Chapter 30

Mia shrank her neck and looked at Abigail with a confused expression.

"What do you know?" Mia asked cautiously, regarding her friend.

Taking a sharp breath, Abigail desperately tried to hold back from crying. Her voice was hoarse as she spoke, "I know about my dad's death, my mom being in the hospital, and my sisters missing."

Mia sighed sadly, "I knew I couldn't hide it from you for long. Honey, you must promise me that you won't do what you did before and cut me off."

After hearing Mia's words, Abigail's eyes welled more in tears. Mia was up quickly, she went round the table and sat next to Abigail.

She picked up a tissue and helped Abigail wipe her tears. "Abby don't cry, no matter how hard the future is, I will be by your side, always"

Abigail grabbed the tissue in Mia's hand and continued to wipe her tears, "I'm not going to cut you off. We are stuck with each other forever"

Mia sighed in relief, "That's good, what do you want to eat tonight? I'll treat you."

But Abigail smiled, pulling out Asher's platinum card. "I will treat us later, but what I need desperately are my memories."

Mia pondered, "So you need me to help you get your memories back?"

"Yes, did I ever tell you why I married Asher?" She asked curiously. That question had bugged her many times.

She knew she got married to Asher because of a business deal. At first, she thought her father was behind it, but her father couldn't be behind it. Abigail wanted to know the real reason she married Asher Reed.

After a few sips of her coffee, Mia said slowly, "Yes, mainly because of your mother's medical expenses and because at that time, Asher helped you deal with your father's company."

This answer was similar to what Abigail guessed. She hated the fact that could not afford the medical expenses of her mother at that time, and also presently she still couldn't afford her mother's medical expenses.

"Mia, then did I ever tell you why Asher married me?" Abigail asked hurriedly.

Without needing to think, Mia shook her head, "You didn't say anything to me, because at that time you didn't know why Asher would marry you."

Abigail's eyes widened, "And I still did not know. I asked Asher after I lost my memory, and he said it was because of a deal, but I really couldn't figure out what deal I had to make with him at that time,"

"To be honest, I can't figure it out either. After all, a lot of women were throwing themselves at him. Not only did many celebrities find him attractive, but many women in the entertainment industry liked him." Mia said shortly.

Knowing that Mia had to be telling the truth, Abigail subconsciously nodded her head.

"Mia, I'll tell you a secret."

Once Mia heard the word a secret, she was so excited that she picked up her coffee and drank it all, even her voice was jumpy, "Tell me quickly, what is the secret?"

"Relax Mia." Abigail whispered to her friend, "Before I tell you this secret, I have to tell you something else first."

Mia crippled her brows, confusedly. She had no idea what Abigail was talking about. "Stop messing around, talk to me,"

Abigail sighed lightly, "Sweetheart, you need to start acting like a lady, otherwise, how can you get married?"

"Come on Abigail, stop messing with me and tell me your secret," Mia coaxed, grabbing her hand.

"You almost got me in trouble, because you insisted that I try that big wear I bought the other day, Asher came back from work and saw me in it, he got the wrong impression and we almost—"

Mia jerked forward, curiously. "Almost what?"

"Nevermind, there's no way you are ever getting me in such trouble again," Abigail took her cup and drank from it.

Mia simply shook her head. "You have no idea what you did Abigail. That was the best opportunity to get close to Asher and convince him to take you to the Golden award night."

"You don't understand Mia, how am I supposed to just have sex…" she lowered her voice, glancing around the cafe, ensuring no one was listening to her conversation. "...to have sex with a man I barely know. Do you know what the worst thing is?"

"No, tell me quickly! I'm dying of curiosity."

Seeing how anxious Mia was, Abigail called the waiter and ordered another cup of coffee for her.

"I still have no way of convincing Asher to take me to the Golden award night,"

Mia sighed frustratedly. "My dear Abigail, why do you always make things difficult for yourself?"

"You are a reporter, Mia, you must have a lot of knowledge, then help me think, other than forcing myself on Asher and seducing him, what other way can I convince Asher to take me to the Golden award night?"

Mia sighed lightly, "Seducing your husband was the shortest route to meet Dave, but since you are against it, I have a way, but it won't be so easy though,"

"I don't have a choice, Mia," Abigail rested back on the chair. "Tell me what I have to do," she muttered.

Mia leaned forward and gestured her hand for Abigail to pull closer as well. Abigail did as her friend said, and Mia whispered into her ears.

"No way!" Abigail's eyes went around, pulling up to meet Mia's eyes twinkling with a smile. "Do you think it'll work?"

"Of course, it has to," Mia leaned back on her chair. "All you have to do is ensure everything goes as planned,"

Abigail had a giant smile on her face, even as she went back home. Immediately, she checked her phone, looking for Asher's phone number, but she couldn't find it. She called the housekeeper and asked for Asher's phone number, and Miss Melissa gave it to her.

After Abigail punched the number in her phone, she realized the previous Abigail didn't even have Asher's number. How could she not even save her husband's number?

Without thinking too much she saved it, inhaling deeply as she prepared herself to call Asher. It felt weird. But she had no choice. She dialed his number and brought it to her ears. This was her first time calling his number, she didn't know why she felt so nervous.
