Chapter 60

Viper
Merigold isn't answering me. She has got a deer in the headlights look. I can see the wheels turning in her head. She is trying to come up with something. "I told you it was nothing. You don’t need to worry about it." She didn't say it wasn't. If it wasn't she could have just said no, but she didn't want to lie. I jumped up. I can see this is upsetting Merigold. " I'm going to find out who did this. "
" Viper stop. You can't do anything. I'm not telling you who it is. I said it's over. There is nothing more to talk about. " Merigold says. Nothing to talk about. Is she fucking crazy. If one of my brothers screwed her over and got her pregnant. I'm going to kill him. That's when it clicks. If it was of course she wouldn't tell me just to stop me from doing something like killing him.
I take a deep breath. I need to calm down and talk to her. " Merigold, I know you don't want to tell me. And for now, I will respect that. But I want you to think about something. Dad never got a chance to meet you or you him because of a choice that was taken from the both of you. Do you really want to do the same to your babies?"
I can see she is thinking about it. She knows I'm right. " Just tell the father. If he decides he doesn't want to be involved, that's on him. But you will know that you tried. You didn't take his choice away." She nods " I just need some time first please." I agree and leave the room to let her rest. “ Before you go, can you do something for me?” “ Anything.” “ Tank said you have my purse. I need it and a laptop. I think watching the message dad gave me will help.” I agree and go get her everything she needs. I don’t know why she thinks the usb drive dad left her will help make a decision but I’m not going to stop her. I had forgotten all about the messages until now. Maybe I need to watch mine as well. I get her all set up then leave to give her some privacy.

Merigold

I know Viper wanted more answers, I just couldn’t do it. Even though Axel and Rowdy hurt me I still want to protect them from Viper’s wrath. After he leaves I open the laptop and plug the drive in. When it loads I hesitate for a second before I press play. I’m nervous as to what my dad wanted to say to me. Then I remember how everyone has said how he wanted to meet me. How much he cared for me even though he didn’t know me. I open the video.
I see my dad in his hospital room. I can see all the machines and how sickly he looked. It hurts my heart to see him like that. The thing that sticks out the most is he is smiling. “ My beautiful Merigold. If you are watching I didn’t make it to see you in person. But know that I know you have been found. There is no way for me to tell you how happy that makes me. Merigold my incredible little girl. I guess you aren’t so little anymore. But you will always be my little girl. There aren’t many things in life I regret. But you are my greatest. I regret not being there for you. To watch you grow up. To be there for you for all the little events in your life and the big ones. I tried everything I could to find you. I’m sorry it took so long.”
“ There is nothing I can do to change any of that no matter how much I wish I could. The private investigator just left. He told me all about you. I’m sorry you had to go through so much heartache at such a young age. But you, my girl, fought against it. You have made a good life for yourself. You have grown into a remarkable young woman. And gave two handsome grandsons. I’m not sure if you will believe me but I hope you do. Daddy loves you very much. I am so proud of you and everything you have done. It is an honor to be your father. You, your brother, and my grandsons are the things I am most proud of in this world. Nothing is ever going to change that. No matter where you go in this world or what you do. I will always be proud that you are my daughter.”
“ I hope you give Ethan and the Reckless Renegades a chance. You will find out they are a pretty good group of people. If you find it isn’t for you that’s ok. Just give Ethan a chance. He can be a little gruff but he loves you. And he will always be there for you now that I can’t be. Hell, he would even be there if I was with you. He has loved you since the day we found out you existed the same as me. I want you to know just because I’m not there physically doesn’t mean I’m not with you. Every time you step into the club, the auto shop or the house. I’m with you. Every time you worry, I’m with you to ease you. Every time you are scared, I’m with you for comfort. Every smile, I’m there. Every time Jace and Jax laugh. I’m with you sharing all those moments. I’ll never be far away, my sweet girl. There is nothing I want more than for you to be happy. If you need help for that to happen just ask Ethan. I’m going to end this my girl but I’m not saying good-bye. I’m hoping we will meet in the next life but not for a very long time. By the time the video was done I was crying my eyes out. I could barely see to close the laptop. I don’t know what I was expecting but to know my dad loved me and that he was proud of me was more than I could ask.
