Chapter 12
Welcome back, I greeted Lois with an innocent smile on my face.
Oh thanks, beautiful Kharis, he answered.
It's been a while since somebody called me beautiful. I blushed and proceeded to inquire about the microwave.
"Do you know how to operate the microwave?"
I'm sorry Kharis but I have no business with the kitchen. I'm usually at the garage, my quarters, any of Fredrick's cars, meetings, and office, Lois answered.
I felt disappointed and felt a lump in my throat. Frederick was a billionaire and a fine young man. He deserved a sophisticated maid. One who was classy and well-versed with expensive kitchen equipment. Mind you, I was a great cook but using most of the tools here might ruin my cooking skills and pose me as a terrible chef.
Maybe, I'll call Ma Cleopatra later and talk about my inability to operate the microwave or the dishwasher . I felt frustrated, on my first day.
Thanks to Lois, I didn't feel so bored again. According to him, it was okay for Frederick to get back and see me relaxing or watching a movie in his living room.
Halfway into the movie, I fell asleep… guess what woke me up!!! It wasn't a call from my already angry parents or Lois. Frederick…!!!
His palm against my skin sent shivers all through my spine. His hands were soft and sensual. It seemed like he was the perfect gentleman who knew how to treat even his maid…
I stood up immediately and tried to comport myself.
"Sorry, what's your name again?"
Really!!! Did he just ask for my name? I am going to introduce myself for the millionth time. My name is Kharis, Sir... I answered in a calm voice.
Alright, welcome Kharis. I've met you severally, he said and came close to me. He put his hands in his pockets and took one more step forward. I swear my body was shaking. Could it be possible that he was transmitting current just from where he stood? Damn, he must be a god indeed. All these thoughts kept floating in my head.
I lifted my head and caught him looking at him. He leaned forward and took out something from my hair.
Ooops, I blushed faintly and muttered a soft thank you.
You are welcome, Miss. I'm hoping you wouldn't give me trouble. You seem very stubborn. Well, I have a pack of pastrami sandwiches in the kitchen. Can you microwave it?...
Frederick pov
As I got to my office, I sat on my comfy chair and smiled. I didn't even know when I started smiling at the thoughts going through my head. Was the woman I admired on several occasions working at my house, as a maid??
It was fun for me! I couldn't wait to get home and see what she was like. To know what living with her felt like.
She was petite, curvy, and looked very innocent and shy. I started thinking about the many possible ways I could torture her. From her neck down to her hips and foot, everything was perfect even in the flowy short dress she wore.
Kpom kpom... and that is how my beautiful thoughts were interrupted by a knock. Guess who walked into my office uninvited! Ivy Lincoln…
Hey baby, she said very excitedly. I was around your office environment and I figured I should come to see you. Then, we could talk about pre-wedding and post-wedding plans…
I kept staring at the woman sitting right opposite me. She kept blabbing about a wedding I have zero interest in.
So, I brought this pastrami sandwich just for you, she continued.
I muttered a thank you with a fake smile on my face.
Would you be home tomorrow? Ivy inquired...
I'm asking because I'd like to come to spend the night so we make better plans in regards to our wedding. I spoke to the decor team and they are ready to blow our minds.
I made a decision already for colors. How bout you check them out and tell me what you think, she said and tossed her phone in my direction.
With a bewildered look on my face, I picked up her phone and saw a color chart comprising pink, silver, and turquoise blue.
Hmmm, I thought. These colors were more feminine and I had to just agree because like I said, I had zero interest in this wedding.
And as for makeup, dress, and other accessories, I have just the perfect designer.
Ivy kept talking. I was really hoping she'd realize I had zero interest in her. I wasn't in love with her one bit.
She was about to say another thing when Jane, my secretary, interrupted her.
Good afternoon, sir, I'm really sorry to bother you,l but the creative department wants to have a meeting with you in regards to the business gala, Jane said.
Yea, that's true, I responded. I turned to ivy and said, "I'll have to go now, how about we continue this conversation later, have a lovely evening."
I was approaching the door when Ivy called me back. I looked at Jane and asked her to go on and give me a minute. To be honest, Ivy was bothering me…
Wouldn't you kiss your wife? She asked…
I tried to not let out a laugh. After 30 seconds of looking at her. I planted a kiss on her forehead and walked away.
After the meeting, I headed back to my office, picked up my phone and pastrami sandwich. I do not understand why the thought of going back to the maid made me happy. I guess I was way too expectant.
I got home and met her sleeping comfortably on the couch. She seemed to be at peace. She watched a movie and had eaten pancakes. It left a smile on my face knowing she felt at home.
I rubbed my palm against her skin to wake her up. I needed to eat. Her hands were soft and touching her made me feel good in a sort of way. She was beautiful.
She stood up immediately and tried to comport herself. Maybe she was scared of me.
Sorry what's your name again?, I asked her...
My name is Kharis, Sir... She answered in a calm voice.
Alright, welcome Kharis. I've met you severally, I continued my speech and came close to her. I put my hands in my pockets and took one more step forward. I swear my heart was racing. I have not looked at a woman the way I looked at Kharis that evening. She must have charmed me. All these thoughts kept floating in my head.
She lifted her head and caught me staring at her. I leaned forward and took out something from her hair.
She blushed faintly and muttered a soft thank you.
You are welcome Miss, I answered. I'm hoping you wouldn't give me trouble. You seem very stubborn. Well, I have a pack of pastrami sandwiches in the kitchen. Can you microwave it?...
She gave me an awkward look… you do know how to use a microwave right?
