Chapter 78
Chapter 63
Kiel POV
I was in a business webinar with some important realtors discussing the way forward for real estate companies in the United States of America.
"Real estate is cyclical and is affected by changes in the stock market. One specific category of real estate that has grown considerably in popularity among investors in recent years is Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs)", the Chief executive officer of a big estate in Chicago contributed.
"An expanding economy could lead to new business formation and the growth and expansion of existing businesses, all of which can also lead to increased demand for real estate", I shipped in.
Just as I was communicating, Frederick's call came in. I picked up my phone, stared at it as it rang, and contemplated on whether or not to pick up his call. Frederick still defended Kharis and it pissed me off to know that he still cared. Now, I know that none of that was my business but damn, it is my best friend we are talking about here!
"As Forbes has written, rising interest rates can signal a strong, growing economy, which often suggests that real estate is expected to continue to perform well. It is important to keep in mind, however, that the U.S. economy has enjoyed historically low-interest rates for years, and a sudden or significant spike in rates could slow available capital for commercial real estate development, which could undermine some real estate-based initiatives", another Chief executive officer added".
I felt proud to be in a room with intelligent people in the same field as me. We all had the same mind and something reasonable. Although Frederick was trying to distract me, I still paid attention.
I'm sure the overall speaker in the meeting noticed that I was constantly distracted and distant from the meeting. I had put my phone on silent and removed it from distraction. But whenever a call from Frederick came in, I had always turned to look at the screen.
I wondered how Frederick could be so desperate to talk to me.
Despite his numerous calls. I fixed my eyes on the screen in front of me while exchanging eye contact with some people in the room.
"Mr. Kiel, I and other persons in this room would appreciate it if you showed a little bit of respect by switching off your phone or going out to answer the call", the overall speaker said when she caught me peeping at my phone, again.
"I'm sorry", I said and put my phone in my pocket.
I shook when I felt a vibration in my pocket.
"Owww", I said and brought out the phone. I saw a message from Frederick pop on the screen.
'It's an emergency. Please call me ASAP'.
I swear I was scared and I had no idea why. I figured that Frederick was going through a lot at the moment and maybe, he was about to hurt himself.
I took my phone and walked out of the room. I called immediately because I was dying to know what the emergency was.
"Frederick! What is going on with you? You just made me leave an important meeting because of your text message", I said to him in a deep tone.
"I had no idea that you were in an important meeting", he said.
"What's going on", I asked him.
"Nothing much. I need someone to talk to, man", he said.
"This wedding is tomorrow and I just feel like I might be making the biggest mistake of my life. My instinct tells me so", he explained.
"Are you home"?I'll come to pick you up", I responded to him.
"Okay, man. I really appreciate this. I really do", I heard him say, and then, he took a deep breath.
I sighed and nodded my head. I began walking back to the conference room for the meeting.
"I'd like to thank every one of us who made it to this meeting. Thank you for your support and dedication over the past few months which has allowed us to move forward with this project ahead of time. I'm so happy for what this team has achieved", the overall speaker said while I pulled my chair to sit down.
"A special thanks to Mr. Kiel Francis for joining us late. He did quite miss a few points but I'm sure he would catch up soon", she said.
I cleared my throat and adjusted to my sit. Everyone stood up and began exchanging handshakes. I didn't even bother myself with greeting anyone. I only picked up my files and walked out of the conference room.
"Good afternoon Mr. Kiel. Please, may I have a word with you", a lady said in a loud voice as she ran towards me.
"I'm in a hurry now, but you can call me or maybe we can talk over coffee", I said impatiently to her, handing her my business card.
I got to the garage and entered my sports car then sped off.
I drove insanely to Frederick's mansion. My friend needed to vent to me and I needed to be available for that. Maybe, I could make him see reasons why Ivy might be good for him. It was still a long ride to his mansion and I needed to make a good impression by showing up early.
'I got commitment issues
But I'm tryna' fix that for you
If I can't afford that bag that you want
Then I would lick that for you, huh
I wanna be there for you
I knew that the day I saw you
Too many times we argued
Sorry for all the names I called you
She should've never called you a bitch
But I did, now you're pissed, tryna' cut my clothes (don't do that)
I Shoulda deleted that text, then I wouldn't have known that I fucked those hoes (alright)
Don't act like you care how I feel
Don't act like you care how I feel, you don't
Don't like how you act so spoilt, and you start to move mad when I tell you no
But I wanna' make it known (alright)
I gotta' take my time with love, so we gotta' take it slow ('tek time)
I'm not used to this type of stuff, but I can still make you moan
Anytime that you want, I can lay that (anytime)
You wait on the day that I say "I love you too", but I just can't say that (say that)
You want that bag, I'mma hit that trap
In a week I'll make that purchase (I'll buy that)
One touch makes her leg start to shake, make her legs start to shake like I make you nervous (oh yeah)
"Every time I rap 'bout hoes, I know that you hate those lyrics (I know)
I don't believe in love, but that doesn't mean I don't take you seriously (alright)'
How does it feel to be the soon Mrs. Ivy Clinton Frederick", I asked Ivy who was sitting comfortably in the living room.
Was I really happy that Kharis was so out of the picture? I was too welcoming to Ivy.
"I'm excited and so proud that I have him", she answered, smiling and throwing popcorn into her mouth.
"How many kids are you both looking to have",?I asked and sat on a chair.
"One, or maybe none", she answered.
I saw Frederick shrug and walk out of the living room. I followed him upstairs to his room.
"Hey man", he said and came close to me.
