Chapter 22: Samael
“You want my blood?” Katrina asks me, looking at me as if I’m crazy.
“I just need a little bit.” I respond. “Just enough to coat the crest in front.
Katrina glances at the front of the book. There’s a small shield pictured above the title of the book. The shield is the insignia of the demon race, the four demon leaders portrayed on it.
“I’ll just prick your finger with a needle and then you just have to rub it over the crest.” I reply as I turn my attention back to Katrina. Just a few minutes ago her cheeks were flushed pink from her recent orgasm, now those same cheeks look pale.
“Are you okay Katrina?” I ask, as I tuck my thumb under her chin and have her look up towards me.
“I..I..I’m fine.” She stutters, “It’s just, needles scare the fuck out of me.”
Now it’s my turn to give her a disbelieving look, “But you have multiple piercings.” I responded.
The look on her face, makes me feel like I’ve kicked a puppy. She’s fidgeting with her hands and I can tell she’s nervous about something, when she finally speaks, my heart breaks for her. “Needles scare the shit out of me, but sometimes being scared was the only indicator I had to remind myself that I am still alive.” She whispers as she rubs her hands up and down her arms, as if she’s chilly.
“Katrina,” I call to her, as I pull her in tightly towards me, tucking her chin, into my neck “I didn’t know babe. I’m sorry, we can find a different way to figure out who your parents are.” I whisper into her hair as I stroke her golden locks with my hand.
She pulls away slightly and feints a smile smile, “No it was a solid plan. Do you have a knife by chance?” She asks, seeming a little calmer now that I’ve put the needle away.
I kiss the top of her head, before I release her from my arms. I feel around the bottom of the table until I find what I’m looking for, pressing against the loose wood until a hidden drawer slides out. I pull out a small knife and hand it too Katrina.
Without even blinking, she unsheathes the knife. She grabs the book on demonology placing it on the table before her. She stands up and holds her hand facing palm up right above the book where the family crest is. She quickly makes a deep slash on her hand. I watch mesmerized as her blood spills out of her hand and lands on the book.
The book starts to make a loud hissing noise as her blood soaks into it, a purple cloud of smoke coming from every crevice in the books original binding. Katrina doesn’t know it yet. She hasn’t gotten to the different colors of smoke that demons emit in class yet, but purple smoke means succubus type. The darker the purple the stronger the demon.
Katrina lets out a shriek, “Did you see that?” She asks me, not turning her head from the book, as she studies it throughly. Sometimes i forget that this entire world is new to Katrina. She’s alway so down to earth about everything.
“Yeah.” I reply. “It’s the book sorting through your DNA. The purple smoke means that you’re related to one of the succubi.”
“A succubi?” Katrina asks, one eye brow raised, “Hmm, I guess if I have to be a demon, a sex demon isn’t too bad. It might actually explain why I have four mates.”
I couldn’t help but chuckle, even with the pit that was forming in my stomach. My girl just goes with the flow. Nothing phases her.
“Maybe thats why I felt like you were sucking out my soul earlier.” I say with a wink.
She of course lets out a little gasp, “Wait What! Samael, you should have told me!” She shrieks.
“I’m just kidding love.” I reply.
The book makes a loud slamming noise against the table as it flips open to the very first page. Lilith, Queen of the Demons, Mother of Succubi, Mate to Lucifer was Katrina’s mother. There wasn’t any doubt now; Katrina was a powerful demon. A Demi-Demon.
“Lilith?” Katrina asked, “That name sounds familiar, isn’t she like Lucifer’s mate? How is she a succubus as well as a fallen angel?”
“Lilith had many powers before she descended the Heavens. She was also the most beautiful of all the angels. Every man wanted her, but her heart only belonged to one other, Lucifer. When Lucifer fell, Lilith was right behind him. The original God stripped her of all her powers but he couldn’t take her beauty. It is said, that the minute she descended into Hell, the underworld before my father took control, her wings turned black and she had the powers to seduce anyone and live off their lust. Lucifer used her ability, he’d make her seduce his enemies. Finally Lilith had enough. She helped with the uprising to defeat Lucifer. My father took control of Hell shortly there after and renamed it the Underworld.” I replied giving her a little history lesson on Lilith as well.
“So Lilith, err.. I guess Mom, wasn’t entirely a monster?” Katrina asked, her eyes pleading with me to tell her that yes her mother was a good person too, but I couldn’t lie to her.
“It depends on who you ask. In the end, yes, I believe she was a good person. In the beginning though, I wouldn’t vouch for her being a good person.” I reply giving her a small smile, that I hope didn’t look like a grimace.
“Well not everyone can be one hundred percent pure.” Katrina said shrugging like learning her mother was a deviant didn’t matter to her at all.
“You know it’s okay to show your emotions right?” I ask her as I run my thumb over her cheeks, “You won’t seem weak. You’re already one of the strongest people I know.”
She doesn’t open up, and I’m not expecting her to. I’ll be here when she’s ready to though and I’ll remind her of that constantly.
“So,” She says letting out a loud sigh, “Will one of these ancient books tell me who my father is… Oh god, it couldn’t possibly be Lucifer, could it? Luka saw my inner soul, he said I had one white wing and one black wing, maybe in the end mom managed to right her wrongs and she gained her angel status back.”
“No, it’s definitely not Lucifer. Lilith killed him long before you were conceived.” I reply.
“Whew, that’s a relief.” She responds running her hands through her blond hair, “Alright bring on the Angelology book, might as well get this out of the way now.”
I grab the ancient angel text book. Instead of a dark crest, this book has an insignia of angel wings and a halo. Yeah, its pretty cliche, but the Angels don’t really like change.
Katrina grabs for the knife again, but I quickly grab it from her hand, “With this text you don’t have to spill blood. You just need to target the insignia with some of your angel power.”
“Oh that’s just fantastic,” Katrina chirps happily, “I’ve been working on controlling my heavenly light power. This is the perfect opportunity to see if I’ve succeed in learning some control.”
I place the book down in front of her and step cautiously out of the way. Heavenly light won’t kill me, but it could cause me an immense amount of pain, if I’m struck by it. Katrina hovers her hand slightly above the angel insignia. I watch as her body stiffens and her eyes flash briefly from blue to black. Before the heavenly light even leaves her hand, the book is already starting to open and rifle through its pages. When her magic strikes the book, it flips straight to Michael’s page. Just as I expected, the arch angel and the fallen angel produced a child together. Katrina’s life would be at risk if anyone found out the truth about her parents.
***Thank you all for your continued support and patience throughout this process. I am trying to update as frequenlty as I can. My free time, AKA writing time has been very sparse lately and trying to update four books with two chapters weekly can be quiet diffcult with the limited time. I have two books that are nearing their end, so I should be able to spend more time on Divine Academy once those are done. Please like the chapters and leave me a comment on your thoughts.
