Chapter 76
Chrissy
~
I haven't seen Dayle anywhere around the house, Mom and Dad had gone out to visit a friend that had just gotten married.
I ask Dom if he's seen Dayle anywhere close but Dom says that Dayle had gone to the gym. Okay. I understand that he has a lot going on in his mind, I can't help but long yo support him. I should as well partake in the discovery of the truth. Dayle couldn't have done such a thing to Steve.
I change into some comfy outfit taking along my purse as I stride down to the lawn. Dom is not home because he's with Dad but then Bobby is not going to let me leave the house alone. I don't have a choice and I don't want to complicate things either.
The car zooms off, we are heading to the city’s park, it's suitable enough to hold a conversation.
I dial Steve, we have to meet. In fact, I intend to invite Egan and Dayle too so that they would straighten things out but I know it would be terrible. Even if Steve fiesjt partake in their discussion but at least Dayle and Egan should discuss. There's something that needs to be bright to light.
“Chriss!” he answers forcefully snapping me out it my thoughts. I know that he doesn't want to ignore it calls, I'm satisfied with that.
“Stevie, I know that you don't want to talk bit can we meet at the address I'll be sharing? I promise that it's going to be quick!” I explain, I hear him groan lightly.
“Chriss, you know that...” he sighs. “Okay. I hope that you are joy setting me up with your brother—I’m gonna get mad!”
“No. Dayle isn't with me—he’s not even home. I'll see you Steve, besides you owe me this one?! Bye.”
I hang up. He owes me that one tine when he asked me to keep Egan and Dayle for his personal interest, he could return the gesture.
*
I've only waited five minutes in the park and Steve is here. That was swift, perhaps hewas somewhere around the vicinity. I wave at him as he was over to me dressed in matching sweatshirt and sweatpants, Nike shoes too.
“Hey Steve,” we share a brief hug. Bobby is waiting a few distance from where I am—we are. “Thanks for coming!”
“It's fine. I know it’s you—you are not like him—or us.” he says, whatsoever made him say that is not a problem to me. He knows better. We sit on the bench adjacent to us. I give him a weak smile.
“I can't imagine how hurt you are over what has happened but you should know that Dayle—”
“I knew you'd come up with that shit!” he maps angrily at me looking away. He's pissed off. It's as if Dayle’s name irks him the most.
“Steve, Dayle would never do that to you—”
“But he did. He did it to ME!” he grits his teeth turning to me fully. “You don't know shit about Dayle, you don't know a single thing about him. Dayle is a fucking asshole who turned your brother. If he wasn't, do you know what would have come of you by now?” he scoffs, I'm lost. I don't understand him and I'm getting alarmed. “You know nothing, Chriss. If this was why you asked to see me then I'm gonna have to go!” he attempts to leave as so I grab his wrist.
“Steve, I have something to tell you! It's an observation!” I tell him which captures his attention. He turns to me with a perplexed look.
“What do you mean? What is it?”
“Did you not trust Dayle when you shared the video to him?”
“Obviously. Dayle is a brother to me...” he shrugs a shoulder
“Great. Dayle wouldn't hurt you on such a manner, he never watched the video since the time you showed him—”
He laughs sarcastically. “Wht on earth do you have so much trust in the same guy that robbed you off three fucking years of your freedom in Hemsville? I'm not that generous to do what you did. Dayle is cunning as fuck—”
“Don’t you think that it couldn't be Dayle?”
“Funny Chrissy, very hilarious.” he tells me sarcastically. “Are you in anyway implying that it's Egan?” he brows tilts questionably
“I won't say yes or no but I want you to know that Dayle didn't do and I don't know about Egan—”
“You are not making sense right now, Egan is your boyfriend—”
“MY boyfriend. It wouldn't stop him from acting differently, would it?” I pause as well as Steve. He's probably giving a thought. “Look Steve, I know that this is all messed for you and your friends but come on, you need to put more work into finding who did this to you. I'll help—I’ll do my best,”
“Why are you doing this? I've never been nice to you! If you weren't Dayle’s sister then I'm not do sure I'm gonna ever talk to you!” he points truthfully.
“I know.”
“I don't want to believe that Dayle betrayed me but logically it points to him!” he adds
“I know. I'll suggest that you let Dayle speak with you—I think there’s something you both need to find out. Give him a chance—”
“No Chriss, I've done enough. I get the whole thing, he doesn't want to be the only hurt and so he involves me too... I've lost a lot—I lost Lauren, she'd never trust me again. I could be expelled at that...” he springs up restlessly, ruffling his hair. Fuck, this is not going well.
“But you trust him, don't you?” I stand as well
“Chrissy, I got to go! The more I think of it, the more I get fucked up there!“ he points to his head. “I know what uoire trying to do, you wanna badly pacify the situation—you are siding with Dayle. I get it. Brother stuff. Fuck!” he snaps at me and I remain silent, I know that he's telling all these because he's mad.
“Who's Leon? Find out, Steve.” I add
“Leon is fucking ragtag boy who does anything for cash! Stop getting illusions into your pretty head, okay?”
“You just said it, he'll do anything for money—”
“I know that you care,” he plants a hand on my shoulder. “But this is not going to change. I'm not going to sit back and remain silent, Dayle will pay. We are not who you think we are. I'm sorry!” he takes his hand off and starts to walk away.
He leaves me there—to my thoughts. I don't know if I've done the right thing or not.
Bobby comes over to me with a concern look.
“Are you okay, ma'am?”
“Yes. Thanks. We should... go home, please.”
We head to the car as zoom off.
While on the way, I get a text from Egan, speaking of the devil.
*I've got to see you, where are you? You ain't home! Who are you with??*
Egan has got to be kidding me, all because he has not seen me means that I'm hanging out with someone. This is fucking annoying. He's always actong out of character.
*RUDE!! Almost home. We got to talk about a lot!*
I text him back tossing it cellphone to the side on the backseat.
*
As soon as we pull over in the parking space, i sight Dayle speaking with Dad, it doesn't seem like an argument but rather a normal conversation.
I head over to them, Dad gives me a hug informs of a special announcement over dinner. Dad goes in but Dayle grabs my wrist.
“We need to talk!”
He says under his breath, we head towards the garden, the security men aren't there much. We occupy the small glassy round table. Dayle looks worried, he looks bedraggled, he looks worn out as well.
“Are you okay?” I take his hands into mine, he nods a yes. “You look like the opposite to me, the gym did not help rather.”
He scratches his neck slowly talk h off his hands from mine. “I'm fine!”
“No, you're not!”
“Things are about to get fucked up Chriss and I don't know what you'll think of me—us. Whatever it is, you should know that I love you so much, I do. I don't want to lose you—”
“You’re not losing me, jeez Dayle!” I scan the area, just to make sure that no one is listening, we can’t take chances. “What's going to happen anyway?”
“A lot. You might hate it—”
“Chriss?” someone calls from behind us, we both turn to face him at once. It's Egan. “I... I need to talk to you—”
“Dayle and I were talking before you interrupted...” I scowl at him, I'm angry at him. Dayle motions with this eyes for me to keep my cool. I roll my eyes defiantly.
“Can you tell this traitor to excuse us?” Egan tells Dayle rudely. I can't believe my ears.
“Did you leak the video?” I ask him. He returns to his senses, halving his gaze between me and Dayle. He's very speechless, he expressionless.
“You heard her, did you leak the fucking video?” Dayle asks him. Dayle is furious.
