Curiosity killed the cat
"What the hell do you think you're doing " the Alpha screamed pushing his way through the guards, I glance at him then look ahead to see the waves in the barrier, it was invisible before but it was slowly losing their power, who knew bringing Craig would be this helpful.
"Alpha Lorenzo this was not in the deal, you cannot interfere in my pack's business," he growled raising his voice at me.
I glance at him as he huffed furiously, then went back to looking at Craig, he spread his arms wide open towards the invisible ford chanting intensely in ancient Greek. I still have a nagging feeling deep in my chest, if I should trust him. he is a psychopath with immense power that could destroy all of us where we are standing.
I cross my arms and stand straight "you withheld the information about the existence of such a place in your pack when we asked if there was anything unusual or strange in here. you are interrupting us from breaking through, meaning you weren't clueless or stupid, you did this on purpose, that's a crime," I said looking at his face annoyed with his presence
all his anger from before faded away when I glared at him, the power of a king flew out of me in waves at the disrespect. he submitted showing me his neck, "please sir, let's talk, I had my reasons for hiding this fact from you, I will tell you everything but don't break the barrier, there is something beyond this, something horrible that would bring death on its wake," his voice turned cold looking at the void, I watched him looking dramatic and frightened.
I sighed "Craig, can I trust you?" I asked him, he turns his head towards me a little bit, he looks suspicious of me as to why I was asking this out of nowhere, but he nods nonetheless, this was the only time he seemed sincere "break the force field if I don't return in an hour," I tell him and gesture Cade to walk ahead and explain his excuse to why I shouldn't do what I was doing.
I look back at Alpha Cade, who looked grateful, "you have one hour, " I warned
he gestured for us to walk away "it would be convenient if we spoke in my office, " he said walking towards his car, I sigh in annoyance, 'he better not be thinking about kidnapping me' I thought to myself and follow him.
we reach his packhouse within ten minutes and he ran to his office like a headless chicken. I walk into his office and take a seat on the chair that's opposite his. "you have fifty minutes left, choose your words wisely," I cautioned him. he nodded his head and sat on his chair.
"Sir, I know it's hard to believe but that force field has been in our pack for a thousand years, protecting it was the only inheritance we got as the Alphas of the pack," he began fidgeting nervously in his place, I sat up in my chair looking straight at his intimidating him.
"I'm not supposed to tell an outsider about this but you gave me no choice," he sighed hopelessly, he stopped to watch my reaction to his bullshit but one look at me and he knew I wasn't buying this.
He got up from his chair and went around to his bookshelf, he browsed through it and finally found the one he was looking for, it was a thick leather book with a symbol of a tree. "this is where it all began," he placed the book in front of me opened on a specific page, he pointed on a paragraph where there was a picture of a creature that looked like a witch, standing on a mountain of bodies.
"This is a dark witch, she was the evilest and the most powerful being in our country a thousand years ago, she practiced human sacrifice, animal slaughter, and used werewolf children's blood to perform her magic, this went on for almost a decade when the first Alpha of our pack found out, they tried everything in their power to control it or kill it, but she was too powerful, that's when a light witch came up with an idea to trap her in a cave until she starves to death," he laughs at it like the fact of it was the most stupid thing.
"The witch knew what they were planning so, she completed the ritual of sacrifice using a werewolf's blood and lathered herself in it, we don't know what she did but when the pack members thought she might be dead after being in the cave for more than a decade, but they were wrong she was very much alive and killed all the people who went to check up on the body, she killed everyone but one, she wanted to make a statement, so she went after the light witch, they fought till the end but the dark witch was too powerful, on her last breath she used all her power to summon up a barrier around them and trapped the dark witch inside, it's been a thousand years but the witch is still alive, feeding on the stray that dares to walk in the barrier unknowingly," he finished his story sitting back in his chair.
I process everything he said "why didn't you go to the royal court? why hide it yourself?" I inquired finding lots of loopholes in his story.
he sighed tiredly "the werewolf blood she used for the ritual was the blood of the young Alpha, during that time, participating in a ritual of a dark witch forcefully or not would get one killed in the king's court, so we hid this information, " he confessed shamefully.
"you said something about her feeding on stray, how is it possible when there is that barrier, " I asked narrowing my eyes at him.
"Every once in a while when the moon turns red, the witch regains her power and summons the nearest supernatural being to consume power to break the barrier. it has not been much but we found traces of someone or something going in, not many but a few," he looked down in shame.
I sighed in annoyance, this was so disoriented, everything was a mess, nothing made sense. " due to your incompetency, I as the temporary King will take over this matter and look into it, I don't trust you enough to believe everything you said, I need to see it for myself, " I stood up dismissing him completely.
"She keeps luring beasts," his words stopped me from moving out the door, " beasts are the most powerful being and she feeds on them to break the barrier," he said walking around to face me.
"I know the Prince was a beast, and I know for the fact that she had her fill from him, breaking the barrier will not do any of us good, " he explained talking slowly looking into my eyes.
I stared at him unmoving "if that's the case, " I moved closer to him so that my face was next to his ear, "I will break the barrier and deal with her myself, I didn't get to kill Claudius for taking my mate away from me, but if she did what you think she did, I would like to look in her eyes while I tear her apart, bathe in her blood as the screams of pain echo in the silent night, " I pat his shoulder and walkout
