Chapter 39

'Do you like this one?" He showed her a pretty dress, it was green and it had a pattern of flowers on it, 'or this one?" Then he pulls out a pink silky short dress that had stones decorate it at the hem, her eyes scan the dresses, not knowing which one to pick because both were pretty.
She takes the two of them and hugs them to her chest, putting ownership on them. He chuckles at her behavior,
'You can have them both." Loki smoothens her hair that always had a way of getting rough every five minutes, 'this is what you will wear and you're not allowed to wander alone, you have to be with me and if you can't find me then you would be here, okay Orla?" She nods slowly at his statement as she admired her new dresses, 'great!"
The last thing he wanted was Czar and Mace taking advantage of her, knowing them both all too well, they would eat her and wipe their mouths clean. She wasn't mentally stable for that, it could do more damage to her.
But it would be hard putting a tag on her since he couldn't smell her, she had no scent whatsoever and she might get bored in the room. She particularly liked walking around the palace.
He needed something, then it hits him. He bends and she cocked her head to the right slightly; what was he doing? She scratches her hair slightly as he brought out a box, old with age but still clean, he sits on his bed and calls her to him.
She hops on him and it surprises him, and that is when he actually took the time to appreciate how beautiful she was, but he was different. He had more self control than his fellow Beta and his master combined. He brings out the bells from the box and straps it to her feet,
'That way I would know." He smiles to himself, ever since his ears were almost destroyed by Octavia's scream, they were more sensitive and he could hear better than most of his wolves now. You could say it was his new ability. It was as good as being able to hear someone breathe. And with the bells he would be able to keep track of her if he couldn't smell her.
'Thank….you…." She hugs him loosely and he hugs back, 'rune…." She kept repeating that but he had no clue what it was. He had to begin her treatment or he feared she might be stuck this way forever.
'Yes I would get it for you soon." He rubs her back affectionately until he hears a knock on his door, 'come in." He commands and she stares into his green orbs, 'what's wrong?" He smiles a little at her, her lips were tempting him but he knew better.
The maid comes in and her mind begins to think inappropriate things as she saw them in that position, but she shoves it aside, she knew Beta Loki was not like Beta Czar,
'Master…..you have a letter…" She brings it out and hands it to him, the scent of roses hits him and his heart begins to sink, 'may I leave or do you need something else?" She's smiling a little as she knew what those letters meant, she had been delivering them for a while now and from the scent alone she knew it was a woman. And the same woman.
But the look on his face bothered her a little but who was she to ask?
'I'm fine, thank you." He gives her permission to leave and she closes the door behind her, Orla grabs the scroll and takes a good sniff at it, her nose wrinkles and she begins to open it, 'hey!! Don't read it!" He collects it back from her in haste and her eyes begin to water, he didn't like it when she was about to cry, 'it's from someone…." Sheila still haunted his heart.
'Roses…..rune…." She wanted the letter and she was trying to get it from him,
'Noo!!" He didn't want her reading it, it was personal, 'does roses mean rune?" He asks her and she freezes for a while, she nods slowly and his brows cock, he didn't know whether she was saying the truth or maybe she was just saying so to get the letter from him.
'Give me.. please…." She clutches at the scroll and he gives it to her, it's not as if she would understand it anyway, he doubts if she could read, she opens it and her face begins to twist in confusion, 'what's this?" She points to the first letter on the scroll and he laughs,
'Can't you read?" He didn't believe it, such a pretty woman was uneducated, she shakes her head sadly and she's about to cry again, 'no no! Don't cry, I'll read it to you, it's just the curse, you've forgotten almost everything." He kisses her forehead, he takes the scroll from her and his heart sinks to the bottom of the sea, 'kill him; the one with a scar on his hand."
There is nothing but silence, he didn't understand what she was trying to say now, but he was beyond pissed. He decides to put it away but Orla didn't want to let it go,
'What….does it mean?" She asks him but he isn't ready to speak, 'Loki?" She finally says his name and it brings a smile to his face,
'It's nothing Orla," he pushes it aside but she wouldn't send a letter if it was truly unnecessary, he knew Sheila wasn't like that. So what does she know that he didn't? He was in charge of the soldiers, could there be someone trying to betray the king?
'What's wrong?" She pulls his cheeks as he was deep In thought, he pulls her off him, 'where are you going?" Her words were becoming more fluent,
'I would be back soon." He takes the scroll with him and goes to check on his men, she runs after him with the bells singing with each step she took, 'stay in the room Orla." He orders and she freezes in her step, she's sad but she reversed her steps just to listen to him.
He takes turns and turns, looking for what Sheila could be talking to him about. He opens her scroll and sees tiny words at the bottom, 'when the deed is done, come to the forest to thank me, and I need to speak to you about something." He closes the scroll again, 'she's crazy!" He screamed to himself, so pissed with her reckless behavior.
What would Arcadia think when she finds out that he's sending him letters to help him? She knows clearly that they're enemies so she should stop helping him. Even though, deep down, he looked forward to all of her letters. But it still wasn't the right thing to do
She shouldn't be talking to him, she shouldn't be hinting him about his soldiers. She was being unfaithful to her Queen, or maybe she was just looking out for him. She would be wanting Mace to die, why was she testing him this way?
She had sent him three of this letter and since then, three soldiers have been executed already as a result of planning to go against Mace. For all he knew it could be a trap, so he thought until he killed the first and the second, he blindly believed her when he caught the third trying to stab Mace while his back was turned.
Now this was the fourth and he didn't know why she was doing this. Why was she helping him? He opens the scroll again, to see something faintly written at the edge of the paper, he takes a moment to actually read what was there. It was so faint that he had to squeeze his eyes to be able to focus on the disappearing italicized words,
'I love you."
