Swallow Her Whole

Zorah shot another glance at Icaro who was walking through the vineyard, about five rows over, adjacent to her and Sidonia.

“He seems really steamed.”

Sidonia’s whispered comment had Zorah nodding her agreement.

“That Walrus guy is something else though. He’s the biggest man I’ve ever seen in my life. I bet if you put him and the big guy from the Sherlock Holmes movie we watched side by side, The Walrus is bigger.”

“His neck is thicker than my legs,” Zorah acknowledged quietly. “I simply don’t understand his fascination with me. I feel like he’s using me to get to Icaro.”

“I don’t know. I mean, I’m not speaking with a wealth of experience here but the way he was looking at you didn’t make me think he was thinking of Icaro at all. He was focused on you and you alone. I think he might have even been considering eating you up like the big bad wolf.” Sidonia giggled, “he probably could too. He’s so big you’d slide right down his gullet the way a hotdog gets swallowed by a seagull.”

Zorah stopped and turned to Sidonia incredulously, “what?”

“I mean he could shove you right down his throat.”

“What are you two talking about?” Vodingo appeared out of nowhere.

“The Walrus eating Zorah.” Sidonia quipped.

Vodingo lifted an eyebrow, “excuse me?”

Sidonia realized her words and blushed hotly, “no. Not like that. I meant he’s so large like a giant, he could swallow her down his throat in one movement.”

“How would you know?”

“He is here doing business with your father. He said some things to piss off Icaro and he hit on Zorah.”

“He hit on you?” Vodingo looked to Zorah, “why?”

“Um, gee, thanks?” Zorah’s lips curved downward.

“I don’t mean you’re not attractive Zorah, but everyone knows you are a Lucchesi bride. It’s not like he even has a chance so why would he bother?”

Zorah tilted her head. “I might be a Lucchesi bride, Vodingo, but I still have free will. How do you know he doesn’t stand a chance?”

“Because The Walrus is,” Vodingo made a disgusted expression, “so him. He’s a proverbial bull in a China shop. He has no finesse and no sophistication. He is rich yes, but it didn’t give him –”

“Are you about to tell me that because the man was born into poverty, he is inferior to you and Icaro?”

“Not in the least!” Vodingo argued with her. “What I am saying is, he always sported a chip on his shoulder and growing up poor didn’t give him the same advantages we were given so he was constantly in competition. Usually, he was competing with other wealthier families because ours supported his mother and his father worked for us. He never tried to compete with Icaro academically because Icaro is a fucking genius and even if he studied a thousand years, he wouldn’t have beat him in exams but the rest of them, he was consistently waging little wars of jealousy. I think this time The Walrus decided he was going to try to take on the one person he never did before.”

“You think it’s a game.”

“I don’t know if I’d call it a game, per se.” Vodingo shrugged. “More of a way to prove to himself he’s as good if not better than Icaro Lucchesi. He will try and he will fail, and it will demonstrate it doesn’t matter how much bulk in your body or money in the bank, a man is defined by his actions. His actions have always been borne out of spiteful resentment. He never was given what we had growing up and now he can afford it, he’s finding it isn’t as fulfilling. If he’s flirting with you, trying to steal you away from Icaro, maybe he’s realizing it’s the relationships which are important and not the things. Unfortunately for him, taking someone else’s relationship for your own doesn’t bode well, especially for someone coveting a Lucchesi bride.”

“Why?”

“Coming after his bride is like declaring a war on Icaro. The entire family will stand behind Icaro.” Vodingo said bluntly.

“There will be no need for this,” Icaro walked up to the group. “I am confident enough in my bride to know in time she will love me. It will be in her time and on her own without anyone forcing her. He can get down on his oversized knees and plead for her love but even if she decided to try him on, I know in my heart she will always come back to me.”

Zorah was surprised by his words, “you think if I went with him, I would miss you so much I’d come back to you?”

“Not a doubt in my mind.” Icaro’s lips curled up in a cheeky grin. “Unless of course he crushed you to death in bed. Then I would go find you in the afterlife and we could be together then.”

“You would joke about her sleeping with him?” Vodingo asked hoarsely.

“I do not for one second think Zorah would sleep with him. She is not one to go sleeping around with anyone. Also, we are married, and she won’t break her marriage vows. If our marriage was ended or she found herself single, I still do not think she would sleep with him.”

“Why?”

“Because he’s the size of a fucking house. He’s probably hung like a demon and would split in her half. Nobody wants that for their first time.” He gave her a laugh as she swung out at him to punch his shoulder.

“You are so crass.” She picked up a rock and threw it as his feet.

“Am I wrong? For once in my life, I’m glad to be just above average in size because I think he’s scary to consider for a first time. Imagine that thing coming at you naked.”

Sidonia giggled in spite of herself and Vodingo covered her ears.

“Icaro, stop putting images into my wife’s head. It is going to make her look at The Walrus and imagine him. I can barely satisfy her on my own. Do you know last night she woke me three times?”

“I did not!” Sidonia took off chasing after Vodingo through the field as he screamingly protested, she was trying to seduce him again and his body was too tired.

Zorah looked at Icaro who was laughing. “You really don’t think I would go to him? You have so much confidence?”

“I do. I am grateful to him though.”

“Why?” Zorah was confused.

“Because the more my faults are presented to me, the better man it makes me want to be in the future. I cannot change who I was, but I can change who I will be. Let them all tell me how I fucked up. It simply shows me other ways I can improve to be the husband you deserve.”

“I see.”

“Also, did you see his tongue. It is short. You like mine between your thighs.”

“You!” she lunged at him, and he caught her laughing.

He kissed her nose. “Let’s go home.”
