Katrina
The entire time Miles spoke, I felt his body shaking as he relived the trauma, his grip tightening like a python capturing its prey and squeezing so tightly that it had no chance of escape.
"Can't breathe." I choked away, feeling my ribs crushing in, squeezing against my lungs, and cutting off my airway.
"Miles, if you can't control your fucking self, I'll force you to let her go." Beckett roared, stepping forward, ready to fight if the need arose.
"Fuck, sorry, Kitten. It's just... I already had to watch it once; I don't want to have to relive it again."
It's okay." I squeaked, Aphelion's voice interrupting. "Why did you freeze? You could have easily taken her out the third round." He asked, already knowing how the midterm worked for combat class.
"I..." I paused and took a deep swallow, knowing exactly how Miles felt at that moment as the guilt washed over me. "I almost killed you, all of you."
"Don't be ridiculous," Samael laughed, the sound dry and without humor, "We are Gods, purebloods. We are all but indestructible."
"UNTIL I FUCKING RIP YOUR SOUL OUT OF YOU!" I yelled, unable to contain my sorrow, my worry camouflaging into anger as it spilled from me, "You...You're still a human. You still have a weakness. Even Superman, basically the God of DC, was powerless when it came to Kryptonite. OPEN YOUR FUCKING EYES, SAMAEL! Can't you see I am your personalized version of Kryptonite?"
"Kit-Kat, sweetheart, I need you to remain calm. I need the entire story if I'm going to do anything about Freyja." Luka stated, his voice smooth and calming, as he grabbed my hand and rubbed circular motions on my palm.
"I almost killed you, and then I almost died." I whispered, looking into his dark brown eyes, "And I couldn't even tell you goodbye. I couldn't tell you that I loved and that I forgive you. I couldn't tell you that I wanted to work past our issues and that I couldn't bare to live without you."
"I'm not going anywhere, love. I promise. I don't want you to feel like I'm pushing this to the back burner, but I really need to know what happened. The sooner we act, the less likely that Zeus and the other council members will take you into custody."
"Over my dead body; they aren't taking her anywhere," Miles growled, his words reflecting in Aphelion, Samael's, and Beckett's eyes.
"Nor would I," Luka stated calmly, trying to be the voice of reason, "I'd go to war for Katrina, but I'm hoping it won't come to that."
"Why did you think you were tearing our souls out?" Beckett asked, grabbing my other hand and bringing it to his lips, gently kissing each knuckle.
"I tried to borrow your powers again, knowing that the sooner I took Freyja out, the better, but when I called upon them, I was met with resistance. I pulled harder, and then I felt her. I felt my succubus, and she was preening with excitement, and that's when I became petrified. It's when the realization hit me that you had nothing else to give me except the one thing my demon craved."
"That's impossible," Aphelion whispered, "I didn't feel anything."
"It happened," I stated firmly, not wavering in my beliefs.
"And after you froze? What happened then?" Luka asked, coaching me into continuing.
"I...I don't really know. I became lost in my grief. It was overwhelming. I felt like I was drowning. The waves crashed into me, pulling me down as I tried to get back up. Miles yelling my name is what gave me the strength to break free. And that's when I noticed the wound. As soon as I noticed it, I felt my entire body start to freeze, It felt like I'd been caught in a blizzard, and the snow and wind were fighting against me. When my vision started to fade, I knew my end was near, as just as I was ready to greet death, I felt something so pure awake inside of me, and then Freyja was no longer hovering over me; instead, in her place was Miles."
