Chapter 17
We had been staring at each other for far too long. Every time I breathe, my heart aches, and glancing at him causes the anguish to double. Seeing him makes my heart both happy and saddened.
As I felt drowsy, I slowly closed my eyes. I'd want to ask about Chris and his current whereabouts. I only hope they didn't kill him. I don't want to taint the hands of all my loved ones. I'd rather see that fucking Chris in jail than my loved ones locked up because of that demon.
“Are you tired?” He asked softly. I simply nodded.
“Can you stay awake? Wait for your brother? I’m scared that you won’t wake up, fast.”
I simply hope he isn't aware of my illness. There are already much too many people who are aware of it, and it is far too large and heavy to bear the burden and obligation because, to be honest, I don't want anyone to cry because of me.
“Don’t wake her up.” Kelsey warned.
"I want her to sleep, but...but she sleeps a lot. Andrew would like to see her again."
Kelsey chuckled. “Andrew o you?”
There’s a complete silence.
"Well, you have to leave since my husband is coming. Fact check, he’s already on his way.”
“Tsk, he’s too happy, he won’t mind seeing me here.”
“Hardheaded as always. If you don’t want, you may take a shower, change your clothes, get a haircut, and your stench will stink! Ew! Gross!
I wanted to laugh, but I restrained myself. I simply closed my eyes and felt the anguish in my chest. I couldn't wait till the evening to cry.
“Do I smell bad?” He asked.
"Yes, you should leave and return later. Please bring us fruits as well! I'll just go outside because Andrew is calling."
He stood up. I expected him to leave, but what he did surprised me. I can feel his soft lip on my forehead.
"Sleep well, and I hope to see you again after I return."
As soon as I heard the door close, he was gone. I became addicted to sleep after a few minutes of silence.
Sleeping allows me to forget about my suffering. I wanted to tell my brother, family, and best friends, but I knew they wouldn't be happy.
I feel asleep too profoundly, and I wake up when I smell the loveliest perfume scent. I also heard some guitar strumming.
I slowly opened my eyes.
A la…la…lovely angel
With her strange hair, beautiful eyes…
It was a beautiful darling…a la..la..lovely sexy angel
When I opened my eyes, the boys smiled. They hastily hung the instrument against the wall. They brushed their hair and cleared their throat.
"Ahem...ahem..." Easton mumbled, pretending to cough. “Who got a new haircut, today?”
“It’s a beautiful day and a handsome boys.” Dave said, and chuckled.
I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply. "It smells wonderful. It's fantastic. It's lavender, your favorite," Easton said.
They ear it even though they dislike the scent. I looked behind me and didn't realize I had a lot of visitors. My brother is there hugging his wife from behind, Thea smiled and fixed her eyeglass, and Gretta waved her hand, and …and Kairus…
My gaze was drawn to him. I moved my gaze about, and everyone had a distinctive and new look, but my gaze was always drawn to Kairus.
He looks great with his new haircut, shaved head, and new shirt and jeans. My eyes darted to the table and I saw a lot of fruits in the basket and three’s a flower.
"Ahem...we also make time with this haircut," someone cleared his throat in front of me, and I returned my attention to them. I take a big breath and laugh quietly.
"What miracle and prayer did you perform to look so handsome today?” I smiled so genuinely.
I am not happy to what they did and what they have been the days when I wasn’t awake. I don’t want them to fall just because I fell. I want them to continue standing, and living.
“How are you?” I asked them and they went serious.
“Happy that you are awake.” Richard whispered.
“How about you?” Easton asked. “How are you feeling?”
I cracked a smile. "I'm well, now and better," I said, thinking how they became enraged and wild when they found me and I heard Chris's face break.
"I'm sorry," Noel said quietly. I scowled. "We should not have been brought there…”
I shook my head. “"It's never your fault or anyone else's, but it's because of that guy. "I said coldly. I sighed as it continued to ache physically, intellectually, and even psychologically.
