Chapter 30

Arcadia had been dolled up, she was excited that she would be crowned the Queen of the north, how she wished her mother was here to see her.
She walks down the stairs with her best man, Asher, and he took pride in the beauty of his Queen. Everyone had gathered and the throne room was full. And so were Mace's men, waiting to attack and slay their target.
They walked down the red carpet together and flowers are thrown at them to welcome them, she turns to him and she couldn't hide the smirk on her face,
'Why are you smiling?" He bends to whisper to her, and she giggles to herself, 'you're such a mystery your majesty." He shakes his head before stopping half way to the throne, 'I believe this is where I leave you." He bows and excuses himself.
She stands at the middle of the throne room, waiting to be crowned the Queen. The sage walks up to her and puts his hand on her head, she takes a small bow out of respect and smiles at him,
'Are you the one crowning me?" Her voice is dipped in sarcasm and she could see the discontent in his eyes,
'Yes, unfortunately I am." He couldn't even stand looking at her, 'it is on a joyous occasion that we are going to have a new ruler. We are here to crown the daughter of King Magnus, Ar—"
'Excuse me sage, I am the daughter of Queen Octavia and not King Magnus, please say that again and do it right." Her correction earned snickers from her subjects, the sage is highly humiliated but he keeps it together,
'We are here to crown the daughter of Queen Octavia, princess Arcadia!" She takes another bow and that sounded all levels of right in her ears, 'the Sceptre?" He requested for the holy staff and it is brought to him on a purple pillow. It is crafted out of gold and decorated with rubies, he uses it to tap her shoulders twice and this causes an uproar.
'Bring the crown." The maids bring a crown on a white pillow and present it to Mazi, 'I hearby crown princess Arcadia as our ruler and she will be addresseds Queen Arcadia!! Everyone pay—"
'Stop!!!" All heads turn to see Beta Azeah with a scroll in his hands, 'do not curse yourself as blasphemous in the goddess's eyes sage Mazi!!! This I not what late king Magnus wanted!! It states that here in his will!" He shows the scroll for everyone to see.
Murmurs began to fill the hall until the sage requested for silence,
'Let me see the scroll Azeah." He asks for it and the Beta willingly hands it to him, he opens it and begins to read to himself,
'King Magnus never said anything to me about his will," she wondered what this new drama was all about,
'He wouldn't want to give his kingdom to an illegitimate child!!" He scoffs at her and the murmurs begin to get louder,
'He may not be my father but I am my mother's child!! Watch your tongue or I would cut it off!!" She was getting annoyed by all these old men, Asher was right when he said she should've just killed them all in the first place.
'King Magnus was the rightful ruler of the kingdom, and you're not his child, that means you do not deserve to be called the queen, yet alone a princess." He throws mud on her character and that is when the rumors begin to get even louder.
'King Magnus did nothing for the kingdom, we only enjoyed the efforts of the Queen," Asher speaks in her defense, 'if a king is classified as one who takes care of his people then king Magnus was never king, it was Queen Octavia that was the king all along." His defense made sense and the people began to look at it from his perspective.
'That is not how this works, Magnus was crowned after his brother King Fang passed away, it means he has the throne and he would decide who to give it to irrespective of what he is during his regime." Azeah shoots back and this has angered Asher to almost the point of no return, he was ready to bring out his sword and fight this man to the death.
The sage finally looks up from the scroll and dramatically wipes the sweat of his brow,
'It states here that king Magnus wills the throne to his most trusted Beta, Beta Azeah, and not princess Arcadia." There is an uproar from the crowd but the sage calms them down, he turns to see the horrified look on Arcadia's face and he suddenly began to smile, 'I'm sorry princess but according to the king's will then you cannot be called the Queen of the North."
'What? No!! You're taking my birthright away from me!!" She grabs the scroll and reads it herself, Magnus never gave her the right to his kingdom, 'then what do I inherit as being the Queen's child?!" She demanded an answer as both her parents owned the kingdom.
'Women are not considered in this type of matter, please leave the Queen out of it." Azeah chides and this prompts Arcadia to throw her fan out and hold it at his neck,
'I will behead you If you speak about my mother that way again, who do you think you are to say women do not matter?! Even the goddess is a woman!! Do not cross your limits Azeah!!" She calls him by name but not without the venom dripping from it.
'It is you who is crossing limits, you're illegitimate!! And you cannot sit on the throne!! It Is a taboo to the royals' blood line, you're impure blood." He growls back at her, his eyes glowing danger but Arcadia would fight him and die than let him sit on the throne while she was alive.
'Princess, unfortunately you cannot be Queen, we would crown Beta Azeah as king instead." The sage decides but she is against it,
'But beta Azeah is not a royal, he is a commoner like we all are!! It is also a taboo if he sits in the throne!!" Sheila moves past the crowd and into the light,
'But king Magnus has willed it to me out of trust, that qualifies me to be the king and rule! Stay out of this!!" He tells her to back off and it had become a drama for all of their guests, they wondered who would take over the kingdom now.
Would it be Beta Azeah or princess Arcadia?
'But what Magnus did is against the rules!! Each king gave something to their wives as long as the were married to them, Magnus didn't divorce Queen Octavia so he has no right to leave her and her child without something!! It does not matter if he is alive or dead, if he has not given anything to the Queen then he cannot give his kingdom out!!"
Arcadia was surprised as to how much knowledge Asher was carrying around in his head, she had no idea he knew so much about politics. Or maybe her father had been teaching him a thing a two about it.
'The Queen died before Magnus was murdered by Xerxes, she is identified as a traitor and am immoral woman." Azeah speaks up, and everyone murmurs, he was right, the Queen cheated on the king, Asher wasn't entirely sure what to say again,
'But the way at which the king acquired her was wrong, it was against her will!! And that is against the goddess herself!! If you wish to fight the goddess then go to the mountains and ask her to come down herself. The king did wrong and that prompted the Queen to do so too!!" Sheila speaks up, her breathing a bit ragged.
'There is no use bringing this up, a king has the right to take whomever he pleases and at whatever time. It states here in his will that Azeah should be king and the princess gets nothing." The sage finalised, he didn't have all the time in the world to listen to them argue back and forth.
He grabs the Sceptre and taps it on Azeah's shoulder and he grabs he crown, 'because princess Arcadia is not the child of a royal and it states in the late king Magnus' will that Beta Azeah becomes the king, I hearby crown Beta Azeah as the new king of the North!! He shall hereby be called king Azeah!!" The crown is about to touch his head.
'And who said princess Arcadia isn't royalty?"
