Chapter 79

Chapter 65

Frederick POV

He came close to me and smiled, stretching his hand for a handshake.

“Why the hell are you making a fool of yourself”? I asked him, giving him an angry look and walking to the stairs.

“Making a fool of myself”? he whispered, making sure to not let Ivy hear him as we passed the living room.

“What is with all the questions”, I paused and looked at him, then shook my head and continued climbing the stairs.

“I am only looking out for you, man. I need to know how she feels to get married to Frederick Hudson, the youngest billionaire. Chief executive officer of his own technology company. It is huge, man. Most ladies would give everything to walk down the aisle with you”, he exaggerated.

“You know that this is not real for me”, I said. We were already at my door. As I held the door knob, I shook my head and turned it, to open the door.

“How can you not even feel my pain”, I asked him.

“Why do you think I am here”? he asked.

“I left an important meeting just to be here with you”, he said.

I looked at him in such a way that made it look like I didn’t believe he would leave an important meeting just to come see me.

“What, man”? he asked, stretching his arms outwardly. He rolled his eyes and jumped into my bed.

I ignored him and went to the bathroom to wash my face. Truly, Kiel was the only person I could talk to. While I was inside the bathroom, I heard my phone ring.

“Dude, your phone is calling out to you”, Kiel said.

I don’t know what made me feel like Kharis was the one calling me. I dashed out of the bathroom to the bedroom.

“Dude, what the hell is wrong with you”, Kiel asked, already frightened by the way I ran out of the room.

I hissed and hit my fist on the wall when I realized it wasn’t Kharis that was calling. Guess who it was! It was my dad. I am sure he was calling to talk about the wedding, and that was the last thing I needed.

“Who is calling”? Kiel asked.

“My dad,'' I answered.

“That’s great. Pick up then”, he suggested.

First off, I didn’t invite him to convince me to pick my father’s call.

“Let’s go out for a drink”, I said, sipping the water I got earlier from the kitchen.

“That is a great idea. Besides, I need a drink to cool off”, he said.

He stood up from the bed and followed me outside the room. My father called again and as expected, I ignored it.

“I really think you should pick his call or else, you wouldn’t enjoy this night. He is going to keep calling and interfering”, Kiel said.

Well, that was true. It was best I picked his call so I get it off my chest. What was the worst he could say?

“Hello father”, I said in a manly voice.

“My boy, why does it seem like you are avoiding my calls. I know this because I have called for more than five times”, he said in his usual husky voice.

“I have been rather busy, you know, making wedding plans”, I lied just to get him off my case.

“Well, I love the sound of that. Huhh, isn’t tonight meant for the bachelorette’s party”?

“Yes. That Is one of the arrangements I am making, and as such, I haven’t been able to pick anyone’s call”, I explained.

“Okay then. Let me leave you alone to continue”, he said. And damn, I felt so good within me that he had finally decided to leave me alone.

“Frederick”, he said again. And I began to grumble and squeeze my face.

“I am so proud of you”, he said in a low voice.

“Thank you very much”, I said and ended the call.

“You know, Frederick, your dad tries a whole lot”, Kiel said.

“Yeah, I know and forcing me into a marriage that would last for the rest of my life is one great thing that he has done”, I mocked him.

“Anyways, hearing my dad talk to me like that is making you feel like you should also have one. We both know that he is not a great father. Come let’s go, man”, I said to him.

We walked down the stairs and met Ivy in the living room with a woman.

“Hey, Ivy, who is this beautiful pumpkin here”? Kiel said and walked up to the unknown woman in my house, planting a light kiss on her hand and looking up to her with love struck eyes.

Ivy and her friend were both blushing at Kiel’s gesture, I rolled my eyes at them and walked to a chair to sit on it. I wasn’t ready to stand, hurt my feet and watch Kiel flirt with Ivy’s friend.

“Okay… Frederick, Kiel, this is Abby”, Ivy muttered happily, introducing me and the playboy to her friend.

“It is so nice to meet you”. Kiel said.

“Hello, Frederick. I have heard so much about you from Ivy. I hope you are as amazing and loving as she says you are”, she said, smiling sheepishly.

I didn’t say a word to her, instead, I just smiled and turned to look at Ivy. I had never been nice to Ivy or maybe, if I had ever been, it was not intentional. I stood up and walked out of the room without saying a word to any of the ladies or even my best friend, who I thought was making a big fool out of himself. Kiel took my evacuating the room as a cue to evacuate as well. I went to his car parked outside the mansion and unlocked it so I could go in. Kiel, also, stepped into the car.

“Who is that fine girl”, he asked as he turned on the ignition.

“How is Maybelle?”, I asked him, looking out through the window and observing the environment.

“Don’t start with me”, he said and made a fist at me, playfully.

I looked at him and just rolled my eyes. It was a quiet ride till we got to the club.

“What is your plan for the night?”, Kiel asked.

“Man, I just want to have fun”, I muttered.

He pulled out his key from his car’s ignition and we highlighted from the car. Of course, the club was hammering with loud and banging music. Everyone seemed to be caught up in the whole fun. Girls and boys were dancing and the DJ kept firing a dope song. Since I was here already, I decided to enjoy the moment.

We walked to the bar stand, took our seats and ordered some shots.

“So, what has been going on with you? How is Maybelle doing? Haven’t heard about her in a long while”, I inquired.

“Oh, she is doing great. We spoke a few hours ago. She has a job here in New York and would be coming down here for it in a matter of days”, he said and took the shot into his mouth, squeezing his face as the drink passed through his throat.
