**AUTHOR's NOTE**

*Hey all. Sorry for the delay, I've been out sick for a week and a half with a kidney infection but I'm finally on the mend. I'll be updating as I write today, so be on the look out for new chapter releases.*

"So, how did it go?" Miles asked, curling his arm around my shoulder as we walked to class.

"I'm not sure," I replied, shrugging my shoulder. "I had a proctor, and Luka isn't grading the test until later."

"Still not talking?" Miles questioned, his face turned down to look into mine, his concern clearly displayed.

"Not yet." I sighed, "But class really didn't offer that opportunity." I tried to give him a small smile to ease his worry, but if the look on his face was anything to decipher from, it came out looking more like a smirk.

Miles stopped abruptly, pulling me off to the side of the Hallway, out of the way of the other students hurrying to their next midterm exams; for once, their eyes were more focused on where they were going instead of on my fated and me.

"Listen, Kitten; I didn't want to say anything. Fuck I wanted to stay out of it," He growled, running his hands through his hair, making it stick up. "Fuck. I get it. Your bond with Luka is between you and Luka, and well, I guess Samael, but I can't just stand idly by and watch you suffer. You need to talk to him. The sooner, the better. I can't...No, we can't afford to be distracted by this. With Braham, Ket, and Only the stars know what else after you, we need to keep our minds cleared."

Biting my lip, I tried not to let the tears I felt crawling through my emotions spill. Overcome with guilt, knowing that I'd caused him so much worry, I cupped his face with my palm and stood on my tippy toes to gently kiss his lips. "I know. I'll fix this. Tonight." I smiled reassuringly, kissing him again before relaxing back on my heels. "But right now, I need to focus on passing this midterm, and," I glanced down at my watch I'd specifically worn for today, "I'd better hurry to class before I'm late. I doubt Freyja will make any allowances for my tardiness, especially after the entire school found out about my bond with Luka."

Miles looked like he wanted to say more, but he nodded instead, grabbed my hand, and headed to the classroom, choosing to walk the rest of the way in silence and leaving me to my thoughts, which for once weren't focused on all the chaos surrounding us. I had more concerning matters, like what the hell this midterm would be on and what skills I would have to show off. I wanted to ask Miles about the midterm, but I knew he couldn't give me any information, and honestly, I didn't want the advantage. I wanted to prove that I was worthy of my future title.
