Chapter Twenty- Three - A nice reminder of where I came from.
Paxton
It was really nice to see Julie and Shaun. It had been too long, and they were happy to see me too. They gave us some free cookies to go with our lunch. Thankfully, the place wasn’t too busy, so I had the chance to go inside. I miss my hometown a lot, but I have gotten so used to living in luxury in the city that I sometimes forget where I came from. I always promised myself I wouldn’t let that happen, but it did.
Kenna and I had arrived at the river not too long ago. We should have been here before now, but Julie and Shaun kept us for like half an hour, but we didn’t mind. We had the blanket set out and our lunch, too. We got a mix of foods to give us choices.
“You can take your hat and shades off now. No one is around.” She laughs.
“Sorry. I am so used to trying to hide I forgot.” I chuckle, removing them.
“Better, now I can see your handsome face.” She snickers.
I motion her closer to me, “My handsome face wants a kiss.”
She raises her brow at me, “In public?”
I nod, “There isn’t anyone around.”
Kenna glances around to make sure before she comes to me. I don’t waste another moment and claim her lips with mine. She moans softly into the kiss. I groan; her lips always feel good. I place my hands on her hips and pull her into my lap, wanting her closer. She is soon straddling me as we continue to share a kiss, one which is getting more heated with each second. My cock is stirring to life.
Kenna backs away, panting, “We should stop in case someone comes by and sees us.”
I nod in agreement because she is right. We can’t risk being seen. I don’t know which one would be worse, the media or Carter finding out. They would probably be as bad at each other.
She removed herself from my lap, and I needed to readjust myself in my shorts.
Kenna smirks, “Are you okay there?”
“Yes.” I chuckle.
She turns me on so easily. It isn’t something that happens all the time with other women.
“We should eat before the food gets cold.” She giggles.
“Yes, ma’am.”
We tuck straight in and admire the view of the river, “I forgot how beautiful and peaceful it was here. I don’t have anywhere in the city like this where I can go too.”
“Yes, it really is beautiful. I don’t know why I stopped coming.”
“We had some good memories down here,” I say with a smile.
“Yes, we did. You guys used to bring me here when I was having a rough day. I don’t know why you and my brother always took me with you. You both must have been tired of having me around the time.” She says softly.
“No, not at all. We didn’t mind having you around. I think Carter was trying his best to play mom, dad and brother simultaneously.”
“I know. I will be forever grateful for him. He didn’t need to take care of me.” She smiles.
“But he wanted to. You are the only family he had left. I know the two of you fought like every other sibling, but you were still his favourite person.” I reply.
“And he was mine. Still is.” She gushes.
“I always admired the relationship you two had.”
“I don’t even want to think what would have happened to me if he wasn’t around.” She sighs.
I reach over and place my hand on her thigh, squeezing it, “But he was, so there’s no point in wondering about the what if.”
“True.” She smiles.
A comfortable silence comes between us as we enjoy our lunch and coffee. We were ready for it since we hadn’t eaten anything today after getting carried away in her bed all morning.
I can’t remember the last time I relaxed like this without anyone following me or lurking close by. It is nice. Kenna and Carter are the only two people I can feel this way with. I like they don’t treat me any differently. It is refreshing to me.
“You must be glad to get out for a bit,” Kenna says.
“I am. I can’t keep myself hidden away. I just need to be careful on where I go.”
“I am sure we can find you some places.” She says brightly.
“If I remember correctly, there are many places hidden out of the way around here.”
“There is. We can explore them whenever you feel like getting out of the house. You don’t always need to go with me, of course. I am sure Carter will go with you, too.”
“I wouldn’t mind doing it all with you, dimples.” I wink.
I enjoy spending my time with her and Carter is always busy too.
Kenna blushes and turns away from me.
“Are you blushing, sweetness?” I tease.
She shakes her head, “No, I am not.”
“Then look at me.” I insist.
Kenna slowly turns back to face. Her cheeks are red. I chuckle and reach over, prodding her nose, “You are cute when you blush.”
She swats my hand away, “Stop.” She whines.
I laugh loudly and stop teasing her. I can’t help it; it is just too easy to do. I look forward to spending the rest of my afternoon with her.

The last couple of hours have been good. We enjoyed our lunch, when a paddle in the river, took some photos and walked around a little. There have been a few people around, but thankfully, none of them recognised me.
Now, we are happily lying on the blanket, enjoying the warmth of the sun. Kenna is cuddled into my side, her head on my chest. I have my arm wrapped around. We are comfortable, but at the same time keeping an eye out on our surroundings.
“Have you thought any more about coming to the event next weekend?” I ask.
She rolls onto her stomach, resting her chin on my chest, “Do you want me to come?”
I stroke the hair away from her eyes, “I would like it if you were there with us.”
“Okay, but is there any way I can avoid the media and red carpet?” she asks.
“I could arrange that, yes. If I do, will you come with us?”
“Yes. Though I don’t have a dress, so I will need to go shopping. I have no idea what type of dress I should buy, though.” She sighs.
“How about you and I go shopping one day next week? I can help you pick something out?” I suggest.
“Sure, but nothing too expensive because I can’t afford it right now.”
“We will find you something within your price range.” I smile.
Or I may find us somewhere to shop and buy the dress for her. I won’t tell her that, though. It is the least I can do since I am the one dragging her to the event.
“Great! How are we getting there?” She asks.
“My manager will sort flights and hotel rooms for us. It will be put on the company card.” I reply.
“Really? We don’t need to pay for them?”
I shake my head, “Will you be okay in a room on your own?”
I will get us all one each.
“Yes, I will be fine.” She smiles.
“Okay. Though, I may have to sneak in and see you. I will get separate rooms for us all.”
“Who said I want you to sneak in?” she teases.
“Come on now. I know you will.” I smirk.
“Probably.” She laughs.
I lean down and kiss her softly before she lies back down. I am happy she is coming. It will be good for her to have a change of scenery. It will be a good night.
