Chapter 58

Kiel POV

I finished early from the office and drove over to where Frederick was hiding', 'nezzy irvoc suite'. Just as I was reversing the car to park properly outside the suite, I got a call from an unknown person. I became reluctant to pick up the call but when I figured it might be a client, I answered the call.

After a few minutes of silence, the person on the line finally spoke out.

"Hey, it's Maybelle".

I froze in my seat and didn't say anything for a while. I was too shocked, knowing she was the one.

"Hey, are you there", she said.

Yeah, I'm right here", my eyes were quivering as I answered her.

"Is this Mr. Kiel Francis", she asked in her sweet voice.

"Yes. It is me. How did you get my number? I asked her.

"We want to open a branch in Los Angeles and I was asked to call a real estate agency. I checked for the best real estate agencies in New York.

"Oh", I said.

"But you do know it's me! We had a conversation once in the night, in Canada and you gave me your number", I said.

"Oh yes, I remember you. How are you doing? It's been a while. Although it took you so long to reach out to me. It's fine though", she said.

"Can I call you back later, I'm getting ready for a meeting", I said.

"Of course. I'm hoping you do come around to Canada and call me frequently.

I unfastened my seatbelt and got out of the car. I called Frederick.

"Hey nigga, I'm downstairs in the reception. How long would it take for you and your woman to get her", Kiel asked jokingly?

"Please make yourself comfortable in the restaurant. I and Kharis would be with you shortly", Frederick stated.

I picked up my phone and stared at Maybelle's number.

II didn't know if it was a bad idea to call her back immediately or just wait for a while. It wasn't a crime to seem desperate for Maybelle at that point. I remembered that Tasha had an outstanding agreement with me.

Just as I was thinking about Maybelle, I saw Frederick walk down the stairs with a woman. She looked familiar. I could swear that I had met the woman before but, it was so hard to remember where and under what circumstances.

"Hey man", I said excitedly and hugged him.

"It's been a while man", Frederick answered.

"A while. We met a few days ago at the club"' I said, wondering if he drank alcohol already.

"Okay. This is Kharis. Kharis this is Kiel", I looked at Frederick and introduced myself to her with so much joy. I could tell that he was happy. I wish I felt the way he felt for Kharis, for Maybelle.

I shook hands with the girl and maintained eye contact with her.

"We have met somewhere before", I said

She nodded in agreement.

I smiled and turned to look at Frederick.

"She is Pretty, just like you said", I told him.

He smiled and signaled the waitress in the room.

"Please can we have a bottle of the finest wine", he said and turned to look at my face.

"Guess who just called, man"!, I said, smiling and leaking my lips.

"Pablo, your business associates, Tasha".

Frederick kept giving wrong guesses till I decided to stop and cut him shut.

"Maybelle called me immediately and I parked my car outside the suite", I said, grinning from ear to ear and I felt proud.

"Are u for real"?

"But how did she get your number?".

"She says she got a job here in New York and the job, requires my expertise.

"Okay", Frederick answered.

Ivy POV

I seemed so comfortable and relaxed in Frederick's house. I was listening and vibrating to the driver's license by Olivia Rodrigo.

I got my driver's license last week

Just like we always talked about

'Cause you were so excited for me

To finally drive up to your house.

But today I drove through the suburbs

Crying 'cause you weren't around

And you're probably with that blonde girl

Who always made me doubt

She's so much older than me

She's everything I'm insecure about

Yeah, today I drove through the suburbs

'Cause how could I ever love someone else?

And I know we weren't perfect but I've never felt this way for no one

And I just can't imagine how you could be so okay now that I'm gone

Guess you didn't mean what you wrote in that song about me

'Cause you said forever, now I drive alone past your street

And all my friends are tired

Of hearing how much I miss you, but

I kinda feel sorry for them

'Cause they'll never know you the way that I do, yeah

Today I drove through the suburbs

And pictured I was driving home to you

And I know we weren't perfect

But I've never felt this way for anyone, oh

And I just can't imagine how you could be so okay, now that I'm gone

I guess you didn't mean what you wrote in that song about me

'Cause you said forever, now I drive alone past your street

Red lights, stop signs

I still see your face in the white cars, front yards

Can't drive past the places we used to go to

'Cause I still fuckin' love you, babe (ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh)

Sidewalks we crossed

I still hear your voice in the traffic, we're laughing

Over all the noise

God, I'm so blue, know we're through

But I still fuckin' love you, babe (ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh)

I know we weren't perfect but I've never felt this way for no one

And I just can't imagine how you could be so okay, now that I'm gone

'Cause you didn't mean what you wrote in that song about me

'Cause you said forever, now I drive alone past your street

Yeah, you said forever, now I drive alone past your street'

I received a message from Abby when the song was almost coming to an end. The message read:

"It is done"...

I could feel my heartbeat triple. I was scared but I allowed myself to stay confident and hopeful till everything was alright.
