Chapter 11

Abigail was utterly confused and at the same time, speechless.

In the chat, Mia had asked Abigail about the dream but Abigail didn't reply to her. Abigail bit the bottom of her lips, shaking her head. She felt something was wrong with the cgars between her and Mia.

She shook her head again. This was not her writing style. Aside from being harsh and cold, it was somewhat different. Mia asked her several questions, and kept sending messages but Abigail never replied.

"What's wrong?" Mia asked her friend, turning sideways as she glanced at the chats with Abigail. "Do you remember anything?"

Abigail breathed calmly. Her mind was in a frenzy and her heart was pounding insanely. She needed to be calm. "Did I tell you that I was having some kind of dream?"

Mia was quick to nod. "Yes. But you didn't say what it was all about. Do you remember the dream?"

"Unfortunately, I don't." Abigail's hand fell to her chest. She felt suffocated, and its fast pounding made her chest hurt. Whatever dream her past self was having, it definitely made her so terrified. What could it have been?

"If you can't remember, don't think of it, it's not a good dream anyway? Like I said earlier, forgetting doesn't have to be such a bad thing." Mia forced Abigail's full attention to her.

Abigail felt that Mia had a point so she didn't force herself to think about the dream anymore, but continued to look at their chats. Everytime Mia would chat with her, Abigail didn't reply, and even if she would, it was always short and cold, and partly rude. When did she become that sort of person?

"Mia, you must have really hated me. I mean, I would if my best friend ghosted me like this." Truth be told, Abigail disliked chatting with people that were so cold and rude, and didn't reply from time.

"Just a little angry, but I didn't take it to heart, I knew you were in a bad mood at that time, and it was only human for you not to reply to me." Mia said.

Abigail's eyes gleamed, she smiled sweetly at her friend. "Thank you honey. You are the best…" Abigail's words were caught off when her eyes fell on another chat where she was telling Mia that Asher was being too rude with her, and he kept forcing himself on her.

Mia had advised Abigail to stop resisting and try communicating more with Asher Reed, but Abigail replied that didn't care. She kept on reading their chats and discovered that Asher barely stayed home. He was always busy with work, and comes home once every week.

She sighed, squeezing her fingers together. No wonder last night with Asher felt so weird and uncomfortable. They were a couple but they were so distant.

"Abby, if Mr Reed comes back only after ten days, then you won't be able to attend the Golden night award and meet Dave,"

Mia's words made Abigail fall into silence, thinking. "I will find a way to get him to come back,"

"Sweetheart, I am sure you can. Mr Reed is actually a good man." Mia said, almost naughtily.

Abigail stared at her blankly. "I highly doubt he is as good as you think he is. I have seen it myself. That man is too rude and cold at the same time. It's as if his heart is made of glacier and his lips were made never to smile. It's frightening."

"Whatever. He is still handsome though. You lucky girl, do you know how many women would happily throw themselves at him. He is as handsome as the gods, he is rich and powerful. He's the perfect man for any girl." Mia chirped, clapping her hands together.

"Not for me, though."

Mia gasped in disbelief. "Girl, you have no idea how many famous female celebrities throw themselves at your husband daily, but still, he hasn't gone after them. That's a good man who's dedicated."

"How sure are you that he doesn't hook-up with random hussies?" Abigail shot back.

"Take a look at me honey, I am a reporter. We know these kinds of stuff. Besides, the best report in our industry investigated him, but found absolutely no dirt on him. He's spotless." Mia voiced.

"That's impossible. There's no one who's spotless Mia. You are a reporter, doesn't that seem suspicious?" Abigail said seriously, causing Mia long brows to furrow at her.

"I am confused Abby, are you his wife or his enemy?" Mia asked.

"I am simply a woman who just wants her life back in order." She paused. "The way it used to be." Abigail added sadly.

She was about to continue reading the chats when Mia's phone rang. It was an urgent call from work, demanding her presence. She had to leave.

Mia was up on her heels, hurrying to the door. Abigail tailed hastily behind her. She wasn't done yet with talking to Mia, she hasn't even asked about her family. But Mia promised to be back later in the evening.

After Mia left. Abigail followed the plan she drafted a while ago and had just vegetables at noon. She also exercised for two hours, before returning to her room. Too tired, she took a shower after exercising and fell asleep from exhaustion.

Abigail stirred swai. She didn't know how long she had been asleep, but the sun had already taken shade while darkness had begun to invade outside. She groaned, feeling hungry. But she couldn't afford to eat proper food. She pulled up from the bed, into a sitting position. Her sleepy blue eyes widened clearly as it fell on the man sitting on the sofa opposite the bed. His deep green eyes watched her intensely. Asher Reed.

Abigail drove the sleep from her eyes, and exclaimed. "Why are you back?" She asked, but he didn't reply, instead regarding cautiously that it frightened her.
