Chapter 34

The wind whistles in their ears and she moves her hair away from her face, she needed to hear the full story,
'After my father passed away, Magnus, my step uncle began to rule and he made my life hell." He takes a deep breath, 'I never looked at everything he took from me because I wanted to be the strongest there could ever be. I lived like a normal man, so I never felt like royalty." He takes a look at the star and tries to grab it,
'Father always told me that I could hold the stars in my hands if I wanted to, I was the youngest but the strongest Beta by the time I reached the age of awakening," he turns to her, 'then the war came. Magnus overpowered your mother's clan and slept with all of the women, using the excuse of finding his mate as a cover up." His words sink into her head, it was so obvious why her mother hated him with everything that was inside of her.
'……….." She still couldn't get the words out of her throat, she knew he was disgusting but she never expected something this horrific.
'Then he saw my wife," he liked claiming her even though she was no more, 'and your mother was the strongest in her clan, the guardian of the rose tree, the very tree that granted healing energy from just being around it, he took her for her power and made her his mate." He notices her silence, and he pushes some of her locks behind her ear,
'It's explainable why mother hated him so much….." It was the best thing she could come up with,
'Yes…..they never got along even though they pretended to be the happy couple. Your mother was relentlessly going against everything he did, she wanted to be a good ruler and she wouldn't keep shut about his wrong doings. It led to her being constantly abused by him……" Those memories were still fresh in his head, all the times he would hit and rape her but she couldn't fight back.
'How did you become a thing?" She does weird hand gestures to explain herself better, he laughs a little and he smiles,
'It was the day your mother snapped, she hit Magnus so hard he lost sight for three days." She erupts in laughter, it was sonorous just like when Octavia laughed, 'I was just a child then and I wanted to defend my uncle, and then she hit me, I couldn't speak for five days."
'What were you thinking?!" She tries to catch her breath after the explosive laughter,
'I never used to think back then, it was all so sudden, one moment I see my uncle being thrown like a rag doll and the next, it's me." He laughs a little at the memory, when she was still on her youth and could take on a thousand men at once,
'Then what happened?" She seemed very interested in his love story, her eyes were sparkling with curiousity,
'Well……. We fought often, and I didn't like her at first because she was always nagging and insulting me." He sighs a little, 'but even though I didn't like her…..I was always drawn to her…..and her playing was incredible. I would train and she would sit outside to play her flute and it would put me at ease. I would stare at her awkwardly until she caught me one day." He smiles even wider as his daughter giggled hysterically,
'What did she do?" She expected something childish and her guess was right,
'She threw the flute at me and I got this." He smoothens his hair to the back and points at a very old scar, it was little but it was there,
'I thought you said you got that from training." She remembered one of his stories,
'While training, she threw it at me." He laughs loudly, it felt like yesterday, 'I had to give her her flute back and she still thrashed me with words, she was impossible….but…." He begins to daydream,
'But what?" She wanted to know, that look in his eyes always meant something romantic,
'She still forced me to get it treated, she did it for me……but I got more bruises than ointment. She was caring but she was also angry at men. I couldn't resist her as her energy always drew me to her and we began to converse. It was then I discovered that she was a born sadist with an eating disorder."
'That sounds a lot like mother alright." She giggles again, 'when did you realize you were in love with her?" Her question stuns him, his face turning a red color,
'Well……I did develop something for her but as part of my training, I ignored it…….until she told me that she loved me. I couldn't understand what that meant cause I was still very young but I didn't want an illicit relationship……but how could I say no when she kept poking at me?" He was saying too much and when he turned to his daughter, she was grinning like a fool. He pushes her head away out of embarrassment, 'you should go to bed."
'No!! I want to hear the end of the story!!" She protests, 'then mom started to tempt you, then….you started to fall…." She kept shifting closer to him, tugging at his arm, 'and then you're in……" She wanted him to complete it but she had eroded his personal space,
'In her bed……" He was a shameless man and still is, 'she didn't let it end there, she wouldn't let me go, and that was when I realized I was really in love with her……. Although my uncle kept his relationship with her, it was hard for her to fall pregnant….until she gave the news of her pregnancy."
'And everyone thought it was for Magnus?" She wiggles her brow,
'Yes……where in fact it was actually for me…." He face palms so hard, 'what can I say? She turned me into a traitor and made me feel proud about it." He shrugs sheepishly and this makes her laugh even more.
'I think the goddess made everything the way it is…..if Magnus never ruled then you would have never seen her, and I wouldn't have been born. So maybe everything does happen for a reason." She concludes and she goes for a star,
'The only thing that shouldn't be is Mace, he has been causing too much trouble and we need to put him out before he burns everything." The topic changes too quickly and this puts her in a trance,
'You're right, he's taken away too much from me and he almost killed Asher, I would make sure to deal with him accordingly. But first, we need new officials, I cannot have traitors in my own palace and be able to wine and dine with them. I want sage Mazi and Beta Azeah publicly whipped and beheaded in the town square Tomorrow." She sees the smirk on her father's face,
'And Alpha Mace?" He wanted to know what his daughter would do to that lousy excuse of a man,
'He…..I would make sure to burn his kingdom, and take back our women."
