9: Power Practice
“She is nervous.” Zamiyah warned she could see her sisters nerves she knew this was getting to her and she wished that it didn’t.
“About the ball.” Ethan guessed.
“You know it.” Zamiyah answered.
“What is there to be nervous about?” Ethan asked as far as he was concerned nothing was wrong with his older sister and no one could tell him otherwise.
“I’m different.” Layla said. She grabbed a cup off her dresser heading into the bathroom to fill it with water before going to sit back on the floor. She knew because she had these pwoeres that she couldn’t explain if people were to ever find out it wouldn’t end well for her.
“And who cares?” Ethan asked he knew he didn’t he knew Liam and Maya didn’t care what their sister could do. She was there sister and they loved her for her.
Layla smiled and sighed she loved them for never treating her like she was different. Accepting her for who she was but she knew everyone wouldn’t see it like that. “I’m different i have powers i don’t know how to use and people used to hate people like me.”
“It doesn’t matter.” Ethan said he knew this was his sister and she shouldn’t care about what others thought of her. She was the best person he knew regardless of what she could do.
“When they get to know you they will love you.” Zamiyah assured she knew her sister had the best personality there was she was nice and kind she cared about others. There was no one better than her she refused to let her think differently just because she has powers.
“Thanks but i’m not sure others would see it that way. Now let’s see what i could do.” Layla poured a little of the water into two of the glass containers and a little into the three bowls.
“So what are you about to try?” Ethan asked he knew for the past decade his older sister had been able to manipulate water and fire and he loved seeing how carefree she was when she used her magic.
“Just watch?” Layla emphaszied she knew it would be a nice little show.
Layla put her hand over one of the containers that held the water freezing it. She moved to the empty third container, conjured a ball of fire in her hand and put it into the container.
“Cool!”
“Not done yet.” Layla smirked she moved her hand over the bowl lifting it slowly and making the water rise up like it was a snake before rotating her hand and making it into a ball of water.
“Wow.”
She rotated her empty hand and conjured a ball of fire.
“Ooh.”
“There’s more.” Layla said she loved what she could do she loved learning to do more with it. When she used her powers she felt more like herself and she loved that feeling and always sought to feel it more.
“Ok.”
She released the water and fireball into the bowls before going to the container of water she made is rise and spun her hand making it spin in a snake like figure around her.
“Wow.”
She lifted her other hand over the fire making it to start to spin.
“Fire and water nice.”
“Wait for it.” Layla said she made the ice rise creating an ice snake and added it to the spinning water and fire.
She shot her hands up and made the water and ice disintegrate instantly in a puff of smoke before blowing slightly on the fire making it fizzle out.
“You’ve improved.” Ethan knew she used to be scared to use her powers and the more she used it the happier she was.
Layla nodded while her powers freaked her out and she wasn’t sure where they came from or why she had them. What she did know was they were not going anywhere. And the sooner she learned control the better she was going to be. “Yeah, i have it’s been nervewracking trying to figure out what all i could do but i figured it out.”
Ethan smiled to his sister he was happy she was letting herself want this instead of being araid of what it was. “Well that’s changed hasn’t it look how good you are getting.”
Layla sighed and nodded she knew he had a point, whole she couldn’t control when it happened yet. She could learn how to use it. “I know right its exilerating getting to test my pwoers and see how far i can go.”
“As it should be.” Zamiyah smiled she knew her sister getting to use her powers should be fun for her and not feel like she was a burden.
Ethan sighed he knew his siter was special and their was nothing for her to be ashamed of and he couldn’t wait for her to realize it too. “Your special sis and no one will ever be able to take that away from you.”
“I know you guys are right but it’s so much more complicated then you guys know.” Layla sighed shooting her hands at the bowls of fire and water she had making both disapear.
