Chapter 40
**DUNCAN'S POV**
“You will come, right?” Jeremy asked as soon as the girl walked out.
I turned to him with a glare and he raised his hands in surrender. Even though he was a supreme alpha just like myself,I intimidated him sometimes, or he pretended to let me intimidate him.
“Why are you here?” I asked Jeremy but he refused to answer and instead settled his lips into a pout. What kind of alpha does that?
Caspian cleared his throat so I could give him my attention. He pointed to the door lazily and I furrowed my brows in confusion. What the heck did this strange guy mean?
“I'm leaving..” he stated simply and turned.
Eddard and Lincoln followed him until only Sheba, Jeremy and I were left in the room.
I proceeded to glaring at Jeremy. I remembered the way his hands held her and the way his eyes gleamed with need for her. I was irritated, with Jeremy and with myself. The way she blushed for him made my wolf twitch in agony.
“Why did you actually come here?” I questioned, my eyes changing colours.
Jeremy tilted his head to the side and raised his brows. “What's going on with you?” He asked.
I did my best to control the rage that was coming up from inside me. “Nothing, state your business.”
He rolled his eyes and turned to Sheba. “What's up with the girl?”
“What do you mean?” Sheba questioned.
“Why do I feel attracted to her for no reason, almost like she’s my mate?” He asked again. Facing back, he spoke to Damon who was still on his knees. “Leave.”
I nodded and gave my approval. Damon stood with a grunt and left quietly, clenching his fists.
“Who is she?” He asked again.
Sheba shrugged her shoulders and pouted. “Maybe there's nothing wrong with her but you're just too perverted to understand that.”
Jeremy's face contorted in mock offense. “Perverted? You wound me Sheba.”
She raised a brow and her lips settled into a scowl.
Jeremy raised his hands in the air, feigning hurt. “C'mon, everybody knows that among the four alphas,I am the only one who is still approachable.”
“More like,sadistic.” She scoffed.
Jeremy shrieked and Sheba smirked in victory.
“Jeremy, focus!” I growled,my anger getting the better of me. “Why did you come here?”
“Honestly, I do not remember anymore, the little candy has taken away all my attention.”
Little candy? I scoffed. How dare he?
I remembered the way Luciana's face lit up when she blushed, the way her eyes sparkled during her little banter with him. I recalled the way my wolf twitched in agony when he said his scrawny hands on her. I let out a frustrated groan. Why did I care? I didn't have time for this.
“If you cannot remember, then get out! Your presence is unnerving.”
“Sheesh! Calm down. Jade was found in one of my museums. He was searching for something and since you just fought with him,I figured you'd have an idea.”
My anger faltered,replaced with intrigue.
“How did you know?” I asked, narrowing my eyes at him.
“I'm an alpha who is interested in magic,I hear things.”
“Hear things?” I pressed, skepticism etched on my face.
Jeremy shrugged. “I have my sources, but that's not the issue now, is it?”
I shrugged gently.
“Why was he there? What did you keep there?” Sheba inquired.
He brought out something from his pocket. “I think it was this,”
An object was wrapped neatly in a cloth.
“What is that?” I asked, annoyed that he would think I knew what it was when I hadn't even seen it,but Sheba gasped as soon as she saw it.
“The last elf gem… how did you find this? Where did you get this from?” Her eyes sparkled with admiration as she stared at the object wrapped in cloth.
I had no idea what it was so I couldn't share in her intrigue.
“Why did they want whatever is in there?”
“Well,I cannot be sure. An elf's gem can serve many purposes and it is hard to find out their specific goal.”
“What?” I was confused and lost as I listened to him blabber.
“I have a feeling that Luciana is connected to all this.” He suddenly said.
“Jade kidnapped her yesterday.” Sheba blurted out.
I snapped my head to her and she covered her mouth with her hands. She wasn't usually a chatterbox but the item in Jeremy's hands made her lose focus.
“What?!”
She gave a weird smile.
Jeremy laughed. “I knew it,there is someone special about that girl.”
I glared at him,but he took no notice of it.
“Do you think she is also connected to the prophecy?”
“What prophecy? How the hell do you know all these things?” I asked, frustrated and simply tired, the tension was getting to me.
“He cast a spell and when I translated it, I could hear him talking about a prophecy or something like that.” He paused and his serious face was replaced with a comical expression. “It is a nice feeling.”
“What?”
“You have finally acknowledged that I am smarter than you. Sure, you may have the strength but I have the brains. I wonder if she likes smart guys.” he muttered to himself but was loud enough for everyone to hear.
“You do not seem surprised by my mentioning any prophecy,do you perhaps already know it?” He pointed out
“I have heard of the prophecy but I do not know anything about it.” I confessed, turning to Sheba. Although she had always mentioned the prophecy, she had never told what it entold. Why I was connecting to it,and why she assumed Luciana to be my mate.
She averted her gaze from me and stared at the floor instead.
“Well,I'll be on my way,I have some business to attend to.” Jeremy informed, turning to leave. He stopped in his tracks and turned to me.
“Duncan,do you…There was something I noticed and I would like to clear the air.”
“What is it?” I asked urgently, hoping he would leave quickly.
“Do you feel attracted to Luciana, perhaps?”
