Chapter 31
I've been watching for him to leave. He was in front of Clarence. I saw how they were casually talking to each other.
They know each other?
They were smiling when they spoke, so perhaps yes. I think it took them long minutes to leave. Until I saw the girl softly pressing his hand to his waist as she moved his hand in that direction motioning to leave.
I waited impatiently for them to leave.
I chuckled. Excited are we?
I watched Kairus' back. My lips parted, and I hold my heart. I stopped as the past sailed me for the seconds. I I used to be a teenager when I first started watching him, and now that I'm an adult, I still watching him frome afar.
Kairus said his goodbye. The girl chuckled as they turned around and starting to leave. I saw him moved his head, and I quickly went back to check in the mirror before he could see me there.
He didn't see me right?
I looked myself in the mirror. I grow up well, and turn into lady that older men and younger men want to have. Our life has changed, and we even my brother's life changed as well.
I went back to check, and they left which is good. I finally breathed and I exhaled a sigh out of relief. I don't know how to stand near him. I can't stand near him, and I won't risk any second to be with him around.
I just hate him. I don't like him. We parted ways in the ugliest way. He have to hurt my brother, and I was the one who caught it deeply.
I then returned to our table. The atmosphere changed coldly, and even I was wearing a jacket and too much cloth, still I feel the little warmer of coldness.
I attempted a smile. I should at least treat myself to some delicious food and a decent conversation with someone because it had been a long day for me and was also exhausting.
When he turned to face me, I smiled. The variety of meals in front of us caught my attention. It feeds my energy back.
I yelled excitedly, "Let's eat."
Food does, in fact, cheer the heart and soul.
The dinner went smoothly. Clarence knows how to handle the topics within us. We talk about his journey around the world, and his little friendship with my brother.
We started in awkward smiled and we ended with a genuine smile in our lips.
I waved my goodbye.
I like how being gentleman he is without creeping me out. We're a little tipsy, but I appreciate how decent he is. He didn't even try to push or volunteer to walk me to my condo. He just wants to watch me going inside my condo.
I fell asleep immediately. I was distracted when my phone suddenly rang. My eyes stopped to the clocked.
My eyes widen! It's already Eleven in the morning! I'm already four hours late!
I quickly checked my phone. I was not surprised to see many missed calls from him and messages as well. I scrolled up while shaking my messy hair.
"Good Morning, I came in the coffee shop early since I woke up early. I'm excited to see you and be with Hope."
"Hi, are you there? Do you want me to go to your condo? What's the room number?"
"Hi, you're two hours late but still I'll be waiting."
"Hi, I'm still here and I won't leave.. I'll wait for you."
I ran to the restroom quickly.. I didn't even bother to take a shower. I just brush my teeth and wash my face with soap. I didn't even add tint or anything for my eyes to give light ane color. I'm not bothered because we are late already.
I wore high-waist jeans and a sleeveless in my upper, and off to go.
He simply picked this coffee shop here in the Lucia. He was sitting with two cups on his table when I caught him in the glass door. He was dressed in trousers and an oversized old denim jacket. When I was already close to his table, I cleared my throat. Upon seeing me, his eyes grew big, and he grinned broadly.
The first he asked already drained me out.
"Hi, I thought you were tired and bored of meeting me." He said.
I groan and take a seat across from him. He always drains me with his words, which is one thing I detest about him.
I smiled, forcefully. " I was so tired yesterday, and I wake up so late. I'm sorry.... "
He chuckled, lightly." It's fine, atleast you never forget us. We were Hope's life."
I nodded. I saw his thin hand moved infront of me. I wanted to drink the coffee but I need to be careful as well.
"Let's begin," He whispered, peacefully. I nodded and didn't drink the coffee that he gave, and instead I saw a good carenderia.
"How's your trip by the way?" I asked. He smiled. He put his hands to his jaw, thinking. "Hmm... it was good and wonderful. You should come to me next time!"
I forced a smile. "I'll check but my schedule is a bit hectic."
"Okay. Just tell me when you have a free time then I will tour you around. You love to go to sky diving right?"
My smile faded away and I slowly shook my head. "I'm not hundred percent Hope, Hayes." I whispered that made him stopped. "I have fears on heights and I'm not that brave to take a risk."
I looked at him in the eyes, and he snapped back. "Oh, I thought it was just the same. My fault." He chuckled sheepishly. "Should we order? What do you what?" He added, changing to topic.
Just water, I said quietly. He gave me a confused expression. I played the spoon while sighing. "I want to eat something heavy today," My eyes darted to his untouched cofre. I met his gaze. "but let's continue your coffee first," I added which he agree.
Another order came, and we were so awkward to each other. I'm losing the hype to ask about anything. I'm so tired that . I will fall asleep as soon as I lay down.
"You're talking about busy schedule. You will leave Philippines again?" Hayes asked.
"I'll be busy since we were working a new series. We haven't announced it yet."
It was a forced conversation but since I respected Hope's boyfriend, I stayed even I wanted to lay all day. I respect him and that's why I'm answering his question and trying to give back the energy but even so I couldn't give the same intensity.
I feel the nature's calling. I don't have to look to Hayes since I caught him staring at me, admiring.
"You look more beautiful than hope-
I cut him off, "I want to go for restroom."
"Huh-aw okay." He said, and I stood up. I froze when I saw a familiar man in the counter.
It was Kairus again!
He turned around after pulling the money. Our eyes met. I averted my gaze, and quickly went to the restroom.
Why would we always bump to each other?
I checked myself in the mirror. I stopped. Maybe he didn't recognize me right? I was wearing a cap and I'm glad that I've brought my jacket.
Did he see me? Ofcourse, he stopped as well!
I think I don't need to argue myself because when I left the restroom, someone is standing and leaning in the wall!
Long time no see, he began. He moved in my direction, and his shadowy, dark eyes captured my attention.
How come he's here? Is he talking me? Did he come here just to say that?
Ridiculous!
I averted my gaze. I pledged, among other things, not to stare into his eyes again. Never!
Long time no see, too, I remarked sarcastically. I started walking. I didn't wish to have a conversation with him. I don't want to talk to him either.
He said, "You grew up," which prevented me from moving forward. Why is he asking that?
"Time passes ofcourse, I will not stay a teenager-
He cut me off, "You were with Clarence yesterday and another guy today." I glanced at him, bloodshot and furious.
What makes him say that? Why would he act in such a manner? Why would he care if I'm with difficulty guys?
I shook my head. This is useless and pointless. and shrugged my shoulder. I looked at hin, coldly. "It's none of your fucking business."
And, I walked away.
