Chapter 13
*Heartbreak*. It's so ironic that I was running away because of heartbreak.
I remembered Richard's heartbreak story. He had a crush in grade 5, indeed, he is already flirtatious at such a young age. The girl didn't like him since he wore glasses. Richard didn't go to school for months and even transferred to another school.
This is how I deal with heartbreak. I left the house so early that the chicken in our neighbor's yard and I both awoke at the same time. I left the house without him knowing. The importance is he know yesterday and even last week that I will go out. I don’t want to face him and I don’t want to see his face.
His looking at me, imagining his girl.
*
"I...I miss you, love."
"I'm sorry...my wife...I just remembered her."*
Damn, those words were the most painful for me. It was the sweetest words for her, yet it hurt me to hear them.
I was on my way to Richard's residence. I went to him first since, of all the boys, he was the one who loved getting up so early. He enjoys school as well, and it was both overwhelming and heartbreaking that they had to go with my strand because they wanted to spend more time with me.
I haven't brushed my teeth, taken a bath, or even changed my clothing. I awoke and literally left that place with nothing but a phone and a wallet. I don't need to worry about my outfit because I have a spare clothes and dresses in the boys’ closet.
I don’t know what I did to have them love and care for me so much. They did not go rebel, but they did not follow their parents' decision to choose the strand that linked with their future job or to go to states to study.
I step out of the taxi, the surrounds are already clear, and the sun is beginning to rise. I arrived at Richard's home on Martini Street. The guard opened the big gate, and automatically smile when he saw me there infront of him.
"Good day, Ma'am."Sir Richard is in the garden," he continued, as if he knew why I was there. Of course, he'd be surprised if I was looking for him.
I gave a nice smile. "Much thanks!" I'm going inside now! ” I noticed Richard's mother walking outside with a little table and a cup of coffee.
Her eyes widened as she saw me. “Darling! You've arrived so early! Do you have a problem? ”
I smiled shyly. I went to see her. I kissed her on the cheeks. “I wake up so early, Tita so I went here straight.”
“Do you want milk? I can ask our maid. Let’s go first in the garden. My son is there.”
I followed her. Tita looks hot in her maxi dress. She appears to be as young and lovely as ever.
"Did Richard hand you the invitation? It's my birthday party, sweetie."
"Indeed, Tita. He gave it to me on Thursday. Tita, I'm not sure what things I'll give you. "You already have everything," I remarked warmly, and she laughed softly in response.
“I’m fine with your presence and the boys as well. Everyone should be present. I'm happy that you're all the reason my son is happy."
We entered the garden behind their house. Richard was watering the plants, while his father was reading the newspaper at the table. They cast a peek our way. Richard did not even surprised that I was here, unnoticed.
Tito smiled and waved his hand to me. He said, "A beautiful sunflower has come to see me."
"She's not here because of you, Dad; don't get your hopes up," Richard smirked. Tita softly laugh.
"Good morning, Tito," I said quietly as I approached him for a hug.
Tito let out a sigh. "You grow up so fast. Don't have a boyfriend yet, ha? My son will definitely miss his one and only girl bestfriend," Tito added. I smirked as well.
"I'm excited about it, though, because I want him to see him cry like a baby!" I teased them. Richard rolled his eyes, which his father saw and grinned at.
"And I really liked that idea!" Tita agreed. She approached the table and placed the coffee on it. She then wrapped her arms around me. "I've missed my little soft kid," Tita remarked, and Richard's ear reddened.
"Girl are indeed emotional," Richard exclaimed loudly.
"You didn't even wash your face," Richard pointed out to me, smirking. I stick out my tongue.
I crossed my arm. “"You didn't even brush your teeth," I snapped back.
“I will. Don’t rush” He said, chuckling. Richard turned his gaze to his parents.
"Dad and Mom. We'll proceed upstairs. "Enjoy your coffee break," he added quietly. Richard softly holds my arm. I said my goodbyes, and waved at them.
"You get up so early."That's new," Richard muttered. I pouted and put my right arm around his waist, while he put his arms around my shoulder.
"I hate Kairus," I grumbled. He laughed.
"We've always despised him. What is the difference now? ”
“Nothing.” I replied. “I hate him even more, today and tomorrows.”
He laughed. "You already have the answer," he added, making me frown.
“What’s answer?” I asked. “I didn’t even asked a question.”
"You keep asking why Easton and Gretta are always arguing. You've found your match."
“It’s different to Gretta’s case! Easton is indeed annoying! Anyway, let’s stop talking about him. I’m here to sleep.”
Richard opened his room door. He turned off the lights as we passed the switch button.
“I didn’t sleep yesterday.” I informed, merely, complaining to him. I removed my slippers, and dive to his bed.
Richard removed his eyeglass. He dragged his swivel chair and place it near me.
I took him long years to move on even it’s only infatuation.
“Why? Is your heart aching in pain? He asked, worriedly. I looked at him seriously. Yes, it sting painfully but I won’t admit it to him. This is just nothing.
“No.” I lied. It just a white lie, Aim. No need to feel guilty.
"I'm going to bed. Okay? ”I added. He nodded so calmly. I saw him stood up, and my attention went back to his pillows. I hugged his pillow and closed my eyes. I'm going to miss him and all the boys once they've settled down and started their own families. I’m not going to barge in unless their girlfriend won’t see me as a threat.
I closed my eyes, but after a few seconds, I heard a strum on the guitar. When I heard the familiar melody, I smiled and feel relax.
***“La…la…lovely angel.” He humed.***
It was written by him and the boys. The four boys own their stanza, and Richard was polishing everything and giving tones. They wrote a wonderful song for me, and they sang it every day while I was in the hospital, half and deadly unconscious.
Even though they played and sang it all the time, listening to it felt like the first time for me, even though I was haring it all the time. The lyrics were very beautiful, and their voices melded so nicely.
***I stared the window
You’re walking
With your strange hair….strange eyes
Everyone is head over heels
*
That’s the time I was transferred in St. Lucia’s Academy here in Ignacio. I was walking nervously, made worse by the fact that the students in their different classrooms were staring at me, shouting and screaming.
***It was an angel
An angel…a la…la……la…lovely angel, my darling angel***
Next, it was Dave.
***I look at you in the window
I was caught by an angel
A la…la…lovely angel
With her strange hair, beautiful eyes…
It was a beautiful darling…a la..la..lovely sexy angel***
It was Noel turn.
***I peek out the window
It was indeed a beautiful angel
Her hand trembles, my heart rejoice
It must be cute to annoy that beauty
Indeed an angel
It was an angel a…Da…da…darling angel, a beautiful angel*
*****
**One step closer, everyone scream
(It is a beautiful angel, a darling beautiful sexy angel)**
***
And, lastly to Easton lines.
***Window away, all eyes on your way
A strange girl, a beautiful angel
Sweet lips, sweet voice, sweet innocent eyes
It was a sweet angel full of life
(It is a beautiful angel, a darling beautiful sexy sweet angel)***
They sang together all the last stanza.
***It’s an angel
Standing, and holding
Spreading its wings
And carry us to life
**
***Angel…our dear angel…my darling angel…my sexy angel…my beautiful angel…my sweet angel…don’t leave us******
The last line in a weak and soft whispered.
***Our angel, please don’t be an angel yet….***
I waited the song to finish but I was amaze that Richard continue to sing another one, and so on.
His voice is so warm and gentle that made me sleep. My heart feels the warm and gentleness. I’m so lucky to have them because I didn’t how will I face and fight every pain.
