Chapter 68
Ivy POV
I wanted to see the expression on Frederick's face when I mentioned anything related to the news about his girlfriend and driver.
I asked him if I could call Lois and he kept mute for almost three minutes. He was sad and it seemed as if his mid travelled so far.
Frederick", I yelled.
"It's about time you left my house and bedroom", he responded harshly.
I knew very well that he was affected and hurt. I needed to take it easy on him if I wanted all the efforts I put in to work out.
"We are getting married baby", I said, a smile forming at the corner of my lips.
"Very soon", I uttered again, I looked at his face without taking my eyes off for a second.
"Let's do this, together", I said again. I'm sure I sounded desperate but I did not care. Frederick was listening but he kept mute. I just prayed deep within me that he would accept to go on with the wedding. I didn't want him to back down. Not now, not ever. I needed him.
"No problem, let's go on with the wedding", he answered. He said these words as if he was under pressure. Well, he was under pressure.
I was so happy to hear him give in. He finally accepted. I couldn't wait to call Abby and give her the good news.
"Really"? I asked and began walking to where he sat. I was smiling so hard, it was so obvious that I was happy. I had hit the jackpot but hold up, what if he was just agreeing so I could stop pressuring him.
"You are not trying to lie or deceive me", I said and walked towards him.
"You can reschedule with Millicent. I'll meet up with her so she can fix my suit", he suggested. That was a great idea. At least, he was making efforts and bringing suggestions.
"Who's going to be your best man? Have you thought about that", I asked.
"Ivy, that is not what is important. What is important here is getting married to you. That can work with or without a best man right", I asked her.
Oh, I thought. I wasn't expecting him to flare up the way he did. If we were actually going to get married, we needed to talk about stuffs about the wedding. I wasn't definitely going to do plan it all alone. Or was he hoping to just show up at the wedding, mutter his vows, say "I do", kiss me and then walk out.
He was a billionaire and he had to have the most perfect wedding. There was no way I was going to let Frederick ruin my wedding. I was going to hire male models to show up to the wedding as his best man if I had to.
"Okay then. I'll call Millicent right away", I said and walked to the bed to pick up my phone.
I went downstairs and headed to the balcony to call Millicent and then Abby.
"Good afternoon Millicent", I said.
"Hello Miss Ivy. Is there any problem with your dress"?, She asked.
I giggled and said "oh no".
"How may I be of help to you today", she sounded so formal and professional but I let her do her thing.
"I know it's not too late to fix Frederick's suit".
"When is the wedding", she interrupted.
"Humm, the wedding is in two days", she said.
"Oh, Ivy", she said slowly.
"Please! Please! Please, Millicent. Do this for me. I know very well that you do not like working under pressure but you owe me this one", I said. My heart was almost breaking. I knew there were other amazing fashion designers here in New York that I could run to if Millicent seemed unavailable. But she was the number one and I wanted only ", the best at my wedding.
"Do you not want to be the fashion designer behind Frederick Hudson's wedding suit?"I asked her.
"What are you trying to do Ivy? You do know you need me more than I need you, she answered.
"Okay then. Send someone to come over for his measurement. I'll text you the address now", I said to her.
"Got it", she answered and dropped the call. I took a sigh of relief. Finally, things were working out as planned and one stumbling block (Frederick's suit), was out of the way.
My conscience has been haunting me for what I did to Kharis and Lois. But, there was nothing I could do about it. The deed had been done already.
I walked to the kitchen as I dialed Abby's number. I wanted to drink a glass of milk, but my throat felt dry.
"Hey Abby", I said as I gulped down the glass of juice.
"Hey bitch", she said. I rolled my eyes. She seemed too excited that afternoon.
"What's going on? You seem haoo", I said to her.
"Well, I am happy", she answered.
"Ivo is taking me out on a date this evening", she said. Her voice sounded as if she was smiling.
Ivo is Abby's high school crush. They have known themselves since college and hsd a thing for each other.
"Oh. And I was thinking you could sleep over so we talk".
"Is Frederick not back home yet", she asked.
"He is home. And guess what", I said excitedly
"What's that girlie" , she asked.
"Frederick has agreed to continue with the wedding", I said.
"No. No. You do not mean it", she said happily.
"You seeeee, the plan worked very well.
"Yeah. But can't we meet up this evening at Frederick's house", I asked curiously.
"Okay. I'd cancel with Ivo and let you know, she said to me.
"Okay baby girl", I said and dropped the call.
I was super hungry and I knew Frederick was as well. I wasn't a good cook but I did know how to make scrambled eggs. I headed first, to the television set to play a sing from another one of my favorite artists, sam smith.
The song was titled 'dancing with a stranger'. I remember when I modeled using this song vut was the first time I heard about it and since then, it has been my favorite. I swayed my hips, danced to the tunes and felt the beats. Music was my happy place and as I listened to it, I felt happy.
'I don't wanna be alone tonight (alone tonight)
It's pretty clear that I'm not over you (over you, over you)
I'm still thinking 'bout the things you do (things you do)
So I don't wanna be alone tonight, alone tonight, alone tonight
Can you light the fire? (light the fire, light the fire)
I need somebody who can take control (take control)
I know exactly what I need to do
'Cause I don't wanna be alone tonight, alone tonight, alone tonight
Look what you made me do, I'm with somebody new
Ooh, baby, baby, I'm dancing with a stranger
Look what you made me do, I'm with somebody new
Ooh, baby, baby, I'm dancing with a stranger
Dancing with a stranger
I wasn't even goin' out tonight (out tonight)
But, boy, I need to get you off of my mind (off of my mind)
I know exactly what I have to do
I don't wanna be alone tonight, alone tonight, alone tonight
Look what you made me do, I'm with somebody new
Ooh, baby, baby, I'm dancing with a stranger
Look what you made me do, I'm with somebody new
Ooh, baby, baby, I'm dancing with a stranger
Dancing with a stranger
Dancing with a stranger
Dancing, yeah, ooh
Look what you made me do (ooh), I'm with somebody new
Ooh, baby, baby, I'm dancing with a stranger
Look what you made me do, I'm with somebody new
Ooh, baby, baby, I'm dancing with a stranger
I'm dancing, I'm dancing (ooh)
I'm dancing, I'm dancing (dancing with a stranger)
I'm dancing, I'm dancing (dancing with a stranger)
I'm dancing, I'm dancing'.