"Can we put that behind us? “I said quietly. "I don't want to think about it every day. I want to forget about it, and I don't want to talk about it anymore."
They all nodded.
"I saw Gretta and Thea, but where is Marie?"I asked, my gaze falling on Noel. He sighed and looked at me with sadness.
"She's terrified to see you, and I've been telling her that you she may come with me but she wouldn’t. She’s been here all the time but she doesn’t have strength to enter this room.”
It was a perfect timing because when I moved my eyes outside and I saw her peeked in the glass. Her eyes widened and she quickly moved away.
“Please call her, Noel. I want to know if she’s fine and okay. I don’t want her to be guilty or what.”
The boys left. Noel went outside and I saw Easton called the girls.
Thea and Gretta approaches with a sad eyes and a kind smile.
“Looking so pale yet looking beautiful as ever.” Gretta whispered.
I chuckled. “Thank you for visiting me here.”
“When we heard the news we quickly went here.” Gretta said.
“Is there any pain you’re feeling right now?” Thea asked seriously. The girls’ eyes looked at me, serious. The door opened and I saw Noel walking while holding his hand to Marie.
“Shh…don’t be scared.” Noel whispered to her. Marie was teary eyed. I caressed her face. “Don’t worry about it or don’t guilty. I’m glad you came.” She shook her head as if she wants me to slapped her or blame her, for what? For leaving? For me, it’s the best technique we did.
“I’m glad you fled safely, and you called the boys came…and where did you contact Kairus by the way?” I asked when I noticed him first.
“He was there. When I was running asking help, I saw him running towards me. He quickly followed you. We turned around because the men who almost caught me said that there was a road where Chris was waiting for a car, and I called the boys about it.”
We shifted our topic to simple normal things. I don’t want them to think about it. My heart is weak and I don’t want to lose all my energy about it. Even it hurts and traumatized me but I will still forget it. He can’t let me be die because of it.
I’m strong and I can’t be just weak.
My brother and Kelsey went closer to. My brother is happy and the same time worried. I can see it on his eyes. “Mommy and Daddy will call you after this. Is it okay?”
I sighed and think of my parents. I’ve been keeping them worried about me. I nodded.
“What about your honeymoon?” I asked them worried. Kelsey softly laughed. “It’s not important as the moment. We quickly booked a flight, and your brother? He was crumpling his hand so bad, and wanted to beat that guy. It’s so sad that we couldn’t beat him, his face is broken.” Kelsey whispered the last sentence and which made me laugh.
We talked random things, and behind them was Kairus was standing and his feet was tapping. He was standing there, watching us.
Kelsey and my brother spent a lot of time talking. They also said that they will sleep in the house to look after me. I'm Alright, and I always will be.
They stood up after I yawned once more. Kelsey stood up, and before my brother could, I hold his hand. I whispered him to come close. He nodded and went close.
“Are you sleepy?” He asked, and I nodded. I have something important to say to him.
“Don’t tell them about my sickness.” I said, and he nodded.
“Don’t worry about it.” He promised.
My brother stood up and face my visitors. He checked the time.
“Guys, my sister is sleepy. She want to rest for the moment. The visiting is not close-
“Huh?” Kairus cut my brother off. He looked surprised and looked at me, then at my brother. "I thought it was batch-by-batch?" The boys," he said calmly, pointing to the boys, "then the girls, you, my brother, my sister, and...And I was last." He said. Everyone went speechless.
My brother didn’t even speak for a moment. He didn’t expect that Kairus would say that. The boys looked at him, bloodshot, and the girls were smirking.
“What…what are you?” My brother murmured.
I was asking the same thing.
“I was his guard at first.” He quickly reasoned out. He walked closer and I saw him lift his finger to her sister, and Kelsey quickly went to Andrew.
“You just made me remind that I have to beat you-
“I’m guilty. I want to say apologize.” He quickly went to me, and our eyes just followed to him, shocked with this kind of personality.
