The new Normal

"How did you do on the test? wasn't the fifteenth one the hardest?" Alene asked walking next to me, as we walked to the cafeteria she engages in a conversation with me about the math test we had, well she might as well flunk it but still.

"Please the fifteenth one was the only one I got right," and of course Josh was with me, studying at the university even though he hated it and never fails to remind me of it. he is a good friend, he deserves better too, I hope the moon goddess would grant him a second chance mate.

I smile at them enjoying their bickering, it's my only sort of entertainment around here. Alene is an omega and she was the first person to befriend us on the first day at college, yeah, I decided to continue with my education. I'm currently majoring in business, at the Florida University of arts and business.

Alene didn't care that the both of us were from the higher bloodline of Alphas and Betas, all she cared about was befriending, she said and I quote 'the two of the hottest and the handsome boys in school' she wanted to make her bullies jealous and it kind of worked.

"I don't know we had to take math even in business management," she whined throwing her head back dramatically causing a scene in the corridor, well, everyone has already been used to her behavior.

it's been a year since I have joined college and living on my own, it's kind of fun actually, being on your teaches you a lot of things.

We grab our lunch and walk to our table were three more of our friends were waiting for us, All three of them are humans, they are among the thirty people of the human population in my university.

"Enzo, are you going to visit your family this weekend?" Vanya asked, Josh, froze to my right, not knowing what to do. I smile at her trying to ease the conversation, after all, it is a harmless question from a harmless being.

"My parents are busy with the family business, they won't be home for the weekend, I think I will spend it here in my apartment," I replied eating my lunch.

Vanya, David, and Alisha are humans, they were assigned to us in a group project and then we stuck to each other like glue then onwards, it's nice to know that someone was interested in you without wanting anything in return.

We were enjoying our lunch while talking about random things when the doors of the cafeteria banged open and everyone turned to look at the intruder, I didn't though because I knew who it was.

"uh-oh, Stalker alert," The girls snickered high five each other, laughing silently.

The boys on the other hand watched the girl group walk towards us, eyeing every girl in the group like a piece of meat, Josh was a werewolf but didn't have a mate so that gave him a free pass and about David, well he is a human so it doesn't matter.

"Hi, Enzo, looking handsome as always, " said the bimbo of the University, Lisa, is her name.

She moves to sit on my lap, but I move away, she chuckles "Don't be shy, we are all adults here, no one cares," she laughed hauntingly. I feel my wolf growl in bitterness.

"I do, please leave," I said rudely glaring at her. it's been a while since she has been following me around the campus, spreading rumors about us being together.

she just stood there looking at me with disbelief, "Are you seriously going to be like this? I know you want me, let's just stop running around in circles and get together already," she whined, I got off the chair and left without another word.

She kept yelling after me but I don't stop, I didn't stop till I reach the vending machine and grab a drink. I take a huge gulp of the cold drink and sigh frustrated.

I felt someone stand next to me and snickered, I kicked his leg but that got him bursting out laughing. "Stop it already"

"It must be hard being the most popular in here, you have got girls and boys chasing you the moment you entered the university," he laughed like a madman.

I roll my eyes at him, yes, I have received confessions from guys as well as girls, and both of them won't stop chasing after me even when I said I wasn't interested.

"Stop it, it's not like I want this stupidity around me, I'm leaving, " I said before leaving him to laugh at me miserably.

I left the campus and walked towards a little apartment I bought for Josh and me, I had a hard time adjusting to the dorm because I kept having nightmares, and sometimes my wolf would act up and cause trouble. there was a time when he shifted in the middle of the day in my room while a human boy was present because he kept talking about soulmates and stuff.

He declared that he found his soulmate in one of his classmates and was never letting her go, I almost had his head ripped off but thankfully Josh stopped me.

Since then both of us moved out of the dorm and started living on our own. it's better that way, I don't have to watch my back every time someone says something that might upset my wolf.

I open the door and lean on it as I closed it. sighing tiredly I close my eyes "I wonder how long do I have to live like this?" I ask out loud hoping for someone to answer.

the next thought hit me as I was changing out of my jeans into comfortable sweatpants, "Will I be able to feel any kind of spark for anyone? or am I going to live miserably for the rest of my life?"

now that thought scared the shit out of me, I don't want to live a life filled with loneliness, I want a life, a family, children, I want it all.
