Chapter 13
Abigail's eyes widened staring at the screen of Asher's phone. She shifted her gaze to Asher whose eyes were on her as well.
Her gaze from Asher back on the strange woman's picture on his phone. The woman was so beautiful, but she didn't know who she was. Maybe she did, but she didn't remember.
He leaned to where the phone was and snatched it from the table.
Abigail watched him closely. He swiped the answer button and brought the phone to his ear.
"What is it?" He spoke sharply, listening for brief seconds. "Not now" He spoke before hanging up the phone and tossing the phone on the glassy table. His hooded gaze found hers.
"Who was that?" She found herself asking. She doubted it had anything to do with work. And with the way he spoke quickly it must be one of his hussies.
She mental rolled her eyes. She knew she was right. Asher Reed's spotless image was too good to be true.
"Eat the food yourself, or I will feed it to you, Abigail." Asher spoke completely ignoring her question.
Abigail sighed. She didn't even know why she bothered at all. She and Asher weren't even a real couple. Technically, they were but in reality they weren't.
Abigail held her serious face moving her gaze from him. She hated staring into his emerald green eyes. It felt like she was staring into a fathomless green pit, sometimes it frightened her that she might fall into it.
"Do you know how many calories are in this food?" Abigail asked, still in Asher's arms.
"Ah, open up." Asher pulled up the spoon to Abigail's lips, ignoring her question.
Looking at the spoon placed close to her, Abigail pursed her lips, absolutely she couldn't open her mouth and have it, she couldn't spoil her weight loss plan?
Asher sighed, pulling a hand to Abigail's chin. He pinched it lightly, Abigail had no choice but to open her mouth and in fast motion Asher stuck the spoon in her mouth and emptied the contents.
Without swallowing the food in her mouth, Abigail jumped from Asher's firm grip and raced to the trash can, spitting out the food in her mouth.
She swerved around, sending angry stares to Asher. "What the hell? I am not eating any of that not until I regain my perfect figure." She said in rage and frustration, trying her hardest not to yell.
Asher didn't reply. He stood from his chair, and began moving to where Abigail was standing. His silence and the frostiness of his gaze sent a fearful shiver down her spine.
"Come on Asher, what —" She began to stutter as Asher moved near her. "Listen," Her voice became soft, as she started taking steps backwards. "I know you have good intentions, but I just lost my memories and I want to go back to the girl I once was. I want my perfect figure back." She muttered slowly, as her back collided with the wall.
Before she could escape, Asher placed both of his hands on the wall, imprisoning her.
Abigail could obviously notice that her heart was traitorously pounding wildly.
Asher's face once again was inches away from her.
Asher placed a hand on his chest. "I-I want to use the bathroom. Please excuse me"
Asher's hooded gaze moved from her to the plate of food on the dining table.
"Finish your meal first, Abigail." He spoke quietly. There was a certain way that he called her name that made a gasp leave her lips.
She shook her head mentally. Absolutely not.
Abigail held a faux smile. "Asher Reed, I am doing all this for you as well. As your wife, wouldn't you be happy if I returned to a perfect figure? So don't pay attention to me."
Asher sent her a cold look, not replying to her words. He grabbed her wrist and pulled her back to the table, and pushed her into one of the chairs.
Instead of taking the food that was served for her, Asher took the bowl of soup that was on the table with other delicacies.
Abigail watched him confusedly. With one hand, Asher confined her hands, and he emptied some of the soup content into his mouth.
Abigail was still confused, not understanding what was about to happen. Without warning Asher dropped the bowl of soup and brought his lips to Abigail's.
She froze.
She could feel Asher's large hand on her cheek, and then the warm soup from his mouth flowed into her mouth. She didn't know how she started gulping it down till Asher successfully emptied everything into her mouth. Even after, his soft lips remained on her.
Abigail could hear the fast racing of her heart in her ears. It was almost as if it was running against an unknown opponent.
Only after Asher ensured she had gulped everything down did he pull his lips from hers. But he didn't move away. His face was still inches away from hers. Asher's emerald green eyes were dark, as he stared at her. He began to pull his head slowly to hers again, but he stopped halfway when they both heard the loud clearing of the throat.
Asher pulled away. And both Abigail and Asher turned their heads to the entrance of the dining room to find a young man standing there.
Abigail felt her cheeks burn instantly. The man lowered his head to Asher.
"What is it Kyle?" Asher asked coldly, somewhat annoyed.
Kyle moved forward with a straight face. "Mr Reed, I found out some information on the mastermind."
Abigail's eyes darted back to him, rushing to stand beside Asher.
Who could be the mastermind?
