Chapter 39
KIEL POV
I have been away for a very long time, in Canada attending to some business issues. I am a realtor. Not as you would think, I was visiting Canada because I had deals with business partners and estates to secure.
I'm not a bad friend but I had not communicated with my friends in New York, even Frederick.
I lodged at The Fairmont Pacific Rim, in Columbia, Canada. From business meetings, early breakfast, late-night partying at the bar, and swimming, I had no time to check on my friends.
After the business meeting with Pablo that evening, I decided to call Frederick.
"Good night Pablo. I'll send a plan of the estate to you as soon as I get back inside".
"Good night Kiel, it was nice doing business with you".
I sat back on the chair and took one last stare at the environment. Ladies and men sat by the pool and the others, in the bar. Everyone seemed to be having fun and the one thing on my mind was Frederick. He was the only close friend I had. Being an orphan, there was no one to relate with but Frederick was right there, all through the way.
While I stared at my phone, a beautiful lady wearing a denim dress walked up to where I sat and stayed close to me. I love beautiful and confident women and the aura this one possessed reeked of the qualities I loved.
If flirting was a study course in college, I'd have an A In it any time of the day.
She was short, curvy with permed hair. The woman scented like lavender. Her scent was overpowering and connected me to her the moment she placed her ass on the chair. Although the lights at the bar were faintly dim, I could see that she had really brown eyes.
I signaled the waitress to come to my table. I raised my palm as a gesture for her to come closer so I whispered to her ears.
"Get a glass of the most delicious cocktail for the woman here".
"Okay sir", she answered and scurried away.
I tried to take my eyes off her. I gave myself credit for lodging in the hotel for almost two weeks without getting distracted by a woman. I had signed off the deal with Pablo. It was time for me to enjoy myself.
I raised my head to see the waitress holding a tray containing a glass of cocktail I ordered.
"Good evening ma", she greeted the beautiful lady.
"Enjoy this glass of freshly made cocktail".
"Thank you but I think you served the wrong person. I didn't order this", remarked the beautiful lady.
Her voice sounded like the birds singing early in the morning. She sounded polished and chic.
I looked at the waitress and she had a quizzical expression on her face.
"The gentleman beside you made the order and asked it be served to you".
She turned to look at me and I could see a faint smile form at the edge of her lips.
"I didn't know that. Thank you", she responded to the waitress.
She picked up the cocktail and took a sip. With an expression on her face that said "I love the drink", she took another sip.
"My name is Maybelle Jonathan", she said, stretching her hands to me.
I extended my hands to reciprocate the gesture and planted a kiss on her palm.
"My name is Kiel Francis, you are gorgeous, especially in that denim dress and perm hair".
She blushed!! Of course, I expected her to blush.
"So what are you doing here?" she asked me.
"Okay. First off, I'm a Realtor, based in New York. I'm here in Canada because I had to meet with some clients who are interested in what I do. I'll be leaving tomorrow morning, back to New York".
"Oh, it's such a shame that you are leaving tomorrow. I'm hosting a party tomorrow evening. Can you make it?. I'll love for you to be there. You could meet business partners too", she said and took another sip of the cocktail.
"I have work to attend to in New York. There's so much on my desk", I responded.
After what seemed like 30 seconds of silence, I said "but you could come to visit me in New York".
She nodded and signaled the waitress. I don't know the conversation they had but I think she wanted to order something.
"Excuse me", I said and stood up from the chair to a secluded area.
I dialed Frederick's number on my phone. I kept staring at my phone till he answered it.
"Hey brother", I exclaimed excitedly.
"Hey dude. Are you okay. Haven't heard from you in a while".
"I guess everyone is busy with their lives. What have you been up to bro", I asked impatiently.
"Nigga, I've been busy. You didn't show up to my business gala and that's fine"
"I apologize. Immediately after shopping for your gala wear, I boarded the next flight to Canada".
"Why? Everything okay?"
"Oh yes. Just some deal I needed to strike with a real estate agency here in Canada".
"I'll be coming back to New York tomorrow. I'm hoping we can chill".
"Sure thing. I got back from Ghana a few hours ago".
"Ghana, dude? What the hell are you doing in Ghana"
"It's a long story bro. But I'm going to tell you all about it when we see it".
"No pressure. How's Ivy though".
"She's probably fine. Haven't seen her since the gala night though. But, I'll see her soon".
"Okay bro. I have to hang up now. See you tomorrow Frede".
"Take care bro".
I dropped the call and went back to where Maybelle was.
"Hope I didn't take too much of your time", I asked, sounding very polite.
"It's fine. I kept myself busy when you stepped away. Hope everything is okay"
"Everything is okay dear. Do you lodge here or do you just want to come to have dinner or a good time".
"Yes, I was bored at home so I decided to come chill here. By the way, this is my favorite place to be when I'm not working or at home".
"That's lovely. What is your line of work?".
"I'm a tour guide for the travel agency, Expedia Group Inc, here in Canada".
"Really interesting". I said and sipped my glass of champagne.
"I'm really exhausted and want to head inside to rest. Would you like to come with me or you are fine here all by yourself", I ended the question by winking at her.
"You are really funny, Kiel".
"It's nice to know that you find me funny, Maybelle".
"Well, this is my business card. How about you give me a call whenever you can. Who knows, I might visit you in New York".
"Thank you", I extended my hands to collect the card.
She stood and walked up to me.
"Good night Mr. Kiel", she said and planted a kiss on my lips.
I blushed and threw my hands in the air out of excitement. It was always easy for me to get a woman. I had the looks, the charm, the money, and everything.
"Good night sir", I heard one of the waiters call out to me.
As I walked past him, I tipped him and ran up the stairs to my room. I decided to pack my bags for the trip tomorrow.
