CHAPTER 69 “DANCING IN THE RAIN"

Jason advised her to wait inside his office. The meeting began after the man formally introduced her to Paul whom she had only just remembered when she met him. She did see him at school but she didn't have a chance to talk to him.

The meeting took a little longer than the hour Jason had told her. It was then that she thought of taking a nap first on the long and beautiful leather couch inside the man’s office.

With all that has happened in the past few days, she can now say that she literally felt tired so she was easily carried away by a deep sleep.

*****

JASON smiled broadly as he walked into his office and saw Jenny sound asleep on the long leather couch. Then he approached the young lady with careful steps and then sat down at the wooden center table.

If he doesn’t do it now when else is the right time?

That was the question that suddenly entered his mind before he stood up and glanced at the wristwatch he is wearing.

He thought for a moment and then glanced at Jenny.

He didn't seem to be able to wake her up yet he knew she was very tired these past few days. Including the things that...

At the last thought, he quickly smiled along with a final decision that had already formed in his mind.

*****

"OH, I'm sorry I fell asleep," was Jenny said when she felt the gentle pat on her cheek.

"It's okay," Jason said with a sweet smile. "Let's go? We are going somewhere, ” he added.

Her eyebrows immediately met in astonishment. "Going somewhere? Where?" she asked.

She heard the young man clicks his tongue.

“No more questions, okay? Now let's go, the mall hours are only until nine o'clock now and it's already eight o'clock, ” he said with a smile.

When Jason said that, the young lady obeyed willingly. And it seems that the flow of traffic is also in line with whatever the young man's purpose in the mall is because fifteen minutes before the mall closing hours they reached it.

And they were able to park but only in the outside parking lot of the mall since Jason was in a hurry.

"Just a minute Jason, I might slip on the floor," she said trying to pull back her hand being held by the young man who when they entered the mall almost dragged her because he was walking so fast.

"Sorry sweetheart, it's all necessary," he said when he looked at a well-known jewelry store.

She heard a sigh of gratitude but the young man also whispered and it just reached her ears.

That's when Jenny's chest began to throb.

The sales representative who was there immediately took care of them, even though she noticed that they were nearly closed.

"Hi sir, do you need anything? Is there anything that I can do for you?" she asked Jason.

"Yes, miss. I want an engagement ring, the most beautiful and expensive for this woman I will marry!" Jason said gasping for breath then looked at her but still smiled.

Jenny's eyes immediately widened at what she heard. For a moment she remained stunned as she looked up at Jason who at that moment was being taken care of by the store employees.

She seemed to be floating in the air without anything she could say because in a flash, suddenly her surroundings turned pink. And the word surprised is lacking to describe how she really felt in those moments. As for her chest, it seemed to be pounding even harder. That's why she seemed surprised when the young man held her hand.

"Hey, what's wrong with you?" Jason's amuse question to her.

"H-Huh?"

At that point, Jenny heard the reaction of the people around them. Inside the store, the employees and even outside, some customers possibly peeked at what has been happening inside.

“Okay, I’m sorry if I surprised you. But I think I don't want to wait until tomorrow. It would be better if I do it now because it has been many years have been wasted since we separated,” began the young man holding her hand.

Jenny just nodded then waited for what Jason wanted to say but he said something else and that's not what she expected.

"Wait a minute, I'll pay for it first," he said, snatching the wallet from the back of his pants.

Jason then pulled out an atm card from there and handed it to the store manager. That's what she read on her nameplate. The process was short but for Jenny, it was probably the longest ten minutes of her life.

"Now it's okay," the young man said after he put his wallet back in the back of his pants. "Because I already paid," he said taking her hand and just bought this diamond engagement ring with a huge stone because just like he said before, he wanted the most expensive and the most beautiful.

When Jenny thought of that fact, she quickly became emotional, but even though she wanted to cry, she held back.

“Jen, I love you so much. From then on, until now, you are the only woman I always dreamed of. You are the reason for everything to me, my jealousy, smiles, doubts, and above all, my love. So, if you would agree, but I hope you agree because I can't agree that you disagree,” Jason said and there was a quick noise around.

"Let's get married? Please? Be my wife?” he said holding her hand.

Jenny's tears flowed quickly because of that. Because of the overwhelming and overflowing happiness and love in her heart.

She didn’t expect that in such a scene something she had long dreamed of and heard from Jason would happen. But now that it happened, she can say, it’s worth the wait.

"This time, it will be forever, and of course until eternity," the young man added when she remained silent.

“I-I love you too, so much, and yes, I will marry you. I would love to be, your wife,” she replied between cries.

At that point, Jason finally put the ring on her finger. Then he grabbed her face tightly and kissed her hard.

Regardless of the people screaming inside the store and even outside it, Jenny responded with those warm kisses to her by the man she was going to marry. Suddenly, in a flash, her shyness disappeared because she felt more of her love for Jason prevailed in her heart.

It was only a matter of time before they left the place holding hands. They were about to leave the mall when they noticed the heavy downpour.

"We don't have an umbrella," she said looking up at Jason who was still holding her hand with a beautiful smile on his lips that seemed to be plastered.

"Is that a problem?" he said pulling her hand away.

"Wait! It's raining!” she said so what the young man wanted to do was stopped.

Then the young man's beautiful eyebrows rose. “It was as if the rain hasn't always been with us? Is it not? How we started then and ended, isn't it with us? Now that we have a better ending for a new beginning, will you deprive us of being with it again?” Jason said that so meaningfully that she got the meaning.

“Oh, sometimes you can be romantic too? And it's not just pure jealousy of Leo that you know,” she teased her boyfriend then followed the words of a thrilled but weak laugh.

Jason's eyes stared at her questioning. “You were actually annoyed, but do you know what he said? He actually wants me to say hello for him, to my boyfriend!” she said giggling again.

Jason's eyes twinkled at what she said. "Really?" he obviously liked what she said.

"You're so jealous," she said, still shaking her head but the amused smile remained on her lips.

It was then that Jason tenderly pressed his forehead to hers. "I love you so much, I was like that because I just want you to be just mine," he said.

“And I am yours, you know that don' you? I told you that, several times,” she replied.

"Okay, now I won't be jealous anymore because soon you will really be mine," after saying that he quickly crushed her with a kiss that surprised her a lot.

That kiss was quick but she was able to lose herself. So when Jason pulled her to the parking lot of their car, she was like a robot.

When she got close to the car, Jenny immediately moved to aim at the passenger side. But she was shocked at what Jason did next. He grabbed the back of her neck and then turned her towards him to kiss her firmly on the lips again.

"Tell me, what kind of wedding do you want?" Jason asked when a moment later he released her lips.

It was then that Jenny seemed to recover from the shock as she smiled and opened her mouth to speak. “I want a simple and private wedding. Is that okay? ” she asked the young man.

“Are you sure? You don’t want to wear a wedding gown?” the young man asked.

“I will wear a wedding dress but a simple one. I'm satisfied with everything we have, then let's get married grandly when it's our golden wedding anniversary already, okay?” she asked the young man.

"Okay," Jason replied to her.

"Let's dance?" what entered her mind, Jenny did not know.

She saw Jason's face reflect astonishment. "Hey, you might get sick," he said.

Jenny rolled her eyes. "Oh, the rain won't do that to me, because we're friends!" she said holding Jason's hand then placing it on her waist while she in turn positioned her on his shoulder.

It was only a matter of time and they were happily dancing under the heavy downpour in the middle of that vast parking space of the mall. Regardless of the cold rainwater and the happy eyes watching them, they danced as if the world was theirs so when Jason kissed her, Jenny responded lovingly in the same way.
