CHAPTER 21 "JEALOUS 1"
THE next thing they know is good news from Daniel and Ara. Officially the two are dating and as real friends, it is only right to be happy about them.
Especially her, because she knows how Ara really feels for Daniel even though, in fact, being mortal enemies was how their story started.
"Jenny, can I invite you for a snack later?" it was Leo when they walked out the door of their classroom for their lunch break.
"A-Ah, y-you know ..." Jenny couldn't continue what she wanted to say when she heard the sudden ringing of her cellphone. "Excuse me," she said reading the text message that she received.
It was from Jason and he said that he couldn't have lunch with her because he will be eating with his new girlfriend at the canteen.
Jenny couldn't understand where the bad emotions that quickly wrapped around her chest came from because of the message she read from the young man.
This man is really unfair, he forbids me to come along with any guy and entertain suitors. But he's always dating and flirting with whoever he wants, so annoying!
"If you want, it's okay even if we have lunch together today since I don't have anyone with me," she thought of telling Leo.
Her classmate's handsome face quickly lit because of what she said. She knew that was what Leo had wanted to tell her for a long time, he was just hesitant because of Jason.
"Really? Sure, where do you want to eat?" he asked her.
"We can have lunch at the canteen!" her smiling reply to the young man.
*****
Just before they entered the university canteen, Jenny immediately saw Jason with a beautiful woman she knew had joined the Search for Mr. and Miss University of their school. If she's not mistaken that woman is taking a Computer Science course.
"You go ahead and I'll be the one to take our seat," she told Leo who quickly agreed with what she said.
Jason saw her immediately. But the reaction on his face was not good to the point that he even stopped with what he wanted to say when he recognized who she was with.
Jenny secretly felt happy. She just wants to show Jason that if he can flirt and change his girlfriend every month, she can also make friends with the person he hates the most.
It is not right that he will be enjoying his lunch with his new girlfriend while she will be eating all by herself, in other words, alone. Anyone, having her lunch with Daniel and Ara is not a good idea for her also since they both know that the two are now officially dating.
Jenny sat at a table not far from Jason and his current girlfriend. She even took the position where she will be facing her best friend and he will be able to see her smiling sweetly to Leo who she knew would annoy the young man very much.
"I'm sorry it took so long," Leo said as he approached her carrying the food he had ordered.
As she had planned, a very sweet and beautiful smile broke out of her lips before she answered what her handsome classmate said.
"It's okay, thank you by the way," Jenny said and then went to fix the food on the tray but Leo stopped her quickly.
"Allow me," he said with a smile afterward.
Although Jenny did not admit it, she had fun having lunch with her classmate. Despite the sharp gazes that she sees Jason throwing at her that she reciprocates with sweet smiles. She even waved at him which caused her to see that the young man's face seemed to darken for a moment.
And because Jason was there first to eat, the man also got up first to leave the canteen. She waved at him again then smiled sweetly at the woman clinging to his arm.
"You know what I thought Jason was your brother?"
When Jason and his girlfriend whom she doesn't even know what her name was, that was what she heard from her classmate.
Jenny laughed softly. "My best friend, he's a bit protective because we're both only children so he treats me like a sister," even though her heart didn't agree with what she said, the young lady still preferred to tell the truth.
Leo just nodded. "So it means that if I want to court you, I have to go through him first?" his smiling question in a tone that seemed to ask for assurance.
Jenny shrugged then laughed softly again. “Yeah I think so, it looks like that,” she added.
"Let's go?" Leo asked when he noticed that she had finished eating.
She just nodded then started to fix herself.
"Are you going to the library?" Leo asked her as they left the canteen.
"Yes, how about you?" she asked as a response to his question.
The young man shook his head. "I'll just buy something for a while, just in case I still have some time to go there, won't your friend be angry?" her classmate clarified.
"Of course he won't be angry, he's busy now, he has a new girlfriend," she said before they separated.
At the baggage counter of the library, she found Daniel on duty. Jenny smiled kindly at him as inside she was grateful and Jason was not there. But she almost jumped in shock when she heard a familiar voice from behind her.
"So, you're already here, good, we have a lot to talk about," he said emphatically, which surprised her.
"Hey!" she said shocked as she gripped her chest unknowingly. "Are you going to kill me in shock?" she asked with so much irritation in her tone.
It was then that Jason grabbed her by her arm and then without a word he pulled her away. She knew where he would take her, on the roof deck.
And why did this irritating man have to take her there? What is something private do they need to talk about that even Daniel can't hear?
"You're hurting me! What is the matter with you?!" Jenny asked angrily then massaged the arm which Jason held tightly earlier.
"What is your problem?" Jason's start.
She immediately stared into the young man's eyes. There she saw his fury for her and she could not understand what that was for.
Yes, and she really planned earlier to annoy him. But not like this that she could now see in his dark eyes that as if she is an enemy for him.
"What are you saying? What did I do?" she asked.
"Oh come on stop pretending because I know that you know what I'm saying, is that right? You know what I'm referring to!" he says emphatically.
Jenny rolled her eyes at what was heard. "I don't know what you are talking about, you're making me a fortune teller again. So let me tell you I have no plans to guess anything you feel or mean. If you will not tell me everything directly we will never be okay, get mad if you want, I don't care! " she said leaving the young man afterward.
Jenny heard Jason calling her name consecutively but she chose to ignore him. She was serious about what she said, she had no plans to start guessing and play like a fortune teller because every time she did that she always ended up expecting and hurting.
