Katrina
“What the hell was that out there?” Luka demanded, slamming his hand down on my desk aggressively.
Ah, so Professor Nazi it was. Not that I minded. Luka’s dominant, cruel teacher persona did things to me that made my body ache in all the right places.
“I don't know what you mean, Professor,” I respond before grabbing a pencil and tapping it against my lips.
“You had no clue how to protect yourself out there. Are you even paying attention to your studies?” He asked, his eyes flaring with anger.
“Well, you'd have a hard time paying attention, too, if you had a teacher who looked like you,” I reply, pursing my lips and trailing my pencil down into my cleavage.
“Damnit, Katrina!” Luka yells, slamming his hand against the desk beside me, “This is serious.”
“Wow,” I reply, trying to hide the hurt I felt at his outburst; none of my mates had ever spoken to me like that before.
“I’m sorry, Kit-Kat,” Luka states reaching over to touch my hand, only to be disappointed when I jerk it out of reach. He runs his hands through his hair as if trying to calm himself down. “From what I saw out there, you were defenseless. If anyone tried to harm you or kidnap you, you wouldn't be able to do anything to protect yourself. You have enemies everywhere, and if not enemies, then people who want to use you for their gain. Not even a week ago, you were unstoppable. You took down Hilda, and you created an unpenetrable shield; today, you couldn't even hurl water at someone’s face. What’s going on? Should the others and I be concerned?”
“I...” I start not knowing what to say, only feeling the tears threatening to form.
Luka must have also noticed the wetness in my eyes because he rushed over to my side and pulled me into his warm embrace. “I'm so sorry, sweetheart.” He states, cradling me and repeatedly kissing the top of my head softly. “I didn't want to make you cry. I just wanted...damn it. I'm just so fucking worried about you. Midterms are coming up, and if you fail your classes, people will think you're unfit to be mated to the heirs of the four kingdoms. It’ll be said that someone who cannot pass their first year of Divine Academy isn't intelligent enough to be a Queen, a ruler of all four kingdoms. The council will assume you're hiding something since your strength has already been shown, and they’ll try to lock you up and run tests on you, regardless of who you are. And Brahma...” Luka pauses as if he let something slip, and I'm not supposed to know who Brahma is.
“And Brahma what?” I ask, pulling myself from Luka’s arms and crossing my own as I stare at him.
“It's nothing.” Luka replies, “So what happened out there today?” He inquires, trying to change the subject.
“Nope. You don't get to keep things from me, Luka! This is my life. I deserve to know what's happening in it.” I shout, demanding he answer me.
Luka sighs while looking down at his feet. He stares at the ground for a moment, trying to decide if he should tell me or face my wrath. When he looks at me, I can tell he's made the right choice.
“Brahma is more determined now than ever to make you his. Hilda told one of his advisors indirectly while she was speaking with her father that you're a succubus and then went into detail as to why she thinks this is true. The angel. Hearing this and knowing that you possess the power of Michael has made you a top priority on Brahma’s list. He will not stop at anything until you're his.”
“And the lot of you didn't think this information was relevant to share with me?” I ask my anger now rising to the breaking point. I can feel my eyes start to swirl with hellfire, but that right now is the least of my worries.
“Katrina,” Luka starts lifting his hand, “You need to calm down before someone sees you.”
“No, Luka. You don't get to tell me to calm down. You and the others hid something from me that directly impacts my life.”
“If someone sees you right now burning with Hellfire, your life will be over. Our decision to not tell you won't matter, your anger won't matter, none of this will have mattered because you’ll be extinguished right here, and there will be nothing I can do to stop it.”
The thought of dying was enough to simmer my anger, but I could still feel the rage burning inside me. Grabbing Luka’s arm, I pull him towards me and close my eyes as I begin to concentrate.
“What are you doing, Katrina?” Luka asks.
“I’m going somewhere where I can release the fiery anger inside me in private,” I reply before feeling the familiar twist of teleporting.
When I open my eyes, I see the rest of my mates sitting on the couch with a surprised look on their faces due to Luka’s and my sudden appearance.
“What are you doing here so early, Kitten?” Miles asks, getting up to greet me.
“Don’t kitten me. You all,” I state, looking at each one of my mates, “have some serious explaining to do. I want to know why you thought you could keep secrets from me. Why you think not informing me about Brahma’s intentions was a good idea.”
“Okay, Princess.” Aphelion replies standing up, causing my attention to be directed toward him. It’s then that I notice the lightning crackling in his eyes. “We will tell you why we kept the information about Brahma from you, but then you get to tell us why you thought it was a smart idea to keep your meeting with my father a secret.”
