegetable state, and her two sisters missing, Abigail couldn't help but admit it still better to know she wasn't alone. Eveb though she and Asher weren't the best couples, but still she had a husband.

If she could get her family back by gaining an additional weight, she would sign her name on the agreement immediately without thinking twice but that was impossible.

She was lost in her saddening thoughts and tears that she didn't hear Asher climb on the bed, until he was laying next to her.

Abigail still could not fall asleep, she knew Asher lying down beside her, she pulled a hand to her mouth to stop her sobs from filling the room. Now more than ever, she understood very well why her previous self had turned out the way she was. Anyone who went through was she had gone through would lose the will to keep living.

Even though she understood her past self pain, she never wanted to become like her previous self who lost all hope in this cruel world and lived like a walking corpse that anyone could step on.

The night became deeper and quieter.
Abigail cried her eyes out, but was in a more sober mental state. She gently turned around, no longer backing to Asher but facing up the ceiling.

He should be asleep, right? She thought. He must be tired.

The night felt too cold and lonely for her. Abigail looked at the ceiling and was occupied for a while before she slowly pulled her body towards Asher, and curled next to him, secretly crying.

She felt so much pain too the point that her heart was hurting, having him next to her made her feel slightly better.

She wanted to move closer to him, and have his warm arms around her. But she thought twice about it. She had already cried twice and wet the clothes of Asher, so she thought it was better she didn't do it for the third time. Besides, he looked really tired and she didn't want to disturb his sleep.

Asher, who had his back to Abigail, suddenly turned around, scaring her so much that she immediately pulled away from him, returning to her previous spot.

Asher laid facing her, his green eyes searched hers, making Abigail's little heart beat wildly. He was awake.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up."
Abigail hurriedly admitted her mistake and apologized, pulling back locks of her hair behind her ears.

Asher adjusted his gaze on her, his facial features suddenly crippling into a frown. Was he mad she woke him up in the middle of the night?

She couldn't blame him though. His anger was understood. She would also be furious if someone had disturbedvger sleep when she was feeling so tired.

Asher pulled up from the bed, and grabbed Abigail's wrist. For a fearful second, her heart pounded in fear. She wouldn't be surprised if Asher would also tie her up and look her in a room.

Abigail couldn't deny it, Asher scared her a little. But instead of leading her to the door, he pulled her to the bathroom door.

"Take a look for yourself." He placed her infront of the tall mirror, pointing at it.

Abigail had a confused look on her face, but she listened to what Asher said and looked at herself in the mirror.

"Bloody hell!" She couldn't believe her eyes. It was horrible. She looked horrible.

Her eyes were so swollen that she scared herself, no doubt Asher must have been scared by her too, right?

"I'm sorry, Asher, you go rest! I'll be fine by myself in the bathroom."Abigail gaze fell on the bathtub not far away from her, and thought of running a hot water bath.

But Asher didn't leave. He took a towel and dipped it into water to help Abigail wipe off the tearstains on her face.

She was surprised that he helped her prepare a hot water bath and soon left her to shower. She was out soon, already dressed. She climbed on the bed,
Thankfully, the swelling was not so strong, but instead Abigail felt unable to open her eyes, she didn't know when she fell asleep.
She was woken up by hunger.
Abigail's eyes still hurt a bit, she winced, because she found that she was hugging Asher so tightly.
It couldn't be more than 7am in the morning, the day outside was just dawning, so it was clear that she hadn't slept very long.
Abigail began to hesitate, should she withdraw her hand?
The fact that she was hugging Asher felt very nice to her.
God must have taken his time to create such a gorgeous man, his body had been sculpted perfectly.
She didn't mean to take advantage of him, she was just afraid that if she withdrew her hand, she would wake him up again. Staying put was her only solution.

(Last night, Master Li slept even later than she did, and just when Qiao Niannian was despondent and torn, her stomach helped make the decision.
The belly's cry was so loud that it woke up Master Li.
Her little face was all red and red, really embarrassing.)

Under the Asher's gaze, Abigail giggled twice, "Sorry, I'm hungry."
Yesterday she did not eat anything. It was normal to feel hungry?
"Take your hand away."

(The hindsight of Qiao Niannian, only to remember that her hand has been tightly hugging Asher.)

"Okay, uncle."
Just like Abigail. withdrew her hand, a knock on the door followed.
