21: Dancing with Jonah

Layla turned around to see Jonah she was surprised to see him here. But of course she didn’t know him as they had only met the one time in the market. She wasn’t even sure what he was doing here or who he was. “Are you following me again?”

“I was never following you.” Jonah commented he had been intrigued and had followed her wanting to understand why.

Layla rolled her eyes shaking her head she didn’t by that but she guessed she would go with it for now. “Then what do you call it.”

“I call it being intrigued.” Jonah answered and it was true he was intrigued with her and wanted to get to know her better.

“Oh so i intrige you.” Layla asked curiously she found that funny since she barely even knew him.

“Yes you do.” Jonah held out his hand for her as classical mustic stated to play. “Would you indulge me in a dance.”

“Sure.” Layla took his hand letting him guide her to the dace floor. He begun to glide her across the floor falling into step with everyone else. Layla wanted to know more learning that she intrigued him wasn’t enough. “So why do i intrigue you?”

“I’m not sure your different for starters i don’t know a lot of people who would miss out on a chance at queen or who refuse to judge a book by it’s cover.” Jonah answered honestly he liked how she didn’t have a care but seemed to be nervous at the same time and he wanted to know more.

“Well it’s something i learned to do.” Layla said. It was honest she had been taught that no matter who you are you should never judge and she had always stuck by that. “I’m an older sister and i’m supposed to lead by example.”

“You certainly are.” Jonah confirmed he didn’t know a lot of older siblings but he could tell that she was a good older sister.

“What about you i don’t even know who you are except for the fact that you are constantly flirting with me?”

“I wasn’t flirting.” Jonah lied he was flirting just to see how far she’d be able to get.

“Yes you were.” Layla pressed. She knew she had caught onto it and her sister had too.

“Maybe a little.” Jonah confessed but like he had told his dad he hadn’t even been sure if he wanted to go ahead with this. He would rather get to know the girl in front of him.

“Why?” Layla asked she didn’t have many interactions with the outside world besides when she got to go to ht emarket for the things she needed so she wasn’t sure what to do or say.

“Because i found a beautiful girl who i would like to get to know better.” Jonah answered. And it was true he did want to get to know her better and he wanted her to become his new wife.

“Well i guess thats a start.” Layla smiled.

Jonah twirled her around before pulling her to him He wanted his chance he knew who he wanted his wife to be he was looking right at her. “So i stand a chance?”

“Maybe i don’t know ” Honestly Layla wasn’t even sure if she was ready for this. She didn’t think she could do something like this when she was destined to be soulmates with the prince. “I have other priorities right now.”

“Tell me you will at least consider me.” Jonah asked he needed to make sure he had a chance.

“Yes i will think about it.” Layla confirmed although she couldn’t promise more than that right now.

The music ended and the two stepped apart from each other. “Save me the last dance.”

“Ok.”

Jonah went to find his parents he needed to tell him he had picked who his new queen would be. He found them sitting in the throne room his mother laying against his father. “Mom dad i have chosen my new queen.”

“Jonah.” Ryan warned he knew this was not the time especially since he had only been downe there for ten minutes and only danced with one girl. Who he assumed was the girl from the market.

Emma shot her husband a look she wanted what was best for her son and if this was it then so be it. “Let him speak Ryan.”

Jonah needed his mom to understand that this was the best thing for him right now. He would do what he had to do in order to see this through but that was going to start with this. “I will find your goddaugher i promise i will work with her and help her against Lucinda but i met a girl and i know you want me to get married i choose her.”

“What is her name?” Emma asked she was happy for her son if this was what he wanted then so be it.

“Layla Linwood.” Jonah answered/

Emma smiled nodding. “Very well you have found your new queen.”

Layla was standing off to the side when a guard walked over to her. She didn’t like that he was coming to her. “Miss we need you to come with us.”

“What for?” Layla asked.

“You've been pixked follow us.”

King Ryan and Queen Emma stood as the music stopped. “Thank You everyone for partixipating in our grabd ball for my son.”

“It has been a proud moment for us all and he has enjoyed meeting all of you. But he has chosen who will be his next queen she has already been escorted off of the floor. We hope the rest of you ladies enjoy the ball at the end we will have a big announcement. Where you will meet your new queen and learn a special announcement.”

Ryan and Emma had both agreed it was time to come clean to the kingdom to tell them everything.
