Jonah and Layla went and joined Emma and Ryan in the throne room they wanted to talk to her before letting Jonah show her to her room for the night. Emma knew they had a lot o preparing that they needed to do before she died. “We’re going to let Jonah take you to your room we have a lot to do tomorrow.”
“What do we have to do?” Layla asked. Besides the prophecy that she was going to have to do she didn’t know much more and she hated the idea of being left in the dark.
Emma shook her head she knew Layla needed to rest after what she had just learned. It wasn’t fair to give her more to worry about now. “We’ll explain tomorrow you’ve had enough information for the day. And we’re going to bring your parents and siblings tomorrow a lot is about to change in a short amount of time.”
“Right.” Layla nodded. She knew she was going to be getting married she was going to become the new queen. She would be the ruler and she and Jonah was going to have to go against Lucinda.
Emma took Layla’s hand she knew that Cameron and Xavier were going to be so proud of how their daughter turned out. She was better than they could have imagined. “I’m happy i got to meet you Layla your parents are going to be so proud of the lady you have become.”
“Thank you.” Layla smiled she was happy to know her birth parents would be proud of her.
“Of course.” Emma smiled.
“Go get some rest you both are going to need it.” Ryan said he knew they had a lot they were going to go through and that this was only the start.
“Ok.”
“Goodnight.”
“Night.”
“This way.” Jonah led her to a different part of the castle. To where the two of them would live. He took her to a guest room opening the door to see a bed in the middle of the room with white walls and a vanity against the wall with a connecting ensuite. “Mom asked one of the maids to bring you a change of clothes they should be here soon with it.”
“Ok.” Layla nodded she started to fittle with her fingers again she knew soon everything would change. Lucinda was going to come after her.
“You still nervous.” Jonah asked. He could tell he knew he hadn’t liked it either when his mom had told him about it but she had faith in him so he believed that he could do it.
Layla nodded she went and had a seat on the bed being mindful of her dress. She made it through the ball and that had been her fear all week. But she knew now she had so much more that she had to get through. She knew this was simply the beginning. “Less than i was when i got here i’m just happy they didn’t flare up.”
Jonah closed her door going to sit next to her. He knew this was a lot for her and he would do anything to make it easier. “That’s a good thing isn’t it.”
Layla sighed and nodded she knew that was good she was getting control but she didn’t know how long it would last. “Yeah i guess i’m trying to teach myself control but it isn’t going very well.”
“Right i understand that.” Jonah knew when he was learning how to use the powers he was born with there was nothing easy about it. He was constantly doing things that he hadn’t meant to.
“It’s just a lot to handle at once a week ago this ball wasn’t happening and i knew nothing about any of this.” A week ago her lie had been somewhat normal and now that normalcy was gone. She was the princess of Fire and Ice. She was adopted she had a soulmate she was supposed to go against some witch who had been planning world domination for two decades. Her godmother had sacrificed her life so that she could prolong Lucinda getting here. She was going to have to get married and she would be the queen. Her birth parents were alive and they were royalty. It was simply a lot to process for her. “I just knew i had powers and didn’t want anyone else to know about them.”
“Yeah unfortunately we have to act fast before it is to late.” Jonah knew this was all happening fast but it was for a good cause it was so Lucinda wouldn’t win. “My mother refuses to give Lucinda the chance to win.”
“Yeah i feel bad.” Layla sighed she could only imagine what the difference would be now if she had went public with her powers and tried to see if anyone could help her. If she would have found out that Emma was her godmother earlier. “What if i would have said something earlier would things have changed.”
“You can’t think of that.” Jonah expressed sadly. He wanted his mother to stay alive more than anyone but he didn;t want her to blame herself for this. He knew this had been in the making for years and no one could have changed it. His mom was going to die she had done what she could to save them and now they would finish where she left off.
“What am i supposed to think about?” Layla asked. She wasn’t sure if she was supposed to think about her past and being hidden. The fact that she was a member of the unknown. That her godmother was the queen of Greenville and was sacrificing herself. Or thatshe didn’t know anything about what she was doing.
“The good things.” Jonah pressed he knew that their had to be some good things that happened in her life. All of them couldn’t be as tragic as what was to come.
“Like?” Layla asked she wasn’t sure what good things she could think about.
“Don’t you have some good things that have happened in your life?” Jonah asked. He knew even in this time of peril he had things that were good memories that he thought of when nothing but the bad clouded his mind.
“I was homeschooled because my parents wanted to protect me.” Layla said. Thinking back at everything her parents did she understood it they had wanted to make sure she survived. They knew there could be consquences and they had wanted her to protect her from that. And in doing it they had made their childrens bond so much stronger.“Me and my siblings had each other.”
“Exactly that’s a good thing your an older sister.” Jonah reasoned he didn’t have any siblings but from seeing the interaction with Layla and her little sister. He knew they were close he could also tell she’d do anything for her.
“The oldest.” Layla answered.
“How many siblings do you have?” Jonah asked.
“3.” Layla said and she was proud to be their older sister she loved each one of them so much and when she had been contemplating leaving that had been the only thing that was holding her back.
“What are there names? I know i met Maya.” Jonah said. He knew if she was the oldest of three and he only met the sister there was two other ones.
Layla smiled thinking of her little siblings. Growing up with them had been one of the best experiences ever. “Ethan my brother he’s sixteen then there is Zamiyah she’s thirteen and then there is Liam and he is five.”
“That gives you another reason to want to get through this.” Jonah mentioned. He knew another reason for her to survive this was so that she could stay with her siblings so she could continue to keep them safe.
“How are we supposed to get though this when we don’t even know each other?” Layla asked. She knew they were destined for this but that didn’t really change the fact that they were strangers.
Jonah smiled he knew the perfect way for that to happen. “That’s an easy fix.”
“How so?” Layla asked slightly warry of the smile. She didn’t think it was going to be easy at all.
“We get to know each other simple.” Jonah said.
“How is that simple?” Layla asked.
Jonah sighed he knew this was a lot happening at once. But she was right they couldn’t do this if they didn’t know each other. And right now they had the perfect chance to do it before hell broke lose. “You heard the prophecy were soulmates so we should know each other and we don’t.”
“I guess your right.”
“I am.”
“Ok so lets get to know each other.”
