"The day she was at your office." I point to Ryans `` She found out then didn't she?" He nods. That explains why she didn't tell me. She never had a chance. Alaric asks " She was shocked and didn't believe you did she?" " Why would you say that?" I ask. Alaric pinches the bridge of his nose " When Jax and Jace were born we were all there for her. There was a complication after Jax was delivered. She was bleeding heavily and the doctors were having a hard time stopping it. Turns out one of her tubes had ruptured. They had to remove it. She was told having any more children wasn't a possibility. The fact she conceived at all is a miracle. You add everything she has been through these past few days. It's amazing she didn't miscarry."
" Ryans what do we do?" " I talked it over with Tony. He and I are going to take shifts monitoring Merigold. Tomorrow I'm going to do an ultrasound to check the babies statis. Tony is going to take the first shift. Right now it is a wait-and-see game. It is all up to Merigold now." he says. " We should have someone with her at all times so that way she doesn't wake up alone." I say. I hate it but we don’t have any other choice.
" Ryans there was a girl brought in with Merigold. She called Merigold her protector. She looks ok but will you do a quick check on her just to make sure. And can you check over a few of my guys. Make sure they get patched up." " Sure. Take me to the girl first. Then I will handle the others." Ryans says.
After showing Ryans to Lilly I go back to the bar. I know everyone wants an update on Merigold. They have a right to know. They need to hear it from me. I’m their leader and they follow me. I should be the one who tells them their princess isn’t going to wake up for a while. I just don't know how much more I can handle. I'm a grown man and I feel myself fighting back tears. Seeing Merigold laying there looking broken and lifeless. My baby sister that I just got is fighting for her life and the life of the babies she is carrying. Babies she was never supposed to have. My nieces or nephews. Nephews god what am I gonna tell Jace and Jax? Do I let them see their mother like that? That could traumatize them, couldn't it? Would they accidentally hurt her? I know they would want to get in the bed with her. They would want to hold their momma. How do I tell the boys their mom has been hurt? How do you even begin a conversation like that with three year olds?
I'm broken from my thoughts by Thor " Prez?" I didn't even realize I was just standing there not moving. I feel as broken as Merigold looks. " I want someone with Merigold at all times. I don't want her to wake up alone." Brick asks " When will she wake up?" " Ryans doesn't know. Could be hours, could be days. It It."
I stop and look up at the ceiling to get my emotions under control. Now is not the time to break down. My club needs me. My sister needs me. My nephews need me. I can break down later. After she wakes up. When I know everything is going to be ok. That is when I’ll break. " There is a small possibility she might not wake up. Tony and Ryans are going to monitor. We have to take it one day at a time. Her body needs time and rest." Mac comes up to us " I'll stay with her tonight." I nod " Old ladies, when Ryans says it's ok will one or two of you help clean her. Maybe something to cover her up. I don't want her kicking my ass for not giving her a shirt." That earns a half-laugh. Thor's old lady Trina says " Let me know when it's ok and I'll get her taken care of. '' and hugs me.
Axel comes up to me and hands me a kutte from the Reapers Prez Axe " He was the one who ordered Merigold kidnapping. I took care of him myself. Made sure he suffered." " You did good, brother." I turn to the rest of my club. " Thank you brothers for bringing our Princess home. And getting rid of the stain that the Reapers were. Everyone go home and get some rest. Tomorrow is a new day. Maybe we will have some good news.”
