Chapter 88

**AXEL'S POV**

I sat in my study in the castle, my back leaning against my leather chair, and my gaze out at the city skyline.

A soft knock sounded at the door, and before I could respond, Vlad, my personal guard walked in, his imposing frame filling the doorway.

"I got what you requested for sir." He bowed and I gestured for him to come closer.

He did so, and handed me an envelope. "It contains every detail about Helena."

I nodded, my cold gaze piercing the envelope. I just knew I could count on Vlad.

"Do you mind foreshadowing its content, or would you rather read through it myself?." I asked in my usual cold voice and I could see him tremble slightly.

He hesitated, his eyes darting around the room, he couldn't look me in the face, the powers I commanded wouldn't let him.

"If I may, sir...the contents are quite...disturbing."

My expression remained unreadable, although my curiosity was heightened.

"Proceed" I said, my voice plain.

Vlad cleared his throat. "The girl, her memories...the ones you altered doesn't seem totally wiped, sir...it's either they're resurfacing, or they weren't wiped at all."

My gaze snapped to his, intrigue sparking through me.

How is that even possible?.

There must be an explanation to this.

"Continue," I urged, my tone strong and unwavering.

"She's been experiencing fragmented visions, sir. And there's something more disturbing," he said, his voice dropping to a whisper. "She seems somehow connected to some prophecy."

My fingers drummed against the desk, the only sign of my growing unease. "Prophecy?."

Vlad nodded. "Yes, sir. It appears there's some bond linking her with the supernatural although she's human."

"A human, linked with the supernatural?" I wondered how that's even possible. "we're worlds apart."

Right from the beginning of time, it's been unheard of, It won't start now that I'm prince.

"Prince Axel, it's been quite frequent...you were absent when it began." He replied, his eyes still avoiding mine.

Just how long was I gone? And why don't I seem to recall anything?

"The Moon Goddess, overseer of the Werewolves caused this." He replied.

What concern does the moon goddess have with Vampires?

My gaze intensified, boring into Vlad. There's nothing I hate as much as being totally clueless.

"How long was I...away? Rather asleep?" I asked, my voice measured.

Vlad hesitated, as though not sure whether to reveal. "Centuries sir, I'm not sure of the exact duration."

I sat back, exhaling a deep sigh of exasperation.

A lot really did happen in my absence.

"Centuries," I repeated, my voice devoid of emotions.

Vlad nodded, his eyes still avoiding mine.

"Yes sir, although the exact duration is unclear."

I clenched my fists in annoyance, Jade did this!!

I tried to flash my mind back to the events that caused me to fall Into deep slumber.

"Are the Demon race aware that I'm back?" I raised a brow, with different thoughts running through my mind. "And the witches, something tells me, they're trying to break away and get out of their doom.."

Vlad's face fell, as he looked away, his gesture hinted at a possible problem.

"Speak Vlad."

"Sir..." He trailed off.

"Almost every race is aware, we've all been waiting for your return" he said hesitantly. "and certainly, the Demons are aware."

Oh shit! Plans ruined..

Another attack is bound to happen. I should meet with Caspian and Duncan early enough, before it's too late.

My gaze darted back to Vlad and I could swear I saw fear in his gestures and every move.

A Vampire is never scared, or did that also change during my absence?.

"What are you hiding?"

I could see him panic, but at least I needed to know what's going on, being forewarned is always better than being clueless.

"T..the witches, they're back" he muttered. "In full force, and it's almost a thousand years...meaning that another ultimate war is brooding."

Vlad's words confirmed my thoughts.

"A thousand years," I repeated, my voice cold and dripping with malice.

They might have won against me the first time, although not against my allies, but this time, they don't even stand a chance.

"The great war.." Vlad started again, his hands trembling. "Cannot take place on its own accord this time..the sins must be present and the greatest Demon. Words reaching us are that the Witches are trying everything within their powers to get the sins out, and the greatest Demon."

"Interesting" I smirked, "the seven deadly sins will be present too..I've longed to be present and fight the sins, getting rid of them forever. Have the sacrificial wolf been found?"

He shook his head negatively. "I'm not certain yet. It's a thousand years already meaning there will be two special wolves, one purely Emerald and the Other, the Moon Emerald wolf."

I grinned, somehow the whole idea was intriguing me, probably because I'm back ready.

"How's the relationship with other races?" I asked him, hoping there wasn't another rift in my absence.

"We're cordial my lord, except for the witches and demons." He murmured.

"You can leave now..and please stop trembling at the slightest threat, or fear. It doesn't suit your physique" I said gesturing for him to leave the study and he bowed, turning around to leave.

"One more thing" I added, causing him to stop on his track, turning his gaze to me.

"Ready your army." I muttered. "The coming days, weeks, months and years isn't one to be toyed with, or taken for granted."

He nodded and walked out of the study.

I might just need to train him myself. I don't recall Vlad ever being a timid guy. Before I fell asleep, he was the strongest of them all, so what changed?

What weakened Vlad?

Fear is something so uncommon amongst Vampires, so why is he suddenly exhibiting that trait?.

That's a potential weakness, and weaknesses aren't allowed to dwell within any race belonging to the Supernatural realm, else it'll be exploited at one time or another, by rivals.

I rose from my chair, heading to the window.

If there's one thing I'm sure of, it's the fact that the war must eventually happen.

"Caspian" I mumbled, under my breath.

Is he really aware that I'm back now?

I ruffled my hair recalling everything that transpired from the beginning. How soft Caspian was, then the possession, rejection, fire and finally, the curse...

He must have missed me, Or maybe it was really my fault, leaving him all alone immediately afterwards...

And Duncan too, that cheesy brat. He never listens, I hope he's finally started following his instincts and left the dumb logic and stuff...

An image flashed through my memory, and a sharp gasp escaped my lips...

I was laying on the ground, with blood surrounding me, two other people who seemed lifeless were beside me, and there was a girl kneeling before me, in tears.

I snapped my eyes up and with a gasp, I muttered, "a revelation!!"
