Lonely bitch
**Chrissy**
Honestly, I know Dayle, he would assume something else especially because Egan was his best friend and not mine.
I rubbed my temples, thinking of the appropriate word to use.
“It's not what you're thinking, babe!” I let out calmly.
“Fuck! That line is super old and I just need my girl to explain why the fuck she's got Egan’s wishlist.” Dayle blurted out, his anger coursing through his eyes. “What do you think I’m thinking?” he asked again.
“Okay! Chill the fuck down, Dayle.” I let out firmly as his lips pursed a little. “Remember the time we split?” he nodded before I could continue. “So, sometime later, I met Egan on my porch; believe me, I tried to send him away. He… he just wanted to let me know that he was done trying to get back. It was rough and he ended up giving me the wishlist. Funny enough, I haven't known what it entails but he said that you and I should do it for him, the things he never got to do…” I paused while Dayle stared at me blankly. “At that time, I had no idea that he was cancer positive…” I paused not knowing if I should continue or stop.
Was I even making sense? Was this explanation valid enough for you or what? His silence wasn't even helping.
My chest was clutching, my thoughts spiraling as I gently took the paper to read through and my eyes met something that struck a chord.
Dayle’s eyes darted over the paper as well.
*Haha! I've longed to do this with Dayle & Steve. I thought before we get married, so, yeah. Here it goes😅*
*-Revisit a childhood memory lane: Remember our favorite playground? Yeah. Play our favorite childhood games.*
*-Watch the sunset at a favorite spot with our girls😜*
*-Coldplay’s concert and get super high. *🎫
*-Recreate our memory book. The one where we kept our Polaroids. *📸
*-Sex marathon at the beach with our fianceés.🫠💦(might be weird but do something weirder)*
*-Go on a road trip🚘*
*-Tie the knot. Trio wedding, guys. It bangs.*
*Signing out, dudes!*
Dayle took his gaze away, his eyes squinting almost immediately.
“Damn! It's a whole lot on the list. It's… wonderful,” I said, taking Dayle’s hand in mine.
“He wrote when we were in Hemsville. After prom. We laughed about it, thinking it was dumb, and seeing it right now makes me hate myself. I should have paid a little more attention even if he took things the other way,” said Dayle, the sadness in his eyes was palpable. I didn't know how to consile Dayle again but with this list, I should make sure that the guys follow it.
“I've got an idea.” I jolted in excitement as Dayle’s gaze met mine.
“You… do?”
“Fuck, yes! Mom and Dad think we should get married as soon as possible, right? How about we make this happen in one week?” I asked, and a glint of hope spread across his face.
“Chriss, you are pregnant and it would be stressful for you—”
“It's better than puking every goddamn time, Dayle. Let’s do this before time runs out. I mean, Egan would love this…” I said. “About Coldplay’s concert?! Err…” I grabbed my phone and scrolled through to see if they had any events happening.
According to the dates, it would be weeks after the wedding.
I shoved my phone in his face. “We can omit the concert for now. I think we should do this. Take a break from your fucking job and let's do this baby! In fact, we've not had a vacation in years except that one time after prom. Aren't you tired of the paperwork? Consider my request, my lord!” I teased, earning his genuine smile that radiated the atmosphere.
“You are great at ads, grab yourself s gig, baby!” he pulled me to his embrace, placing a kiss on my head. “He was absolutely right to give you this paper. I suggest we do this after the wedding though. What's a honeymoon without a fun trip?” he asked as I gently pulled away, absorbing his words.
My tongue clicked dramatically, “That's a fucking yes from me, Dayle. All we have to do is get married immediately…” I snapped he punched the air dramatically, screaming a loud yes.
The rest of the moment brought happiness to us.
I mean, we didn't have enemies anymore. We were slowly moving on from the mourning phase and now, we have a baby coming.
What is there not to be happy about
I used to be worried about the timing but the timing is actually in the moments we cherish.
….
The next morning, Dayle said that he wanted to take me for breakfast at a restaurant we both loved visiting. I couldn't help but throw a few snacks into my mouth. Pregnancy is a big feat.
You eat when you're not ready to. And when you're ready, you just hate the heat you're eating.
I've tried to reach Ken and Sophie but they claimed to be too busy to hang out later. But that's okay, I'll cope with Netflix coming through for me.
I wore a white airy dress, rolled my hair up, and did some makeup as well.
I stared at my reflection, hating the fact that my boobs were actually growing too big.
“Dayle?” I screamed while he was in the closet.
“Yes, baby! Need something?” he replied.
“No, I just hate my boobs,” I cried out and I could hear him scoff. I have been acting crazy these past few hours.
“Come on, my love, they are round, perky, and perfect. I love them and our baby would love it—yet I love them more,” he snapped, causing me to crack up.
It's never a boring day with Dayle. He loves everything I hate on my body, he makes me feel very confident and loved.
“Thanks baby,” I said and continued staring at myself. This time, admirably.
I pulled the drawer, and I found a ring box. “Ooops! Does he wanna engage me? When?” I shrugged slipping it down my finger. I stretched my fingers, I loved how it glistened. It was definitely 24-carat gold. I mean, he always promised me a golden ring. Diamonds are overrated.
“Love it!” I said to myself, relishing the moment.
I heard the doorbell ring as I closed the box and pushed back the drawer, making my way out of the room.
…
I reached the door and opened it. I found Nova, simply dressed in a yellow satin dress. Her makeup was mild and so was her smile.
“Hi, your highness!” I said. Did I get it right? I wondered.
“Hey! No need, Chrissy.” she lightly said.
“Oh, ok-ay! Wanna come in?” I asked, looking around if she came with someone else but it was just her and her bodyguards.
“No! I'll be quick!” she said as she flipped her straightened hair and continued, clutching her glittery purse.
“Alright,” I said, crossing my arms.
She cleared her throat and continued. “I don't… really know why Egan stuck to you but I think I understand now. You have that… tenderness that I don't. You listen and I... simply hear. That's what I've been doing all my life. I was overwhelmed by my title and I thought that I could win Egan like a trophy. I wish I lived him in a way he liked and not force myself to get tied up by an obligation over a crown…” she paused as a tear threatened to fall. She instantly used her pinky finger to wipe it off.
“I can get you water, Nova. Or… come in,” I opted calmly, I was only concerned and I didn't know why.
She shook her head frantically, “No. I just wanted to let you know that you won,” she said, her voice breaking.
“I wasn't competing,” I pointed out.
“Yeah, I know. You won anyway. Just forgive me for being a brat to you, you didn't deserve it. It wasn't entirely your fault that he kept running back to you. It was my fault for thinking that I could bend Egan over a title that he didn't give a shit about!” she stated as if he was standing there with us.
At this point, I had no idea what to say. I was only hungry and dying to go for breakfast with Dayle. Although I feel bad for her.
“Dayle is a perfect guy for yoy, you two deserve each other and I hope you realize that he's the one,” she added calmly, her voice picking up its pieces.
Well, I know what I have and I cherish him.
“Just… bye! I'm gonna die a lonely bitch,” she blurted out and left before I could say anything. I was just shocked, my mouth hung open.
“What in fucks name was that outburst for?” Dayle’s voice seeped into the air, dragging out of space and back to earth.
No matter how funny it looked, she was hurt yet grieving.
