Chapter 20 Sebastian the Beast

A chill ran from Sebastian's head to his feet, leaving him frozen in place inch by inch. His eyes shrank and his heart felt like it had been pulled by something.
Sebastian's eyes turned red as he stared stiffly at the "blood" in the basin. Was that residue from Eleanor's stomach? Chewed up but undigested toilet paper? Toilet paper stained with her blood?
"Why would she eat something like this..."
David looked at him coldly, tears staining the corners of his eyes. "I want to know what you did to her for her to resort to eating toilet paper just to fill her stomach!"
It was because he locked her in their bedroom for four days without food that she resorted to eating toilet paper. Sebastian suffered from mild gastritis himself and knew how difficult it was when it flared up,let alone Eleanor who had late-stage gastric cancer.
Sebastian struggled like a drowning man, clutching onto the plastic basin so tightly that his knuckles turned white and veins bulged on the back of his hand.
"I... I didn't know... She has a stomach problem... I didn't know it would be this serious..." If he had known,he wouldn't have kept her locked up without food for four days.
Sebastian lowered his head and looked at the bloody water in the basin while a strong smell of blood wafted towards him. It seemed as if tears were falling from his eyes into the water as ripples formed before quickly settling down again.
For a moment there was only Sebastian's heavy breathing left in the air - oppressive and suffocating. David didn't sympathize with him; instead,he despised him for causing so much harm to Eleanor who used to be healthy and happy!
David's gaze was sharp like a knife which made Sebastian unable look directly at him anymore. As he looked at the bloody water in front of him,a picture flashed through his mind - Eleanor stuffing paper into her mouth and swallowing it while coughing up blood.
He couldn't imagine how Eleanor managed to survive those four days. He knew that this woman was afraid of pain and suffering.
Sebastian felt as if his soul had been sucked out of him. He looked around absentmindedly, trying to find any trace of Eleanor.
"Eleanor is in the intensive care unit. If you really feel guilty, then divorce her and don't drag her down anymore."
Finally reacting,Sebastian put down the basin he was holding and stared directly at David. "Eleanor is my wife for life; I will never divorce her."
He would make it up to her somehow. Suddenly Sebastian found himself feeling something towards Eleanor - not love but guilt mixed with possessiveness as a man.
"Even if she dies, she can only be mine - The Hastings family's person and my wife," said Sebastian firmly.
What he meant was that he wasn't going to let go of Eleanor no matter what happened. Thinking about how Eleanor was still lying in the ICU fighting for her life made David furious.
He rushed forward wanting to punch Sebastian's disgusting face but before he could even touch him, medical staff nearby quickly intervened with their sharp reflexes.
"Dr Miller calm down! This is a hospital." The operating room contained all sorts of narrow equipment from overseas which could easily get damaged during fights like these so they had to stop them immediately before anything worse happened.
David took a deep breath while clenching his teeth so hard that it seemed like they were about break apart: "Sebastian, you bastard! Isn't causing harm enough for you?"
"That's between me and her; there's no need for an outsider like you to interfere."
The doctor who stopped David from attacking looked surprised by how angry David appeared since everyone who knew him well would describe him as gentle and docile like a sheep. They had never seen him lose his temper so badly before.
