Chapter 20: Are You Unhappy?

Four years later.
Magic Castle Daycare.
Katie tiptoed to pick up the children, and when she saw the little angel running towards her, her cold face couldn't help but show a smile.
"Take it slow, my precious." She took a few steps forward without thinking.
Four-year-old Eddie Parker ran up and hugged Katie, her voice filled with milkiness, "Is Daddy still not coming to pick up me today?"
Katie rubbed his forehead and said, "Your daddy has some things to take care of today, he'll come after he's done."
"Next, I will come back and accompany you."
A trace of disappointment streaked across Eddie's face. He had thought that his father would come to pick him up.
Katie sighed and gently rubbed his head, her eyes filled with compassion.
Four years ago, after Elio disappeared for a whole two weeks, he suddenly appeared before her, holding a baby doll in his arms. He said it was his child.
It was his and Julia's child.
Although he didn't mention too much about Julia, Katie could see that he truly cared for this child.
Despite his coldness towards the child on a daily basis.
She had previously thought that Elio was pretending, pretending to forget everything about Julia.
But in these four years, she hadn't heard a single thing about Julia from his mouth. There wasn't even a trace of Julia in his study or their home.
Only then did she have to believe that he had genuinely forgotten. Forgotten everything about Julia.
However, since four years ago, he would mysteriously disappear for a period of time every year.
"Auntie, are you unhappy?" Eddie was always a very sensitive child. He looked up at her with worry-filled eyes.
Katie picked him up and smiled, shaking her head. "As long as our Eddie is happy every day, Auntie will also be happy every day."
"Really?" Eddie smiled at her.
"Really." Her only wish now was for this baby in her arms to grow up healthy. No matter what happens, she will give all her love to this child.
It was what she owed him.
When Eddie returned home with Katie, Elio was already sitting in the living room.
He wore a pair of gold-rimmed glasses, adding an extra touch of elegance to his already elegant demeanor.
The moment Eddie saw Elio, he let go of Katie's hand and ran towards Elio.
"Daddy!"
Elio exuded an aura of being unapproachable, unfamiliar to strangers. However, Eddie was not afraid of Elio at all, even rather fond of him.
Perhaps it was because this child inherited Julia's character. From a young age, only Julia wasn't afraid of Elio. No matter how mad he got, as long as she smiled at him, all his anger would instantly dissipate.
Just like this child.
Elio set aside his phone and embraced Eddie in his arms.
"What was Daddy busy with today? Why didn't Daddy come to pick up Eddie?"
"There were some matters that needed to be taken care of."
"Are they very important?"
"They are." Elio was particularly patient with his son.
"Are they more important than Eddie?" Eddie asked in his sweet and childish voice.
Elio smiled, "Yes, they are even more important than my Eddie."
A touch of sadness appeared on the child's face, but quickly, a bright smile bloomed again. "Okay...I understand."
