Chapter Eleven - I have been thinking about you all day.
Paxton
I had been busying myself for most of the day, trying to distract myself from thinking about Kenna, which has not been easy since what happened this morning. I should have tried to fight it harder, but it would have been useless, not while we were staying under the same roof. We need to be careful, though. I also don’t know if she because she has been away and had time to think that she will still want the same as she did this morning.
Carter arrived home about two hours ago, which was a good distraction. We made dinner, and now we are watching the game with some beer. Kenna should be home soon, too. I focus on the game until I hear the front door opening. I fight back a smile in case Carter notices.
“Hey, guys.” She greets coming into the living room.
“Hey, sis, how was work?” Carter asks.
“Busy but helped pass the day quickly.” She replies.
Her eyes fall on me. I smile brightly at her which she returns.
“There is dinner in the fridge for you,” Carter says.
“Oh, what did you make? I am so hungry. I haven’t had a chance to eat since breakfast.”
“Sesame chicken with rice and green beans. Paxton made it. It is delicious.” Carter compliments.
“Thanks. I can’t wait to dig in.”
Kenna disappears to the kitchen. I follow because we need more beers, which is the perfect excuse. Carter is too wrapped up in the game to come through. When I arrived, I found her back to me as she was heating her dinner. I stroll over and stand behind her, resting my hand on her hip.
“Hey, gorgeous,” I whisper.
“Paxton, what are you doing? Carter could come in,” she says nervously.
I reach my lips to her ear, “No, he won’t. Not while the game is on. Have you been thinking about me today, dimples? I have been thinking about you.” I rasp.
She shudders, and a soft whimper comes from her lips. I bring her around to face me and see her flushed face.
“Y-y-you have been thinking about me?”
I nod, “Yes, all damn day. Have I been the only one?”
She shakes her head. I smirked, happy to know I had been on her mind too. I lift my hand and caress her warm cheek, “You haven’t changed your mind?”
“No,” she whispers.
That is all I need to hear. I dip down and press my lips to hers. She moans instantly when our lips connect. I smirked into the kiss and held her body against mine, deepening the kiss. Her lips always feel good; they are so warm and soft. Kenna fists my tee and kisses back the way.
I hesitantly pull back, “You should eat, sweetness.”
We are a little breathless from the kiss. She smiles and nods. I grab two beers from the fridge and leave her to sort her dinner out. She needs to eat if she hasn’t since breakfast. I will try my best to get her alone later or wait until I know Carter is sound asleep. His room is at the opposite of the hall from mine and McKenna’s, so he shouldn’t hear me creeping around.
I hand Carter a beer and retake my seat. I don’t know if she will come in here to eat or go to her room. She has never really been much of a fan of sports.
We hear her in the hallways, but she doesn’t come into the living room. She goes upstairs.
“I worry about her sometimes. She locks herself away so much.” Carter sighs.
“She has always liked her own space. I am sure it is nothing to worry about.”
“I know, but I wish she would find more of a life for herself.” He says.
“I get that, but she seems happy the way she is.”
“True. I am probably just overthinking. You know what I am like, especially when it comes to Mckenna.” He replies.
“Yes, I don’t think you will ever stop worrying about her.”
He chuckles, “Probably not. I feel sorry for the guy she ends up marrying because if I don’t like him, then I will make his life a living hell.”
I laugh, “Yes, you will, but hopefully, if she ever gets married, he will be a good guy who will take care of her, and you can stop worrying.” I smile and pat his back.
“I hope so.”
It is understandable why he is so protective after everything they have been through. I would be the same if I had a younger sibling.
We focus back on the game and drink our beers.

I am on my way upstairs to Kenna’s room to summon her at Carter’s request. He wants her to come down and watch a movie with us rather than locking herself away all night.
I knock on her room door and wait for permission to enter, which comes only a second later. I step inside and close the door behind me.
“What are you doing up here?” she asks.
“Carter sent me to come tell you to come downstairs and watch a movie with us. Or should I say he demanded,” I chuckle, “He doesn’t want you staying in here all night.”
She rolls her eyes, “He is a pain in my ass sometimes.” She laughs.
“He is only looking out for you. He doesn’t want you to be a loner.” I reply and stroll over to the bed.
She pouts, “But I am reading.”
Why am I not surprised at what she is doing?
I crawl up the bed towards her and take the book from her, “You can read it later.”
Kenna huffs, “But what if I want to finish it now?”
I pry her legs apart, climbing between them and tower over her, “Tough. I am under strict orders to do what it takes to make you come down.”
She raises her brow at me, “What makes you think you can convince me to do such a thing?”
I smirk and inch closer to her lips, “I can be very convincing.” I whisper.
I brush my lips against hers, and she whimpers, but I don’t kiss her and pull back.
“Hey.”
I laugh loudly, “I will make you a deal. I will give you a kiss if you agree to come watch a movie with us.”
“You think that works on me, uh?” she challenges.
I nod, “Yes, because it is what you want; don’t try to pretend it isn’t.”
She rolls her eyes at me again, “Fine.”
I try not to look too smug. I knew it would work.
“Mmm, good girl,” I say.
Her eyes go wide and fill with lust when I call her it. What is it with women loving being called that? I don’t believe I have met one who doesn’t like it.
I don’t say anything about her reaction. I finally cover her lips with mine and give her the kiss she wants. She moans, her fingers entangling in my hair. I groan and let my body fall on top of hers. Kenna snakes her legs around me, and the kiss quickly becomes heated.
I run my hand up her leg and grip her thigh. She moans into the kiss. It feels so fucking good, but I know I need to pull away. I can feel my cock beginning to rise to attention. I would rather not go down with a hard-on because how would I explain that to Carter that I just left his sister’s room and have one?
I pull away, “We should stop because you are turning me on.” I breathe out.
She snickers, “Yes, you are probably right. You head down. I will follow in a few once I gather myself.”
I smile, peck her lips and leave her room. I tidy myself up and re-join my best friend in the living room, and for a moment, guilt takes over me, but I push it aside and take a seat. I need to find a better way to control myself when Carter is in the house, or I will end up getting us caught.
