Chapter 62

**DUNCAN'S POV**

“But,what if it falls through? Will you take responsibility?”

“It will not fall through.” I said, confidence brimming in my words.

“How can you be so assured? A lot of businessmen always make that mistake of overestimating themselves which in turn makes them vulnerable and lose a lot. I would like proof.”

“I am not like other businessmen, the difference between me and those men is the fact that they overestimate themselves, I do not. I make sure and calculate all possible outcomes and solutions to any problems that arise. I do not make rash decisions.”

“Is that so?” He raised his brows.

“Yes,it is. And for proof, since you want it,I shall give you proof.”

“I'd like to see that.”

“It should be starting right about now.” I muttered to myself, checking my watch and switching on the Samsung television in my office, immediately going to the channel I needed.

“Welcome back from the ten minute break.” The announcer said.

Adrian folded his arms and watched. “After lots of debate and internal strife and tension, it has been decided that the Sringer Area will be having a redevelopment as the area needs a lot of reconstruction for the benefit of the populace and safety of the citizens….” I switched it off and turned to him,a smirk on my lips.

He returned the smirk with a smile, and stood, walking towards me and stretching his hand out

“I look forward to working with you,Mr Duncan.”

“As do I.”

He gave a bow as he left my office and I smiled in satisfaction.

I hit the intercom button. “Sara, come in.”

A few moments later,a lady in a black gown of average height walked in. Her blonde hair was gently placed in a messy bun. She approached me with a smile, her red lipstick very visible as she smiled.

“You called for me boss?”

“Yes.. I need to go to the site where our new hotel is being built. I want you to cancel any schedule I have today. I'm closing from work.”

“Okay sir,I will do that.”

“Good, you can also get off work as well.”

Her eyes sparkled at my words.

“Thank you so much, sir! I'll do my best to enjoy my break.”

I narrowed my eyes at her. “I do not care what you will use the break for.”

“Of course sir.” She bowed and left.

I also left my office, heading to the car that was waiting for me.”

Lucan opened the door for me and settled in as the driver began driving.

“Alpha..” he called out.

“Yes?”

“I am honestly delighted that I didn't agree to take the bet with you.”

“A sacred wolf,how disgraceful.”

He flinched.but ended up smiling. “I am a sacred wolf when it.comes to you,Alpha. Forgive my insolence.”

“Don't bother.” I dismissed, a low chuckle erupting from my throat.

The humor I shared with Lucan was weird and I could tell that the driver was shaking on his seat.

Poor guy,he wasn't used to my aura.
……
We arrived at the site where I would be launching my hotel. It was still a barren place, with almost no visible improvement since I was last there but as much as I didn't want to admit it,I knew that they were progressing.

I had no choice but to be patient. A rich man indulges himself in patience after all.

A man in ragged looking clothing came running to me,a helmet on his head. He was a burly man and had a mustache.

“Mr Duncan!” He yelled as he ran.

I closed my eyes. Why did he yell my name?

“Alfredo.” I called.

He gave a throaty laugh as I called his name delicately. We shared the same name so I couldn't just call him anyhow as it was my name as well.

“How have you been,Duncan?” He asked, slapping my back in greeting.

Lucan shrieked at his gesture and more at my reaction. There was none.

Alfredo was of the dragon race and an architect, a very skilled and expensive architect. He was also my friend from university, probably the only friend I was still in contact with after my brother's death.

“If you could refrain from doing that, you're making me dirty.” I said, clenching my fists.

“Sure,boss.”

I rolled my eyes gently. “How is the progress?”

“We're actually moving quite fast but there has been some tension among the workers.”

“What is it?”

He scratched his head nervously. “Well, they want a raise. If they decide to leave,it will take longer than expected for construction to be completed.”

“Well, what do I need to do?” I want it completed in eight months.”

“As do I, I want to take a break and relax, not doing anything for a year.”

I raised my brows. “Is that possible for you?”

Dragons, although they were strong, were extremely vain creatures. They loved material things too much so they would hoard gold and expensive things. It was in their nature.

“What do you take me for? I already have enough money that I won't be affected if I don't work for a year.”

“Whatever, just settle this issue with the workers, come to a compromise or something.” I said, looking around.

“You think it's that easy to handle people…”

I was no longer listening to him when I saw someone.

“Jericho?”

I left Alfredo to confirm but just like the wind,he had vanished from my sight. I walked around the area he was in,but could find no trace of him,not even a scent.

“Maybe I imagined it.”

I turned and left for the car immediately, not answering Alfredo when he called me.

I sat in my car and tilted my head in thought, I was sure I had seen him.

My phone rang, and it was Arielle calling.

“Baby..” she called.

“Yea,love. What do you need?”

“I need you to get me a dress for keira and little Luciana so they can go to the party with us.”

I sighed.

Luciana had begun living with us after the incident since she had nowhere to go and both Arielle and Keira had grown attached to her.

“Do they need to go? They are still kids anyway.”

She gasped. “So,are you suggesting we leave your niece and Luciana at home when they could have a chance to meet handsome boys?”

I heard squealing in the background.

“I'm the cool person,Duncan. Help me out, please. I need to protect my image. Teenagers can be so scary in all honesty.”

I had no idea what she meant. “I'll get them for you.”

“Thanks babe.”

“You're welc….” She cut the call.

I rubbed my eyebrows. “Make a stop at the mall. I have been tasked with an important job.”

I sighed as I spoke. “Women.”

We arrived at the mall and with much reluctance, I got out of the car and walked inside.

I entered and saw a lot of people, women to be precise but just then, I saw him again.

“Jericho..”

His Rejected Luna
