Chapter 36
KHARIS POV
No one had ever put in efforts to make me happy. And seeing Frederick do all the things he did the previous day only brought me closer to him the more. From the trip to the romantic scene, and the dinner, I knew that he loved me. I had unsupportive parents but Frederick was the one person who supported me. Why wouldn't I love him?
Have you ever had someone give you their all? I mean give you undivided intention. Someone, whose words match their actions and efforts? I had someone and it was my boss. I had no more doubts in regards to us. He asked me to be his girlfriend last night and I gladly said yes. It seemed like the best decision I ever made. To me, I was one step closer to happiness forevermore. Things were going so smooth and I wanted what we had to last.
"Good morning baby", a deep male voice interrupted my thoughts.
"Good morning", I answered him. Frederick laid beside me. It felt good to wake up to him by my side every morning. I have not had any nightmares or fear since I started spending more time with him.
"Did you sleep well?" he asked.
"Yea", I answered.
I stood up from the bed and walked to the window. I was dressed in the shirt he wore to dinner last night. My hair was scattered but I still looked pretty. I took a look at the environment and I couldn't help but appreciate it. There were lots of trees and fewer humans. I was fully aware that the penthouse was in a private area. Everywhere was quiet, neat, and alluring.
I could see the immaculately tall trees shading the pool. The trees seemed as if they were endless. It is almost like they reach the clouds. The environment appeared as it would seem in a landscape picture. The sights, the sounds, the smells were spectacular. The sky punched with clouds stretching like a dome. I could hear the birds hum a pleasant song. The sense of inner peace and harmony I felt while absorbing this moment was unmatched. The grasses seemed to have a party with the wind, dancing in their rhythm.
The lush greenery, the landscape, the warmth of the sunlight, everything seemed so coherent. The trees seemed like silhouettes in the glorious expanse.
"I want to live here forever", I said and turned to look at him.
"Hmmm", he answered and began walking towards where I stood. He held my waist and stood silent for a while.
"Is everything okay? Are you good? I asked with no hesitation in my voice. Still not a word from him. I became scared. Did I say something to trigger this silence and suspense!!
"How about we go out for breakfast", he said.
"Oh finally, you speak", I said, throwing my hands in the air and walking away from him.
"You ignored me for almost three minutes", I uttered.
"Were you keeping track?" he laughed and asked.
"I'm serious Fred, you were unusually quiet. Is everything okay"?
"I love you so much", he said, walking sluggishly to where I stood.
"I'm scared that at the end of the day, you'll no longer be mine", he said. I was totally confused.
"Have I given you any room to doubt"?
I loved that he was being honest with me. Vulnerable and soft men are hard to find especially when they have an amazing personality like Frederick's.
"No, you haven't given me any room to doubt", he said while holding my hands. He squeezed my hands and interlocked our fingers.
"Let us get ready and go have to breakfast. There's an amazing restaurant that Pa Theo recommended for our stay here", he said.
"Okay. I'll go shower first", I said to him smiling.
I got into the bathroom to begin my shower routine. I let the water ooze from the shower directly into my hair and down to my toes. As the water got to my face, I closed my eyes tight and used my right hand to wash my face.
The water was warm and having it pour on my body made me feel so good. I wasn't even done with bathing when I heard a knock on the bathroom door. I adjusted my body and took a peep outside to find Frederick standing with a towel tied around his waist.
"What's keeping you in there for a long time Mama", he asked.
I blushed on hearing him call me Mama. Damn, I was head over heels for this guy standing right in front of me in a clean white towel.
I raised my brows and muttered, "I'm almost done".
He smiled and still stood there waiting for me to get done. I got out almost immediately. Seeing him stand there staring at me made me feel so uncomfortable. While I walked past him, he smacked my ass and I saw him bite his lips by the time I turned back.
I shook my head and went to figure out what to wear from the clothes he had bought for me. I picked a black button shirt and denim bum shorts. I tied my hair in a ponytail and wore a scarf around my neck. I applied lip gloss on my lips and brushed my eyelashes with mascara. I used eyeliner on my eyelids and damn, I knew I was good to go. I decided to go downstairs and wait for Frederick to get done.
After a few minutes of waiting for Frederick to dress up. He walked majestically down the stairs with a cute gift bag in his hands.
"You look breathtaking. You have not only planned to steal my heart, but you also want to intoxicate me with your beauty", he also said slowly. He handed the bag to me. I looked at him with a smile on my face. He bought a smartphone for me.
"I need you to be able to reach me online, especially when I'm at the office. As my baby girl, you need an expensive phone".
I couldn't believe that he changed my phone.
"Frederick, thank you".
"It's time to leave", he said. He stretched his hands to help me get up from the couch.
A white range rover car was parked outside the penthouse waiting for us.
"Shall we?" he asked and held my hands. We got into the car and man, it was a long ride to the restaurant.
I got to see beautiful Ghanaian people, rich African culture, and what the streets look like. We got to the restaurant . It was so different from all the restaurants in New York. I'll explain later, but we noticed a paparazzi taking pictures of me and Fredrick at the restaurant…
I noticed that Frederick became unstable after the man had taken pictures of us.
"Is everything okay?", I asked him.
