25: The Announcement

They headed to the balcony that was overlooking the ball. The music stopped as the king cleared his throat. “Today Layla Linwood has been chosen as your next queen of Greenville. We have to confess something. The ball was merley a ruse to try and find someone.” Ryan knew after all this time the kingdom deserved to know the truth of what was going on.

“I have been keeping my power from you guys.” Emma said she held out her hand lifting it slowly as a vine rose from the ground. She knew it was finally time if they wanted the next few days to go smoothly. They were going to need to let the kingdom start to adjust to this. “I am a witch from the Land Of The Unkown.”

She heard gasps throughout the ballroom.

“Lucinda used to be one of my best friends and when she tried to take over i knew i had to put a stop to it. I’m sure everyone remembers the prophecy.” Emma knew when the prophecy came out it had changed everything. It had put everything into perspective of what must happen if they wanted peace in the kingdom.

“We will have harmony again
But she will first seek revenge
At last, she feels betrayed
By someone who she helped invade
She will lose only if
You find the girl with the special gift
A power that should not exist
But you shall know this comes with a twist
The kingdoms must again unite
With those who cause us frights
The Lost princess of fire and ice
Will help us pay the ultimate price
Alone we will fail
Together we will sail
The Princess of the unknown
the prince on our throne
for they will not be lovers
but instead soulmates who will not suffer”

She knew this was the time to bring everyone at peace before. “The princess of the unknown is my goddaughter we held this ball so that we could find her and today we have. Layla who was adopted by Henry and Liana is the heir to the Land Of the Unkown. The daughter of Cameron of the ice Kingdom and Xavier of the Fire Nation the lost princess of ice and fire. Why don’t you show them what you can do Layla.”

Layla took a breath before stepping forward she twisted her hand slowly producing a ball of fire before guiding her hand down and lifting water from the ground and forming a ball of water.

“Layla princess of fire and ice she will be your new queen.” Emma announced she knew this was a lot to give them all at once but they needed to prepared since they were now short on time. They needed to act fast.

“And together they will save Greenville and unite the kingdoms. Enjoy the ball.” Ryan said as he and Emma turned and walked away they knew they were going to have to let the two get to know each other as they soon would be married.

Jonah went and stood in front of Layla blowing lightly on the ice water and fire ball making both disappear. “How did you do that?” Layla looked at her hands confused. She had never met someone who had powers like her it was something she would certainly have to adjust to.

“I have my ways.” Jonah chuckled. His mom was a good witch and she had taught him a lot of what he knew. He knew he was fortunate in that aspect because Layla never had anyone to teach her how to use her powers.

“Oh really?” Layla asked teasingly.

The background music changed ballroom music starting to play. Jonah smirked to her. He remembered she had promised him a dance. “You promised me the last dance.”

“Then do i get an explanation.” Layla asked she liked being carefree but there was still a lot she didn’t know.

“Of course.” Jonah promised he would tell her whatever she wanted to know no matter what it was.

“Then lets.” She held out her hand for him.

He took her hand and led her back down the floor parted as they walked through.

She sighed she knew now that it was out it was going to be different. She knew everyone was going to act differently around her. “There scared of me?”

“No they aren’t.” Jonah objected. He knew for the citizens of Greenville this was new they had lived without the unknown for so long they weren’t sure how they were supposed to act around them.

Layla shook her head she loved that he was trying to ensure she felt wanted and not that everyone was against her. But she knew better she knew that she was different and the people of Greenville hated different. “I just held fire and water in the palms of my hand you think they aren’t scared of me.”

“They just found out their queen is a member of the Land Of the Unknown.” Jonah reminded. He knew they simply had a lot on their mind because of everything that had come out.

“I guess that’s kind of scary,” Layla admitted she could only imagine how they felt now.

“Yeah.”

“Did you know?” Layla asked. She couldn’t help but ask she knew that he had followed her and he had danced with her when she had first gotten there. She wanted to know if it was because he knew who she was.

“Know what?” Jonah asked.

“That i was who i am?” Layla answered.

Jonah shook his head he and him mom may have talked about him helping to find her goddaughter but there was still a lot that was never shared with him. “No i didn’t my mom didn’t share the prophecy with me until she just repeated to everyone.”

“Oh.” Layla said

Jonah spinned her closer to him the two gliding across the dance floor. He would be honest he hadn’t even known who she was. He had simply been intrigued and he wanted to follow through. “When i ran into you and your sister at the lake i was intrigued but i never figured you had powers. Although i found it slightly suspicious you were at the lake and then what you and your sister were talking about in the market.”

That made Layla chuckle she knew her sister could be a little scary at times. But she knew Maya always meant the best after all she never let her feel as if she was different. “She is protective of me she wanted to make sure i knew that no matter what i could do i would always be her sister and no one could change who i was. I was the best older sister and that if people got to know me they would love me.”

“She may just be right.” Jonah smiled.

“Yeah maybe she is.” Layla agreed she wasn’t sure how any of this was going to go but she was gooing to try and make it though.

“So your mother?” Layla asked she had questions about this part too.

“She has waited for this day for years.” Jonah said. He loved his mother and he knew she had always put a lot on the line and this was simply no different.

“She has?” Layla asked hopefully. She knew she heard her basically say it but it was different hearing it from him.

Jonah nodded he knew they were basically his mothers favorite people. She had been waiting for the time when she would get her goddaughter back and when her sacrifice would garner results. When she knew the kingdom would be in good hands. “Your her goddaughter if she had a lead on you she would have come and looked for you. When i met you and i was intrigued i was ready to throw this whole thing away but my dad refused to let me go through with it. He said mom had been waiting for this day and we needed to see it through. It is her dying wish to meet you.”

“Aww.” Layla replied sadly. She hated that she had to die for them to be able to save Greenville for them to be able to stop Lucinda.

Jonah sighed he knew it was a lot to put on his shoulders but it was the truth. His mother had done all this to make sure they could do this. “We always knew that she wanted to meet you she had done this to make sure we had a fighting chance at what was to come.”

“And now we do.” Layla said. She was going to make sure that Emma’s sacrifice was going to mean something if it wa sthe last thign she did.

“My mother has been training me in being a witch all my life she wanted to make sure at least one of us knew what we were doing. But she swore it would come to you.” Jonah said. And while he wasn’t sure how he trusted that his mother was right about that.

“It has been slowly i’ve been figuring it out although when i’m nervous it tends to flare up.” Layla admitted but she was practicing and she knew when she was the most carefree with her magic was when it didn’t lose control. So that was something she was going to try and work on. “And you can see it in my eyes they look like balls of fire.”

“Aww.”

The music stopped as everyone looked back up at the balcony. Seeing Emma and Ryan had come back onto it. “We thank everyone for coming and participating in our ball this evening and we hope you’ll all join us in the transition after the barrier finally comes down. Right now i think we all need to rest before the chaos starts.”
