Chapter 14.1
It was still intact.
It was three love letters written by Dave to Abigail, which she had always kept in the hidden compartment of her purse, feeling it was precious to her.
Now she didn't even have enough courage to reopen it and read it again. She didn't want to remember the past, a bit afraid she might cry her heart out after reading it.
Her life had changed. Dave who she once loved wholeheartedly and belonged to was now a big movie star in the entertainment Industry, and he only accomplished that by using her and stealing her script.
Abigail took a deep breath, she didn't pull out the letters, she only stared at them. She would only take them out when she finally met with Dave. Abigail had a lot to say to him, and if Dave was really as she tagged him to be, a scumbag and a thief, she would set these letters on fire so they could burn to ashes. If only she could also burn the memories of her and Dave to ashes. After a while, she zipped it close.
Abigail checked her wallet, in search of any cash that she could use to buy a phone and she realized there wasn't any cash in it. However, she found a platinum card. She was surprised. She took the card in her hand and inspected it.
She knew her family, the Crawfords were not bad financially, but they were not so rich that they would have a platinum card. So she guessed Asher Reed must have given her the card.
To confirm her suspicion, she took the card and dropped her wallet back in her bag, she left her bedroom and went to the dining hall. Abigail found the servants cleaning up the table, but she couldn't find Asher there. She asked about him and was informed by the housekeeper that he was in his office.
Quickly, she climbed the stairs, gaiting to his office. She knocked on the door, and heard him mumble a cold, 'come in'. She pushed the door open, sticking her head through the door.
Asher seated behind the glassy table, working on his laptop, his green eyes pulled up to the door.
"What is it?" He asked coldly with his eyes stuck on her. She couldn't stop her eyes from rolling. He had a cold personality, but she was getting kind of familiar with it.
She moved inside, shutting the door behind her. She stopped at his table and placed the platinum card on the glass table, sliding it close to Asher. "Was it you that gave me this card?" She asked.
Asher's eyes dropped to the card on the table before nodding, indifferently.
A small smile spread on her lips. "That's great then. I want to go shopping,"
He curled a brow, studying her. "Shopping?"
She nodded. "I hate the clothes in the wardrobe, they are so dull and gloomy, plus, I need some other things and a phone. What is the password for the card?"
He didn't retract his stare. "Zero, six, nine," He said to her.
That's a really good password. Easy to remember. "Thank you. And do not worry, as soon as I start working, I will pay you back."
He shifted his stare to his laptop, not replying to her.
"Thanks again, I will leave you to work." She rushed, turning to the door when Asher's voice made her stop.
"Let the driver take you there," Asher said without looking up.
"There's no need. I was thinking of driving there instead. Tell me, where do you keep the car keys?"
Asher tilted his head to stare at her as if saying 'you are joking right?'.
She stared back at him in the same manner. She had only lost her memory, it wasn't as if she had become a bloody idiot who couldn't do anything.
He pulled his gaze away from her, returning it to his laptop, pretending he had not heard anything she said.
Abigail let out a sigh. Asher Reed can be cold and difficult to get along with. Just when she was about to take a step forward and walk up to him, Asher got up first and closed his laptop. He walked past her.
"Aren't you still leaving?" He asked as he reached the door, and she hadn't moved from her spot.
His question confused her. Was he taking her to where the car keys were?
"Follow me," Asher said, and she obediently trailed behind him. He led her to the garage.
Abigail's mouth parted open. "Bloody hell!" Never in her life had she seen so many expensive cars in one place. They were of different colors and shapes, but they were similarly expensive. It turned out that the car keys were usually placed in the garage.
Slowly, she inspected the cars, trying to make a choice. "That one," She pointed at a sports car, having a huge smile on her face.
But her smile vanished when Asher walked past her choice.
"Isn't that car okay?" She asked, making him pause to look at her.
"Well," He started calmly, but she cut him off.
"Please, let me have the red sports car,'' she pleaded desperately, clasping her hands together while her deep eyes implored him.
Asher folded his hands on his chest. "You can take the red sports car out, but be careful when driving, it's expensive." He counted his words, before tossing the keys to her.
Abigail smiled excitedly, entering the red sports car. She closed the door and fastened her seatbelt. Asher stood, watching her as she drove off.
Just as she expected, her driving skills were as good as she remembered. Abigail drove out of Reed's mansion and navigated her way to where her friend, Mia was waiting for her.
She halted the car in front of Mia who rushed closer upon sighting her friend. Mia had a wide smile on as she entered the car.
"Wow Abby, where did you get this precious baby from?" Mia whistled while admiring the car.
Abigail was about to speak when unexpectedly a car crashed into hers from behind.
Oh no!
