Chapter 110
**LUCIANA'S POV**
I shivered at the way Duncan had said those words. I understand his panic and feelings, I could only feel unmoved if I was to be told something like that was going to happen to my parents, Lenato or Clara.
But if I was to hear about the people around me now dying, I was sure I would go out of control more than Duncan was going.
Sheba, after regaining the strength she looked like she had lost, stood up and faced Duncan, her eyes screaming in anger, her fists clenched into balls and her teeth showing how gritted it was from under the skin of her chin.
The way she was staring at Duncan made me think she forgot that he was the alpha or rather chose to ignore the fact that he was the Alpha and the glare she was giving him was not acceptable.
“Duncan, we both know I'm telling the truth, there is no other better option than that” Sheba said angrily, fuming like she had been treated unfairly earlier when Duncan held her neck to the wall.
I stood up from where I had sat with my butts glued to the ground ever since Duncan had pushed me. I walked to them, stopping right in front of Sheba.
“Is there something you aren't telling me? Why does it look like there is more to this mystic sword? Why does she have to be killed and not have to fight for her life and survive even if there is no high chance of her surviving” I said, staring into Sheba's eyes for answers, and when I got none, my gaze darted to Duncan, wondering if he could give me the answers I wanted but got none.
“It's not just called a mystic sword because it isn't one, it's called a mystic sword because it really is one and really does work as one”, Sheba started, and I turned my gaze back to her, wanting to take in every word she said.
“Anyone who gets stabbed by the mystic sword wouldn't be able to survive it but if you try to, if you at least try to prove you are strong and can get through it, you'd only be giving yourself more pain” she said, making me understand that there was no cure for it. Absolutely no cure.
“Those people that died with this sword in their belly were never buried, because they turned to ashes just like vampires” she said, and I gasped.
Vampires! That meant the sword would torment Arielle until she was weak and could take it no more. Then she would die, but all that would be left of her would be mere ashes. The reason why Sheba was talking about killing her and not letting the sword end her life instead.
A drop of tears escaped my eyes as I processed all that she had said.
“No being has survived the mystic sword, Luciana, Arielle might act so strong, but the pain will be unbearable for her” Sheba said, giving me comforting eyes. The only type of glare people get when their loved ones are dying.
“Duncan, you should know what's best for you. I'm sure you know the gravity of the matter needs to be solved right now. If the sword ends up killing her, you will never get to see her again, you will only have to see her ashes and visit them for the rest of your life while she still lingers in your heart. But if we do her the favor of making her die now. Then you will be able to place her in a tomb, leave her with care in a mausoleum and get to see her face whenever you want to. You know what you want, Duncan, the decision is just hard to make”, Sheba said, and I imagined Duncan wanting to choke her neck again.
How could she ask him to kill the only lady he had loved all this while? If I were actually Duncan, I would kill Sheba right now to stop her mouth from running.
“You are right, Sheba,” Duncan said, and I gasped softly. It felt as if someone beloved to my heart had just been ditched.
“I know what I want just like you said, and I would like you to stop making my head run with thoughts of what you have been saying! Keep shut, Sheba, don't try to make things worse than they already have”, Duncan said, and I nodded my head slightly in approval of what he was saying.
“Leave, Sheba” Duncan added, ordering with his Alpha tone.
“I have come here to check on Arielle. Why should I leave without getting to see her” she said, and entered the room, while I followed behind her with Duncan taking the top.
I got in, and I gasped at what I saw. My hands held my mouth as they attempted to get it covered, but it just couldn't.
I moved closer to Arielle as I left my mouth open, not because I wanted to but because it just wouldn't close.
Arielle was groaning in pain, moving unusually on the bed in pain as the blade stood in her stomach giving out something that looked like electricity as smoke was coming out of the blade vanishing into thin air.
Duncan rushed to Arielle's side as he held her hand, folding them into his.
I also went to her side as I attempted to touch the blade, but Duncan's hand held me back.
“Just a touch from a wolfless wolf like you could make it push you so hard until your back cracks the wall open” he said, and I could feel it wasn't a joke.
“She won't survive, Duncan, you have to kill her” Sheba said, reminding Duncan of what was at stake, but that made Duncan more furious.
“Why the hell are you talking like there isn't a fucking cure to this when there is??!” Duncan yelled and my face widened.
There is a cure???
