Katrina
"Could she have used Divine Light?" Luka asked, directing his question at Miles.
"No. It was something else entirely. I was already on my way to Katrina, hoping to save her from Freyja when her gift exploded from her body. I wasn't in the direct line of sight, but some of it still managed to wash over me. It felt like a cleansing like all my past sins were being stripped from my body."
"I've heard of a power like that," Samael whispered; I read about it in the archives. If the power is what I think it is, then there's little known about it. Only one other person possed such a gift. Jehovah himself. He poured the gift into the clouds and forced rain to flood the lands. In the human world, it's referred to as the great flood. His gift spread throughout Earth, cleansing the people of their sins. He killed billions in that one act. The loss was devastating. It is said that it was the one gift he didn't pass down to others; he didn't want such a power that even he regretted going to another."
"Damn," Luka murmured, rubbing his chin as he began to pace, more likely trying to come up with a solution on how best to proceed.
As I watched him pace, I focused on remembering how to breathe. I was already terrified of Divine Light; I couldn't deal with the thought of trying to control something even more powerful.
"Do you think we could cover it up? Could we state that it was Divine Light and that Katrina's powers have grown due to our bonding?" Luka asked, once again looking toward Miles.
"My father will want her to perform Divine Light. He'll want to see it for himself." Aphelion stated, not waiting for Miles's response.
"I could tell him that I'm only capable of wielding such power under extreme duress," I murmured, speaking my thoughts out loud as I wet my dry lips.
"That could also backfire." Miles responded, finally speaking up, "We don't know how Zeus will react to the situation, but if he wants you to perform the act, then he will make it so you can. He'll forge a situation that requires you to use your gift."
"Well, what are we supposed to do? It's not like I can hide from the council." I asked worriedly, looking toward each of fated, hoping someone would come up with a solid plan that would keep us out of the council's clutches."
"We go forward with Luka's plans," Samael stated. "He and I are on the council now, so we will have some sway. I'll make sure my father's present too. And Ares will be there also. Miles will send word to him tonight about our situation. With the four of us present, we might be able to keep the situation under wraps."
"It's the best course of action," Beckett stated, agreeing with Luka and Samael, interrupting the protests of Miles.
"The engagement party is tomorrow. Knowing Zeus, he won't react until after the party. My mother put a lot of effort into the event, and she is the only person my father fears. He won't ruin the event for her." Aphelion stated, also siding with the other three.
"I don't like it." Miles grumbled, his body tensing against mine, "There are so many variables that could happen, but if Kitten agrees to it, then I will follow suit."
