The Hunt Begins

I woke up at five in the morning to scout all the participants of the competition and divide them into four groups, each group consisting of five people. I made sure Alejandro and I were in the same group. no matter what my parents think I won't let them impede in my mating.

I smiled at Alejandro when he raises his eyebrow at me in amazement, I wink playfully which in return was entertained with a change in his pupils, his eyes flashed black giving me a glimpse of his inner Beast. a shiver went down my spine as I try to control the effects on my mate.

"ok, everybody, stick with your group, makes sure everyone is safe, stay alert and let's go get that motherfucker," I growl encouraging them. everyone in the room scream and growls with me, the Testosterone in the room suffocates the other lower breed of werewolves in the room servicing and helping in the war preparation.

they whimper in submission, Alejandro gestures them to leave the room immediately after the first whimper broke out, I feel butterflies in my belly at the small gesture, he doesn't overpower the lower status people. he was unbiased.

"let's go kick some ass," roars fill the room and I make eye contact with Alejandro, he was watching me with pride, admiration, and love? God! I'm seeing things.

"That was amazing, bro, you got this" josh pats me on my back, he takes the role of beta very seriously, but more than that he is a great friend.

I smile at him, then look around the room to search for my mate, I frown when I didn't find him but then I saw Sorin walking out behind a very muscular back. a sigh leaves me when I see him not so far away from me.

"You're being too obvious Enzo, " he puts his arm around my shoulder and pulls me away, "you've got some drool over here," he teases pointing at my chin. I roll my eyes pushing him away.

he chuckles at my flustered face enjoying every moment of it.

we gathered around the cars, we had a plan to ambush the secret hideout Claudius was hiding at, but the only problem was that there were four different spots and that's why it's might be a bit dangerous diving into it headfirst, we got all the necessary weapons if need be and we have been training our entire lives for this moment, not beating Claudius but winning the crown.

"son, remember what we talked about, make sure you get to him first," my father reminds me over and over again, I don't react to it much just nod my head stiffly. I glance at my mother who stood beside my father, she smiled at me wishing me the best but I subtly glare at her. I can't get the words of hatred out of my head, her voice echoed in my mind every time I look at her.

I got in the jeep and off we go. I was still a bit stiff after the encounter with my parents. a handholds mine and the sparks make it known that it belongs to my mate, I know for someone who hated him, this was a drastic behavior change. no matter how much I ignore it but in the end, he is still my mate, and he already has a lot of people hating him, he doesn't need me, his mate hating him at the top.

I smile at him holding his hand tighter in mine, Josh and Sorin joined us, Sorin was driving and Josh was in the passenger seat, they weren't part of the competition but as our betas, they were allowed to join us.

"We will meet Phill and Cole at the warehouse, they will notify us if there is any activity," Sorin's voice was stone cold, more so than Alejandro's, his face held no recognition of any expression. we nodded at him and watched out the window deep in our thoughts.

"We are here," Sorin announced after driving for three hours, we got out of the jeep and took out guns and other weapons, we nodded at each other signaling to go

Phill and Cole joined us holding their weapons close to them, they were one of the top ten competitors but also very respectful they didn't fight when I announced myself as the leader of our group.

I sign everyone to spread out and ambush them all together, Alejandro joined me, and the both of us entered the warehouse from the exit, we crunch down holding our weapons closer to our bodies, our informer informed us that there might be more than fifty people in this area but they were about of Claudius was not affirmative.

"Enzo, we got a problem," Josh's voice made its way into my head, I signal Alejandro to stop as I talk to Josh.

"what problem?" I asked without moving my lips.

"There is no one here," he said defeated. I narrowed my eyes at that.

"what do you mean?" I walk straighter into the warehouse. Alejandro was right behind me.

"look for yourself, " he said and I did, I saw the warehouse empty.

I stood beside Josh and Alejandro stood ahead of us, staring at the huge pile of ash.

"This is monstrous," Josh whispered shivering at what sight.

I watch Sorin walking beside Alejandro and watch the scene. there were lots and lots of body parts hanging on the roof with little clothes and shoes still attached to them.

"Children, these are all children," I mumble heart broke with the revelation of the things.

"We need to find this bastard," Josh said growling furiously

I watch the duo, Sorin and Alejandro they were in their world not saying a single word, they had a plan of their own or maybe they knew something we didn't.
