Chapter 27: What is He Doing Here?

"He's here." Nathan stood by the French window, gazing at the man standing at the doorway, and softly said to Julia.
Julia continued playing with the figurine in her hand, "Oh."
"Aren't you curious about why he's here?"
"Not really." Julia has always known Elio's temperament. Once he suspects something, he will dig deeper into it. Since the moment she appeared in front of him, she never intended to hide anything. It wasn't her fault, and she didn't need to live her life as a sinner.
"Do you know that he would come?"
"I didn't know." Julia sighed.
"So, will you go down and see him?" There was an imperceptible tension in Nathan's voice.
Julia shook her head, "No, as I've said, I have nothing to do with him anymore. Even if I was once involved with him, there won't be any in the present or future."
"Really?" Nathan's voice carried a hint of excitement.
Julia looked up, her expression filled with doubt, "You seem really happy?"
Nathan coughed lightly, "No, not really. It's just, if you could stay by my side for a longer time, I would be happier."
Julia was taken aback.
"Nathan, you need to know about the history between us—"
Before she could finish her sentence, Nathan had already opened the door and left. "I'm going to attend to the guests. It's impolite to leave them waiting at the door. If you have something to say, wait until I'm done, alright?"
Without waiting for Julia's response, Nathan had already left.
Looking at the figurine in her hand, Julia let out a sigh.
She understood Nathan's feelings for her, but after everything she had been through, how could she still be with someone? Now, she even disgusted herself, so how could she have the capacity to love someone else?
On the other hand, as Nathan went downstairs, Elio had already been welcomed into the living room by the butler, and a fragrant cup of coffee was being served.
"Good day, may I ask why Mr. Parker is here this time?" The butler asked.
Elio was slightly surprised. If he remembered correctly, he hadn't told anyone his identity or name. As if sensing his confusion, Nathan continued, "Mr. Parker's name is well-known throughout the country. Although I've just arrived in this country, I've naturally heard of someone like Mr. Parker."
Elio didn't react much, he glanced behind Nathan but didn't see the figure he wanted to see. A trace of loneliness flickered in his deep gaze.
"I wonder if Mr. Parker has any business here?" Nathan no longer beat around the bush and went straight to the point.
Seeing Nathan's smile disappear, Elio asked directly, "Her, Julia, is she here?"
