Chapter 22

"He's so scary, there's a man sitting in a wheelchair with a face full of blood..." She screamed loudly.

Abigail shut her eyes tightly and hugged Asher harder and harder as she described the person outside the door.

Asher's gaze darkened as he listened to her description, before placing her gently on the bed and moving extremely fast to put on his black tee, Asher took a long step and left the room.

Abigail took a sharp breath, before following Asher out of the master's bedroom, she saw the scary man in the wheelchair, still outside the room.

She stood behind Asher, clasping her hands together to stop her trembling body. Could it be that the mastermind sent him to murder her? She thought to herself. Suddenly a voice in her head refuted it, dismissing it as a stupid thought.

Abigail's eyes gently regarded the man. He looked young, and was really handsome. But he had so much blood on his face, and also on his clothes. Abigail also noticed that the man had only one leg, while the other seemed amputated. She brought her eyes to him again.

Asher frowned lightly at the man, "Brother, why is there blood all over your body?"

"What?" The words escaped Abigail's lips without warning. Brother? Her eyes went from Asher to the man on the wheelchair.

"It's not my blood," he counted each word, sparing a cautious glance on Abigail. "That new machine exploded." The man spoke in an icy voice that made Abigail shiver as she listened. She could now see a resemblance between Asher and the man.

The corners of Asher's mouth twitched lightly, "Well, I'll have someone send a new one over, Dale."

Dale? Abigail's brain began to work. She remembered Mia mentioning his name to her. He was the second son of the royal family.

Dale, whose face was full of blood, was clearly expressionless. He stared at Abigail blankly. "The pigs are dead."

So, the blood on Dale's face was actually pig blood? Why did she find this so inexplicable? Strangely, something in her found his words unbelievable. But she shook her head immediately. This was Asher's brother. She was only thinking stupidly.

Her gaze fell on Asher whose green eyes were on Dale. For an insane second, it felt like they were having some kind of conversation with their eyes.

"Hmm." Asher finally sounded after a long, dreadful silence.

Dale didn't say another word, he just stared at Abigail. Abigail felt the need to say something.

She cleared her throat. "I am sorry for not recognizing you," she offered. Dale only nodded without breaking a smile, or uttering a word.

His gaze was quite terrifying, like his mission was to swallow her up. It scared Abigail so much that she stylishly took some steps behind Asher's huge body.

"I will leave now. We will speak further tomorrow," Dale voiced, before moving away on his wheelchair.

"He's gone." Asher turned to her, grabbing her wrist, he led her back to the bedroom.

"I didn't know he was your brother," she said, taking a seat on the sofa. Aside from how frightening Dake looked, Abigail had a strange feeling within her like she had crossed paths with him before. But she can't remember.

"Obviously you can't. You lost your memory, remember?" A voice sounded in her head. She shook her head, dismissing it before she began to go insane.

"I know," Asher sounded, grabbing his tablet from the table.

Abigail watched him silently before shuffling on the sofa. "Asher, what did Dale mean by 'the machine exploded and the pigs are dead'?" She asked her blue eyes following Asher's movement until he sat on the bed, right opposite her.

"Do not think too much about stupid stuff. Come to bed," he said. His green irises darkened, forcing Abigail to remember what transpired between her and Asher within the bathroom door.

Beads of sweat formed on her face, while her cheeks burned.

Asher tilted his head, gently, examining her. "Do not start having impure thoughts again, otherwise I won't hold back anymore," he said, warningly..

Abigail looked away, grabbing the magazine on the table to hide her face.

"You are not sleeping now?" Asher's voice sounded.

"No, I don't feel sleepy at all. Please, don't mind me, and sleep," she answered, not removing the magazine from her face.

Asher didn't say anything. Abigail heard him adjust underneath the covers. It was only when she was certain Asher had fallen asleep that she placed the magazine on the table.

She crawled into the bed as quietly as she could, adjusting under the covers.

"Good night, Abigail," she froze on the bed, as she heard Asher's deep voice sound near her ears.

"Good night," she managed to speak before burying her face into the pillow.

The night went by fastly, and soon the bright sun was up in the sky, sending its rays through the velvet curtains of the room.

When Abigail woke up the next morning, Asher had already left the bed. She stretched briefly on the king-sized bed, before navigating her way to the bathroom. She washed her mouth and quickly ran a hot water bath. She showered quickly and changed into casual blue jeans and a white shirt.

She felt really happy staring at the new set of clothes that brought life to her wardrobe. As she walked out of the room, she halted at the entrance of the staircase, sighting Asher sitting on the sofa of the main living room and next to him was Kyle. He was reporting something important to Asher, and the look on Asher's face told her he wasn't pleased with what he was hearing.

Abigail hastened down the stairs, joining Asher and Kyle in the main living room. "Were you able to find out anything?"

Kyle sent a quick glance at Asher, before meeting Abigail's eyes again. "Yes, Mrs Reed,"

Abigail's lips broke into a smile. "Tell me what you found out?"

Kyle sent another glance to Asher who nodded approvingly for him to continue speaking.

"Mrs Reed, there's a new guy in the picture. For now, I am yet to find out how he's connected to Clara and Emma, but his number was on the woman's phone. He's just a random newbie with few fans" Kyle handed the tablet to her. Abigail's eyes narrowed as she took in the guy's picture. He was unfamiliar. She handed the tablet back to Kyle, shaking her head.

"I do not know him," she left Asher and Kyle in the living room so they could talk about some work.

She didn't feel like going back to her room, so instead, she decided to go for a run.

Luckily, she still had enough strength to run. And this was good for her, for her weight loss plan and also she had time to think about certain things from last night which made her cheeks color unconsciously.

While running and thinking about her life, the housekeeper, Miss Melissa, suddenly appeared and blocked Abigail's way, making her slow down a bit, breathing heavily, "What is the matter, Melissa?"

The housekeeper lowered her head respectfully to Abigail, then she asked, "Madam, are you not going to the hospital today?"

Abigail's eyes widened.

Hospital? For what?
