15: Coming clean
It was two days before the ball and Layla had decided that her siblings was right she couldn’t risk it she knew staying was going to do nothing but put her into more danger. She packed a bag sliding it under her bed. She was planning on writing a letting and apologizing but letting her parents know that she had to do this.
“Don’t do it.”
Layla stood turning around to see her mom standing against the door, her dad right behind her. She hadn’t wanted to run into them planning to make her escape in the middle of the night while the family was asleep.“What?”
“Don’t try to run.” Liana pleaded she knew her daughter thought this was what was best for her but she wanted to assure her that it was not.
“Why would i?” Layla asked feigning stupidity she didn’t want her parents to become aware of what she was doing or why.
Liana sighed she knew her and Henry had always pretended as if they didn’t know what was going on with Layla. “Layla we know that we act like we are daft. But we are not.”
“I don’t know what you are talking about.” Layla lied she would rather not tell her parents that she had been planning to leave without saying goodbye to them.
“Layla we raised you.” Henry reminded he knew his daughter he knew that it was time rhey all talked about what had been going on. “Have a seat we need to have a long awaited talk.”
“What talk?” Layla asked she didn’t get what there was to talk about she had made her decision leaving was guaranteeing her safety and keeping her family safe from the disaster that was her.
“Sit.” Liana ordered she knew Henry was right the two needed to come clean about her past about who she was. And what she was destined to do.
She had a seat on her bed as her mom walked in with her dad closing the door. She was confused what was this important or how they even knew she had been planning to make an escape. “What is this?”
“We have to tell you something. ” Liana cautioned. She wasn’t sure how her daughter was going to take it. But she needed her to know that she only had been protecting her.
“Tell me what?” Layla asked.
“You are adopted.” Liana admitted. This was something she had always planned on taking to the grave she figured her eldest would eventually put it together.
“What?” Layla asked. She had always knew she was different but she had never considered being adopted
Liana nodded slightly thinking back. She knew when she had found otu she cpouldn’t get pregnant her and Henry had already been planning on having a big family. “Baby you were the first we adopted then we adopted the others.”
“We’re all adopted.” Layla asked amazed. She knew they all looked different but she had never thought anything about it. She knew she was different but she had never wanted to talk about it with them in order to get the full story on what was going on.
“Yeah baby you are.” Henry confirmed.
Layla stood astonished she couldn’t believe her parents were only now sharing this with her. “And you are just now telling me.”
Liana nodded she knew her daughter was going to have a bad reaction but there was so much more that she needed to know. When they had first adopted her the plan was they were raised as theres and no one would be able to question it. “We never wanted you to know the plan was to always keep it from you. We didn’t think it was important to burden you with.”
“I’m adopted.” Layla sat down on her bed she hated that everything was starting to make sense that it was all piecing together.
Liana knew this was the time to tell her they knew about her powers. That they knew she was different and they didn’t care. “You are you were our special baby as soon as we seen you we knew that we wanted you to be our daughter.”
“And we have done everything so you would feel safe and welcome so all of you will.” Henry added he knew that she needed to be assured that it wouldn’t change the way they felt about her ever.
“You’re special really baby you are.” Liana knew it wasn’t even just her powers it was everything. She was an amazing girl and hated hiding her from the world. Making her feel like she only ever had them. “We have known that for years and we never wanted to make you feel like something you are not.”
“What are you talking about?” Layla asked. She hoped they weren’t going the way she thought they were.
“We need to tell you something” Henry said.
“Whatelse.” Layla asked. She didn’t get what more they could have to share with her.
Liana sighed hoping she took this as well as they thought she would. “We know we know that you are more than special we know you can randomly freeze things or heat things and that is ok. ”
“I-I- i’m a freak.” Layla chuckled slightly she knew having her siblings know about what she was capable of had never been much of a problem but she had been terrified of what would happen if her parents found out.
Liana shook her head she never wanted her babygirl to feel that way about herself. “No baby you are not a freak.”
Henry knew it was time for them to let her in on some more things, And make sure she knew they loved her above all. “We don’t see many people like you anymore but that doesn’t change how we feel about you. We love you and you will always be our daughter. We only need to get you in so they can say that you were here.”
“And then i can leave?” Layla asked. Staying and having to deal with everyone and risking her powers going haywire was scaring her.
Henry nodded he knew it was that simple if she was seen then she could simply leave. “Yes if you stay to the back and don’t draw attention to yourself we can get you and here and out without you being selected.”
“And if i am.” Layla asked nervously.
“If you are just be yourself because they will love you.”Liana smiled. She was sure when she fianlly met the prince he was going to fall in love with her instantly after all it was destiny. ” No one will care when they get to know the real you.”
“Ok.” Layla nodded she was sure they were right.
“We love you.” Henry affirmed.
“And we will always love you nothing about that will ever change.” Liana added she needed her daughter to know this that nothing will ever change.
Layla got up hugging her parents she was happy they knew and that nothing was going to change. “I love you too i was so scared about saying something.”
“There’s more baby but we need you to know this doesn’t change anything.”
“More?” Layla let them go looking at them both confused.
